'Awesome Cottage! Great Owner!
Absolutely loved this house and will definitely plan on staying here again! My husband is originally from Connecticut and his entire family still lives there. Traditionally we stay with family when we visit but I decided to rent a house this trip so we could entertain and have everyone over. This house was charming and very comfortable. It was my mother in laws 80th birthday and I had about 25 family members over for a dinner party. Every person who entered the house commented on what a terrific cottage it was. Having the upstairs loft was a perfect space for my son to have his privacy and a place to relax. He (and I) loved having the wireless internet connection that worked great! The outdoor area was very private and the deck was a wonderful space to hang out and kick back. Everyone really enjoyed the art work throughout the house and commented that it provided warmth and character to the cottage. Lastly I want to share my comments on the owner Yvette, she was very prompt in her responses to me and a real pleasure to work with through the rental process. Yvette thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us, it was the most memorable visit to Connecticut that our family has ever had. Take care, my best, Julianna (This was the first time I ever rented a home online or used the Home Away site, it was a great experience!)'

I have been renting my cottage since 2006. I own the lot next door, a tiny wooded lot, so the back yard is very private. The house is on a private dirt home has a large deck, front porch, fireplace, I provide linens, spices, paper towels, trash bags.
This is the home I raised my boys in. It was always filled with love....

Experience New England’s shoreline year round at one of Old Saybrook’s most desirable and family friendly areas. Spend the day basking in the sun at the Saybrook Manor Association private beach club, have your children playing at the club's playground, enjoy all sort of social events, or go for a change to one of the 2 beaches just a five-minutes walk away.
Need a break from the beach Stop to dine at some fine restaurants nearby. Travel just a little further and visit Mystic Aquarium, Mystic Seaport, take a ride with your kids across the countryside, see Beautiful New England the old-fashioned way on the Essex Historic steam train, enjoy a cruise on the Connecticut River or enjoy an evening at the Mohegan Casino. Peddle along the ocean side at sunset, head to the shops along Main Street or take a ten-minute drive to the shopping large outlets in Westbrook and Clinton.
Adorable seaside cottage. Owner was always available and answered every question quickly. Great couple of days to just get away and unwind.
Cottage is very nice - interior is very clean - back deck area can use some TLC - location is excellent - walking distance to small community beach and just a very short drive to public beaches. Awesome location and New England beach town. VRBO photos are a bit outdated - (especially back deck/yard area) -
Had a lovely week in a very comfortable clean well located beach cottage. Enjoyed the beach almost every day- so close and beautiful! Enjoyed nice restaurants very close then had a fire pit on the deck every night. Everything that makes a great vacation!
We loved our stay at the cottage. It was a classic beach cottage. Property was clean and as advertised. We would rent again!
We had a wonderful time. The back deck was great for meals.
We loved the house. It was eclectic and quaint. The perfect setting to disconnect and relax. Also great location being so close to beaches, shopping, restaurants and pampering if you want to treat yourself. Yvette was wonderful and we hope to go back!
Beautifully decorated cottage in a serene setting. Was a perfect getaway for us. We really enjoyed the location, very quiet and peaceful. Yvette made sure everything was perfect for our stay. Was a short walk to a pretty, private beach. This property is even nicer than the photos. Don’t miss out on this one.
The place was clean and quiet. Close to town and restaurants. Great communication with the host.
Highly recommended! The house and property owner were very nice… thank you, Yvette.
Wonderful location within walking distance of beach/CT shoreline. Cottage is bright, open, well appointed and filled with love & art. This cute home sits on a private, dead-end lane that offers privacy, security and convenience to area beaches, shops, restaurants, daily coffee, groceries, etc while maintaining a secluded and comfortable locale. The owner is easy to communicate with, understanding of your needs and privacy as well as just a very nice, loving & caring human being.
A fun property with everything you need to have a great time at the beach.
We loved our stay at this cozy cottage. Super clean and comfortable beds. Pretty beach decor, with a lovely private backyard and porch. Easy walk to the beach. Yyvette responded quickly to all our texts and gave great recommendations for local favorite restaurants. ( Penny Lane Pub). Perfect size for 2 couples.
Cute cottage with beach decor and colorful artwork. Upstairs loft has one queen/full bed and two twin beds. It can get warm up there so use AC and fan. Home is in a homeowners association where many ride around in golf carts. Small community family feel with small private beach access about 5-10 minute walk from house. Bring beach shoes because there are rocks and sea life in the water. Also there are no lifeguards. Good restaurants outside association in old Saybrook, including fresh salt, the tea kettle, Luigi’s, and Pennylane Pub. My kids especially enjoyed the frozen yogurt at Sweet Lunas. Some things to do and see: old train ride in Essex (and boat which we didn’t go on), castle owned by Sherlock Holmes actor, the Kate museum and theatre (Katherine Hepburn), mini golf on the sound.
