Stayed Dec 31, 1969Melfort Village is in a beautiful, quiet, isolated location. It is perfect for any kind of outside activity as well as being surrounded by history and places of interest. We stayed in the Walled Garden Mews and the accommodation surpassed our expectation, it was really comfortable and homely. Thoroughly enjoyed our week and would visit again without any reservations.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Melfort Village provided us with accommodation suitable for our group of 6 adults, 2 babies and 2 dogs. The area was good for exercising the dogs although accessing the 'beach' in the bay is not as easy as the site info suggests. The Mews accommodation was well equipped and cots and stair-gates were provided as requested. We didn't dine in the on-site restaurant but we did order a substantial carry-out dinner which was very good. On the one day when the weather was poor we had an eying meal in the nearby Loch Melfort Hotel which was also very good. The swimming pool etc was a bonus especially on the rainy day. It is a good size and there are plenty of pool 'toys' for the kids. Oban is only 30 minutes drive from mel fort and is also worth a visit.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The walled garden is a home away from home experience with the silence of nature. A safe and friendly location to spend time on your own or with family. Loved it.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We stayed for 3 nights at the start of April with our 6 and 2.5 year olds. The Walled Garden cottage had 2 bedrooms so not wanting to disturb our 6 year old we put our 2.5 year old to sleep in the mezzanine area with the sofa bed - this was fine in early Apri but will be tricky as the summer comes since there is 3 skylights in the property which have no blinds and the light would keep her awake. Overall we had a good time, the kids enjoyed playing in the park and in the swimming pool - the toys left at the side of the pool were a big hit. We felt a little let down by the restaurant, it was only properly open on one night of our stay and took us 2 hours just to get one course - it had such positive reviews. There was only one person covering both bar and restaurant- ie seating people, taking orders, serving drinks, bringing out food, clearing tables, talking to people walking in etc. It was so inefficient, in the whole time we were there not one table got turned over. We had to leave without the kids ice cream (which would’ve been included) since it was getting too late and we didn’t have another half an hour to wait for it to come out. Not sure what had happened the night we went given the other positive reviews but the restaurant was not a positive addition to the village in our opinion, especially given we were on holiday during what should’ve been peak time. All Melfort Village staff we spoke with were friendly and helpful, took time to talk to the kids and gave us suggestions on places to visit with them. The holiday cottage was well equipped- jigsaws and games were left for the kids, the only downfall being the 1000 piece jigsaws stored at 2 year old height, she gleefully emptied the box before we could stop her! Hopefully we found all the pieces again.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We were lucky with the weather, the previous week we were told was very wet. The sun shone the first part of the week and the colours of the trees and reflections in the water were stunning. The second part of the week was a little mixed weather wise but enjoyed it nevertheless, lots of walks ,natural scenery and wildlife Our lodge was in the walled garden which was a little way out from the main accomodation but very comfortable. Tip:- TAKE A TORCH.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The cottage was perfect, light and airy and at the same time cosy. We had friends for supper on two nights and sat down 8 people very comfortably, it was a well equipped kitchen and I was able to cook very easily. It was clean and tidy when we arrived, and we were very comfortable there.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Fabulous location - views & walks. Excellent facilities for all the family & dog. Would suggest blinds on the mezzanine windows to aid sleeping. More up front guidance on the hot water system would be useful.
