Stayed Dec 31, 1969We booked it the week before and got a good deal and our hopes were rewarded with a lovely short break holiday. We chose it because of the pool and because it is pet friendly. Subsequently our daughter enjoyed the former and our spaniel enjoyed the latter! We enjoyed being away from the main centre as it gave us an opportunity to have a nice autumnal walk to and from the pool and facilities.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We had a lovely time during our stay at the Walled Gardens which is ideally set up for families with the outdoor area all contained meaning children are visible at all times while playing outside. It is set in a beautiful location, views from the outdoor seating area were very pleasing. Staff on reception were incredibly friendly and very helpful both with regards to Melfort and equally with things to do in the local area. The property itself was fine, comfortable if a little tired and perhaps a little extra cleaning would have helped in places like the velux windows which were full of cobwebs - also those above the mezzanine had no blinds so our daughter was woken early every morning by sunlight beaming through them. It was well equipped with all necessary kitchenware and good quality crockery though don’t forget to bring your own dishwasher tablets. The games rooms contained pool & table tennis tables and multiple jigsaws and the swimming pool area was great though it is worth noting there is an enforced maximum capacity of about 15 people which meant it was never overcrowded but we did witness some families being turned away. Despite these minor foibles we would happily return and enjoy what was a good value for money holiday. Worth noting that the individual properties don’t have Wi-Fi but if you are next to the games room (in walled gardens 5 & 6) you can pick up on the Wi-Fi there which was a pretty reasonable speed!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Melfort was an excellent base for exploring this beautiful part of the world. The cottage was very well equipped and staff very helpful ,welcoming and dog friendly ( especially Olwynn). Good walking and stunning scenery on the doorstep. My only quibble was the fact that it isn't made very clear until after booking that electricity is charged extra .

Wonderful location, great accommodation, very friendly staff and excellent facilities - a real haven and a great family holiday. We had another fabulous week here this year and are already looking forward to our next visit.
