Stayed Mar 30, 2026This property is really all about its spectacular view and stunning sunsets over the Kohala Coast. Can’t beat that. The property is nice and private. Communication with the owner was perfect and so was check-in and check-out. We hope to come back soon.

Stayed Jan 20, 2026My husband and I loved our 6 week stay at this bright and airy elevated octagon house. The location is ideal- halfway between bustling Waimea and the gorgeous white sand beaches nearby . The house was well stocked , comfortable, and the deck provided great views of the stars, sunset, and ocean. Although the owner Yumi lives in a separate home on this spacious property, she respected our privacy , but was very communicative and immediately available when needed. We loved the Seafood Bar and Ciprianos in Kawaihae, as well as Pau, the Surf Camp, Waimea coffee company, and Big island Brewer in Waimea. Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed Feb 17, 2025The cottage really is an octagon! The decks with views of the ocean and views of the beautiful hills behind were just wonderful. We grilled one night, ate breakfast outside, and absolutely loved star gazing. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed (including a blender), and the bathroom was clean and nicely designed.Yumi was a great host: always easy to communicate with and had quick answers to questions. The Pu'ukohola Heiau National Historic Site was an amazing place to see whales, and there were volunteers to help spot them on Tuesday morning. We drove south of Captain Cook for snorkeling one day and it was great to see another part of the island. The farmer's market in Waimea was full of fresh food and friendly people. There is so much to do on Hawaii. This place was a great jumping off point for adventures, and it was also a wonderful place to relax

Stayed May 26, 2024If you want to stay where you'll experience the open expansiveness that is the Big Island, then this unique unit is your ticket. Located on the sloping plane between Waimea and the coast, you'll be minutes away from civilization yet out on the open ranching grasslands with a spectacular view of the water... Check-in couldn't have been easier, Yumi was swift to respond to any communications, and the building itself is one-of-a-kind. I'd definitely go back.

Stayed Jan 14, 2024Loved the location and the views. Between Waimea and Kawaihae just a short trip to either town. Markets in Waimea are a treat to visit, Kawaihae harbor, Spencer Beach Park, Kiholo Bay, Hawi and Pololu Valley all in easy driving distance. The house is well equipped and very comfortable and host Yumi is so helpful. Good food and fun atmosphere at the Kawaihae Seafood Bar and Grill. Saw beautiful sunsets and lots of whales.

Stayed Aug 1, 2023Amazing property. So much better than the resort vibe. Unless that is your thing. Yumi was very helpful. The house is very unique being shaped like an octagon. Great appliances and everything you need. You have your choice of looking at the mountain or the ocean. The sunsets from this altitude are spectacular. There is no need for A/C even on a hot day because of the amazing winds, and design of the home. I’m from Hawaii but live on the mainland now, returning home to see family. We always book a VRBO, and this is now our favorite. Saw a wild boar and lots of birds. Loved it. We were fortunate to be there during high winds and it was incredibly beautiful to experience.
