Stayed Jul 10, 2025The setting is idyllic in lovely peaceful surroundings, nature all around. The cottage is large, airy and bright and everything you could need was provided. Although quite a distance from Oban, the main road was pretty quiet and a pleasant drive. The pool was an added bonus, but the sauna wasn't working. We were there on the hottest weekend of the year, so didn't need the sauna.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We spent a full week in the comfort of Melfort Village. Walled Garden Mews No.9 was extremely comfortable for the four of us. We would not hesitate to return for a second holiday there. The apartment was well equipped and very roomy with a wonderful view down to the loch. WiFi in the Walled Garden Mews was excellent. There is so much to see and do in this beautiful part of the world. The scenery is outstanding and the bush walking on the mainland and the nearby islands is superb. Nearby Oban has some terrific places for eating, drinking and shopping. The restaurant just up the road at Loch Melfort Hotel is not to be missed for a special occasion. If you are in the Village on a Monday morning and want to know where to go, what to do, and where’s the best eating, check out Olwyn’s Introduction to the Area talk. (I promise, not one mention of Buy Our Timeshare!) Olwyn covers the area from Campbeltown in the south (and the nearby justly famous Muneroy Cafe with its fabulous cakes) to Ben Nevis in the north. Like all the staff at Melfort Village, Olwyn is welcoming and generous with her time and knowledge. Highlights besides the wonderful walks were the Three Island Trip on the ferries (Mull, Iona and Staffa); a sea eagle, seal, dolphin, deer spotting trip in a small boat; and a trip INTO the mountain to see the Cruachan Power Station. Tips: You really need a car to stay at the Melfort Village. Some mobile phones providers will have no coverage in the Village (eg. 3) but the Walled Garden Mews supported WiFi based calls. You may not be able to get WiFi in other parts of the Village, including Reception. We would love to go back!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We had a fantastic fortnight first at Walled Garden 11 and then Walled Garden 9. Both were immaculately clean on arrival. We have stayed at Melfort Village for many years and always have a great time and find something new to do we haven't done before. Hired the kids some bikes which was great, plenty of tennis and swimming. Wonderful massages and treatments from the lovely Annie and excellent friendly help and warm welcome from all of the staff in the reception who go out of their way to help! Had a brilliant day visit to nearby Easdale Island where our teenage kids enjoyed some wild swimming at the old slate quarry pools, which is well worth the visit. We will be back soon!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We are members at Melfort of Stables West. We were pleasantly surprised how well appointed the Walled Garden was. The one we were in had fantastic views down the loch and over surrounding hills. It’s lovely to sit outside for breakfast with such a fantastic view. Friends stayed the first half of the week and loved everything about the property and the village itself. Would certainly be happy to stay in The Mews in the spring to Autumn . They are hoping to log fires in all the Mews over time. (2 already have)

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Our recent visit was our first but will NOT be our last!. The accommodation was excellent and all of the activities like tennis, golf, basketball were all free, which was a nice suprise. Even the two well equipped games rooms, swimming pool and full size snooker table were free. Staff were friendly and helpful. Even if the weather isn't great there is so much to see around oban that you won't be bored. All round it was a great stay and we are already looking to book again for the summer.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The walled garden is beautiful. There were a few surprises like paying separately for electric and no close care for breakfast. It is a little remote but I would stay again because I would be better prepared. I wouldn't drive there after dark. Stay by the airport and rent the car in the morning. The drive is beautiful and you will enjoy your stay so much more. You definitely need a car. The bus is nice but you need a car to get to the bus stop. The rooms are very cozy and the view is breathtaking.. The people are friendly even the guests. We really enjoyed our stay after we got settled in.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Melfort Village is a wonderful resort. From our viewpoint it is both disabled and dog friendly - even to providing an arrival pack for our dog. The staff at Melfort couldn't be more helpful and I particularly appreciated their support when we had to cut our holiday short on the Wednesday because our daughter was taken into hospital back in Leeds. Walled Garden 9 had everything you could possibly ask for and all of very good quality and in more than adequate numbers. The cottage was lovely and warm when we arrived, which was nice after an 8 hour drive. The pool area, yet again, was excellent, just a shame I didn't get to use it more than once during our visit. The restaurant was closed due to the chef's absence, so cannot comment on that. Our second stay at Melfort, but won't be our last.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Lovely welcome at Office, then a very comprehensive welcome meeting on Sunday by Olwen. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Mews, tried hard to find something missing... but failed! Everything catered for and spotlessly clean... Thank you..

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Such a beautiful and peaceful setting. The accommodation was exceptional - very clean and well equipped, ideal for family of 4 (incl 2 teenagers!). Facilities on site were fantastic, we played cricket on the field, pool in the Gunpowder Room, table tennis in the games room, swam in the pool and rode bikes round the loch - and that was after busy days out sight seeing! A great base to explore west coast Scotland. Staff were all polite and very helpful, couldn't fault anything. We will be back!
