This is such a charming little property. From the dogs running around to the hot tub overlooking the mountain. Robert was a great host and was SO helpful getting up and down the mountain/recommending some good places to eat! Perfect location, about 15-20 mins from downtown Asheville. We will absolutely be visiting again. It was perfect for a romantic getaway with my girlfriend!
My husband and I booked a long weekend for our honeymoon. Granted we did not read all the reviews before booking, but when we saw 5 stars it was a quick decision after seeing the pictures as well! The views are beautiful and being on top of a mountain was pretty cool. 4 wheel drive is a must as some of the road is on a very steep incline! The location in proximity to Asheville and the Biltmore were also very convenient. The only things we were not pleased with is that there are people who live here that have 3 dogs that are left out to roam. Our dogs aren’t necessarily unfriendly but I didn’t feel comfortable letting them off the leash. While the location is secluded you really don’t have the place entirely to yourself. The kitchen is small and workable but not fully equipped. Overall we had a good time but it wasn’t exactly what we had imagined the place to be.
I thoroughly enjoyed staying with Bob and Melissa. They are both wonderful hosts and make sure the guest have what they need and also are available for any issues during the stay which was great also. I arrive down there by myself, so it worked out great to not be completely alone until my boyfriend came up in a few days. I enjoyed talking with Bob and Melissa and they told me some great spots to trail walk and eat in Weaversville. The hot tub is actually on the other side and more remote; that table on the front is top there currently. We stayed on the top floor which was great for what we needed. The view was amazing; a nice size room with a king bed and a gas fireplace heater. Then there is a quaint little kitchen with a open space to a couch and a table. The couches were so comfy that on rainy days I would open up the blinds and view the mountains and either watch a movie or read my book. The hammock needs work in the front, but I brought a blanket and read my book on a lovely hill next to the cabin. I very much did enjoy my time there and my dogs were happy to explore around the mountains. Yes you can bring dogs! The other thing is there are other dogs on the property, but they are all very friendly. Enjoy your stay!
My husband and I spent this weekend here and had a lovely time. This one bedroom had everything we needed plus a hot tub with a view that is amazing. I would highly recommend this rental. Please, though, pay attention to the requirement for a 4wd vehicle....the road up the mountain is a private road that winds and turns and is very steep...Rob and Melissa are great hosts and lovely people!
Great location and wonderful views. The property is well maintained and the views are gorgeous. Bob and His assistant Angie were very friendly and helpful.
My daughter and I spent a wonderful extended weekend up in the beautiful and peaceful island in the sky! The view was gorgeous and the temperature was cooler at that altitude so we did not need air conditioning. The hot tub was relaxing! We do not have a 4 wheel drive but our hosts were always available when we needed a ride up or down. Very conveniently located a short distance from Asheville!
We will definetly be back sometime
Had a great time! Very nice place
My girlfriend and I have visited Bob and Melissa's place three times now. We come every year toward the end of April/beginning of May and plan to continue that tradition. Bob, Melissa, and Bob's daughter Kristen are all amazing hosts. The views are second to none, as the two cabins look directly toward the Smokies. The top of the mountain is so peaceful and secluded. We honestly enjoy it more every time we come. You're within 15 minutes of downtown Asheville, the Parkway, and the Tennessee border. The location, the cabins themselves, and the mountain are all great.
My husband and I recently went for a weekend getaway and it was very peaceful! The cabin was in great shape and the property was easy to navigate. I was under the impression it was a cabin all by itself. When we arrived I noticed a cabin underneath ours and another one next door. All cabins were booked for the weekend. The other attendees were nice but I would've liked something a little more private. All in all the town wasn't too far and our dog had plenty of space to run and play. It was enjoyable but not as private as what we anticipated. Defiantly need a four wheel drive car to get up the mountain. And make sure you have ALL of your groceries so you are not up and down the mountain your entire trip.
