Completed in 1925, the cottage was the first home built on Pinehurst No. 2. It originally belonged to Willie Wilson, a famed golf instructor and close friend of legendary course architect Donald Ross. After seeing the cottage in 2021, Riggs purchased the property and we've worked hard since to evolve this historic gem into a dream golf cottage for any group.

Really enjoyed how stay at the Riggs Cottage. It was perfect for the 8 golfers in our group. Beds were comfortable, very clean and had the amenities that we needed for a great stay.

First impression upon entering is that the house was untidy, with refrigerator and pantry full of half-used items, poorly equipped & very small kitchen in terms of pots/pans/skillet/utensils, Keurig didn't work and not even a teakettle to boil water. Bedroom closets with stuff like unmade pallets thrown in. One of the upstairs beds was discovered to contain a sock inside the sheets--- definitely not one of ours. Plumbing issue in the (solitary) downstairs bathroom attached to master BR-- when draining tub, black stuff backed up into toilet and sink. Lack of a downstairs half-bath is a problem for a big house that could house lots of people. Lot of lights didn't work. A table in an alcove next to the kitchen was evidently set up to accept memorabilia from other guests-- bunch of off-putting junk and a waste of floor space that could be a nice breakfast nook. There were animal scratching sounds in the living room (squirrels? possum? rats?). A tangled mess of cables and electrical wiring and power strip hanging alongside the fireplace-- an eyesore and potential safety hazard (kids). The outdoor gas grill had two propane tanks, both empty. We were asked on our first day there by mgmt to put already full trashcans- previous guests-- out on the street. The only thing to recommend this house is its great location adjacent to the third hole of Course # 2. It could be a great house, but in its present state does not represent a good value.

This is a historic property and one of just a few on the famous #2 course. This is for the golf lover. You won’t be disappointed.
