Stayed Jan 1, 1The Sanctuary provides everything you'll need for a relaxing, comfortable stay..& more! From the welcoming complimentary bottle of wine & traditional IOW shortbread, to the fantastic roof top garden views! The thoughtful simple caring touches really help, such as the WiFi passwords & emergency contacts & all info set out in the folder..no guesswork & looking up needed! the leaflets on places to visit, the well stocked & labelled kitchen - items such as food bags, cling film & tin foil, washing up & hand wash (provided in all bathrooms too + loo tolls), washing machine & dishwasher detergents, kitchen paper & tea/coffee/sugar & milk sachets to use in the canisters, & the games, books, dvd's, games console +games, all helped greatly :)) The furnishings & beds are of good quality, relaxing & comfortable too. I feel that Island Holiday Homes have really thought about the comfort of thier guests as the Sanctuary was a fantastic place to stay

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We had a lovely family holiday here. There were 2 families, including 3 children. There was plenty of space for everyone to spread out. The bedrooms were very comfortable and everything was well appointed. However, there wasn’t any gas in the bbq and this wasn’t replaced when we tried to call. The wardrobe in the top twin bedroom smelt horrible. A retractable washing line is needed in the garden for a house this size and a long handled brush to clean up the sand. Also the door to the balcony needs a support to stop it blowing into the corner of the roof and smashing. Saying this we had a wonderful holiday and the position is fantastic for the beach and the children loved evening swims and going for ice cream after dinner.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We loved the accommodation. Just a couple of things like no washing machine cupboard door and slow shower over bath in double ensuite but really nothing to complain about. For myself and partners Mum, would have liked a full length mirror in our bedrooms near a plug socket but still nothing to complain about and just an idea for future guests. We had an amazing time and the property was brilliant. Would definitely recommend to others.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We booked The Sanctury for a second year as it was a great house for the family in a great location. Only one shower at a time could happen as it reduced the water pressure to zero if more than one tap was running. The dining chairs were very flakey and the residue kept sticking to our legs and clothes. Although we appreciate the cleaning process, not to be able to have access until 5pm on arrival with a family felt inconvenient and to be asked to vacate at 9am on departing seemed a little extreme. Given all those points, we would recommend this property, as the good still far outweighs the points I’ve made, they just need to be considered when booking. Thank you for letting us all stay!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The house that we stayed in was in good condition. When we first arrived the house and rooms were all cleaned and wiped down. There was plenty of space in the bedrooms to store all of your clothes with the drawers and wardrobes, and plenty of hangers to go with them. There was plenty of pots and pans to use in the kitchen to feed 7 people, along with a big fridge freezer to store enough food as well. Dishwasher and washing machine as well, only tiny downside was that if you did any washing, there was only 1 clothes horse to dry your clothes, there was no washing line. The dining room / living room was nice with the doors out to the garden, big table to enough people to gather round and to eat, there was only 1 light in the room though, so at night it was a bit dim. There is another living room at the top of the stairs with 2 sofas and another t.v. which was lovely to relax to in the evening, especially with the doors open out to the balcony which provided and lovely area to relax day or night. Added lights on the balcony made extra special at evening and night. Could of easily spent all my time on the balcony. Location is superb. 5 minute walk to the beach, 5 minute walk to the high street with all the your food shops and other local shops. Sainsburys and Co-Op as well for any food top ups you need. And a bus stop literally across the road from the house. Plenty of options within a small walking distance. Overall i would say this holiday home was amazing and would definitely consider using it again in the future!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This property has an excellent location, literally 5 minutes to the beach. Ideal house to stay in for our family group of 4 adults and 3 children, 2 en-suites and a family bathroom made life easy and we could all get ready at the same time. Bedrooms good size and with the addition of the games room at the top of the house made it a fun place to stay! I would return with my family and would definitely recommend a booking. Thank you.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969It's a lovely house, well equipped and in a convenient location, sadly however our stay was marred by a few issues. The master bedroom bedding had not been changed on our arrival leaving a visible discolouration to the pillows and sheets from the previous occupants, unfortunately, we failed to spot this until late evening when we headed to bed. Discovering the out of hours support number is only available for just a few hours on Friday and Saturday evenings we had little choice to spend a quite disgusting night using dirty bedding and the first day of our holiday washing and drying it ourselves. The first morning we also discovered the 1st-floor shower was broken and could not be turned on and that the master bedroom en-suite door was so sticky a young member of our family got stuck inside and became understandably distressed. We reported these issues on Sunday morning. On Monday morning we received a call back from Island holidays who were frankly unapologetic until we mentioned that we had photographic evidence. The cleaning team was then recalled, they declared the still sticky door fine and changed the now clean bedding again. The shower was finally fixed on the last full day of our trip. We made a formal complaint about the issues, the owners' response has been abysmal. Rather than accepting in good faith the issues we reported and have evidence for, we've been falsely accused us of the theft of towels, told we somehow caused the issues with the shower and stiff door, accused of breaking a loft hatch none of our party can even remember seeing let alone touching and accused of damaging an already degraded sofa we simply sat on. I believe it is how you deal with issues when they arise that shows your customers who you really are. On this basis, I would avoid The Sanctuary as it has turned into anything but.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This was a real home away from home! A lovely house, clean and tidy, with everything provided you could need from a place to stay whilst on holiday. Perfectly located in Sandown, on a quiet street within minutes of the beach and local quirky shops. A ten minute walk to the train station, and a five minute walk to the pier. There are also two bus stops at the end of the road which you can use to travel to other destinations on the isle. The only negative comments I have are the bedrooms need curtains, the white blinds didn't keep out the sun early in the morning, and the garden needs higher fences to separate you from your neighbours.
