You will be two minutes away from all the activities. As much as we love pets, we understand that there are people that are allergic to dog and cat dander so I'm sorry but no are pets allowed.

Please note that although the house sleeps upto 12, only 8 adults can sleep comfortably (1 king, 1 queen, 4 twin beds). Other beds are best suited for children (2 sofabeds and 1 futon). The house is in a residential neighborhood and we do not allow loud parties and events. We expect our guest to keep the noise level low after 11PM. We welcome family reunions as long as the guests are respectable to the house and the neighbors.

Note: A pool pass will be provided to guests with unlimited entry at $6/person daily during their stay (and in season). Public amenities include, but are not limited to golf, ski/snowboarding, tubing, ice skating, go-karts, zip line, mini golf, water park, etc.

Please note that bugs, mice and other critters are permanent residents of this mountain community. We do our best to keep them outdoor but is not unusual to have an unwanted guest from time to time.

This property had one problem after another. The first, there was no electricity in the kitchen. The microwave didn't work, the coffee machine didn't work. When I reached out to the management company, they told me that I would have to go around back into a crawlspace and attempt to flip the circuit switch. The worst part of our stay was on the last day, when we found bedbugs. After many phone calls and hours on the phone to VRBO, Expedia and the management company, they wanted to issue me a pitiful refund for the weekend, I had to reverse the charge through my credit card agency. The place was overall dirty-cobwebs in the lights fixtures, dated, bedbugs, and toilets that gurgled in the sink when you flushed them. I would not recommend this place at all. I did reached out to the the management company before writing this review because I wanted to offer them the opportunity to clean up their property and rent it again, but they were not sympathetic at all. I do not believe they have taken the proper steps to get rid of the bedbugs or have any intention of doing so by the way they dismissed my complaint.

The house overall was good. The upkeep could have been a lot better. There are a few boards on the floor that are coming up. There is a brick that is loose in the family room. In the hallway bathroom, the rack on the wall is broken(a screw is missing) It did feel like the house(inside and outside) was not professionally cleaned in awhile. We came across a few spider webs and spiders in a few corners of the house. We couldn't really enjoy the outside scenery because there were spider webs everywhere(on the grill, chairs, on the house, etc...) I know there is nothing that could be done with the inside stairs but it would have been nice to know that they were steep. We had 4 little ones with us(two 4yr olds, a 3yr and a 2yr old) the main kids room is upstairs. So we did spend a little time making sure they didn't fall coming down the stairs. The washer and dryer did not work properly. The inside of the dryer is broken and couldn't dry our clothes. Lastly, it says it was 2 pullout queen beds and a Fulton that's a queen. We only saw 1 pullout and the Fulton. If the upkeep was a lot better, it could have been a 5 star.

Our family of 5 stayed at the Gingerbread Cottage for 3 nights to celebrate our daughter's college graduation from JMU. The location was ideal as it was not far from Harrisonburg and close to restaurants. We had fun at Cave Hill Brewery, which was close and had great meals at Thunderbird Cafe (breakfast) and Hank's (great bbq dinner). We highly recommend staying at this property and would return if in the area again.

We had a great time at the gingerbread house. The house has all the kitchen utensils you need and some welcoming extras. The cabin location is close enough to restaurants, grocery stores and wineries but far enough from the main road. You can’t go wrong with the gingerbread house.

We truly enjoyed our stay at this cute, little cabin. We were right on the resort property within a minute or two from the slopes/tubing/waterpark, etc. Our only complaint would be the accessibility to the pullout beds. I would confirm with the owner the sleeper sofa has been fixed or replaced and the futon (to my family) was too small to sleep our size children. The futon would most definitely fit toddler size. Just confirm if you have multiple people to sleep. Overall, our stay was very enjoyable. Also, within 10 mins to the grocery store. Very convenient location.

We had a great time here. Master bedroom is great and has a good mattress. Back deck is peaceful. Several Roku TVs around the house. And various games for the kids were found in the loft which was a nice touch.

My family and I stayed at The Gingerbread House for my brothers graduation from JMU. House is exactly as pictured and described. It’s a perfect and cozy home for family. There were two living areas we could spread out and a perfect little dining room for family meals. The hosts had these cute little bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash set up and plenty of linens. Really lovely stay.
