Set in a secluded sunny corner, the Walled Garden Cottages are within the walls of the old Melfort Estate walled garden and approximately 500 yards from the Inner Village.

The Walled Garden has 10 “mews style” two-bedroom cottages and one two-bedroom first floor apartment with each cottage enjoying views over the beautiful gardens and overlooking Loch Melfort to the South . There are plenty of car parking spaces at the rear of the building, with car parking for visitors provided immediately outside the garden entrance. A small leisure area is situated in the centre of the building which houses a sauna and games room with table tennis, snooker and darts – there is also a small laundry, public phone and communal deep freeze.

Entrance to each cottage is at the rear of the building, through the hall which has a drying/coat storage area. Leading from the hall is the open-plan sitting room, dining area and kitchen, shower room with large walk-in shower, and the master bedroom with en-suite bathroom. Stairs lead to the mezzanine balcony/games, sleeping area and first floor twin bedroom.

Each cottage has its own private patio opening from the dining area, and onto the communal gardens.

This was our first visit to the West Highlands and we were not disappointed. A beautifully maintained resort within a spectacular setting. We had planned to visit the islands during the week but found so much to do locally we decided to save the islands for a future visit. We particularly enjoyed the local walks from the resort which we purchased from reception for £1 on arrival. We also enjoyed some beautiful cycle rides in particular along the Crinan Canal, as well as enjoying local areas of interest. A gin tasting evening and music night arranged by staff was particularly enjoyable. The gym pool and sauna were small but perfectly adequate, the pool was warm and we enjoyed the use of it on most days. The housekeeping was excellent with so much attention to detail . Beautiful Denby crockery and a well equipped kitchen made it a real home from home experience. The greatest asset to this resort was the staff. The welcome and friendliness of everyone we came across during our visit could not be faulted, everyone went out of their way to help us and make our holiday memorable, thank you. Unfortunately the restaurant was not open during our visit this time but I have no doubt we will be returning to this fabulous resort so will hopefully experience that next time. We will certainly be returning.

we stayed for three nights, everything about our stay was first class, from entering the grounds, to our cottage it was WOW all the way. the weather even played its part and the sun shone on us, which always helps a holiday. They thought of everything, nothing was missing You do need a car, but ideal location to get away from it all. views are amazing I think it is safe to say we will definitely make a return visit

A wonderful scenic place to stay with extremely comfortable accommodation and so well equipped. The staff are so helpful and accommodating. This is our first Christmas break at Melfort and would like to spend further Christmas's there.

Walled Garden cottages 1& 8 were in my name but friends of mine were in no 1. We both filled questionnaires in and gave them to Reception when we left.We all enjoyed the week and look forward to another stay there. The only criticism was that we were unable to use The Shower of Herring as it wasn't open until our last night. Jean Swain

Loch Melfort village lived up to all our expectations. Pity that the weather was inclement so we couldn't take full advantage of the surrounding countryside..

This was a relatively late booking. I had stayed here some years ago and have fond memories. Firstly, the location is wonderful. The accommodation was beyond criticism, we were lucky enough not to have needed the wood burning stove. The kitchen facilities and equipment were generous and the rooms well proportioned. The upstairs area benefitted from a porthole window looking out over the bay. I like to use a gym in the morning as I can no longer run, so I took advantage of this facility. There are of course other facilities including a pool and tennis courts. So to sum up - a lovely relaxing stay in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Recommended without hesitation. If you have never visited this area you are in for a wonderful surprise.
