We stayed in Fisherman’s Cottage for 2 nights at the end of our stay in Florida, We wish had found this gem earlier in our trip. The cottage is stunning and beautifully decorated and adorned with amazing fish related artwork. Appliances were all high end as was the bedding and all was spotlessly clean. The cottage is a 10 minute walk to the main centre of Mount Dora where you find plenty of restaurants and bars, and access to Lake Dora, where a boat tour is well worth doing. Mount Dora is a lovely place to visit and would not hesitate to recommend Fisherman’s Cottage as a great place to stay. Liz and Lee are delightful hosts, nothing too much trouble for this fabulous couple .

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Fisherman's Cottage. Conveniently located walking distance to downtown. Loved the screened porch in the front and back of the cottage. Very clean and lots of cute extras like Swedish Goldfish to go along with the cottage's theme. Excellent communication from the host.

We walked through the door to JOY, WELCOMING and COMFY COZY! The love and attention to detail was so evident. The online photos are an excellent representation but honestly the cottage is even better.Upon arriving I had to explore all of its aquatic treasures. Every time I went into a room I found something new that grabbed my attention. I had to touch and play with everything. I spent time every day with the stained glass kaleidoscopeI’m 63 and still a kid. This home has everything. I’m going to include a few pictures of things you’re average vrbo owner would overlook ( not to mention Baileys for your coffee) WOW..

The Fisherman's Cottage was perfect in every way. We enjoyed all the great sculptures and art throughout the house. All of the rooms (kitchen, bathrooms, laundry) were updated and provided us with all - and more - of everything we needed for our month's stay. We especially enjoyed the 2 screened in porches for relaxing. Liz and Lee (we have stayed at another of their houses previously) are excellent hosts. Could not recommend this place more. As a plus, it's very walkable to downtown!

This cutest 100 year old Fisherman’s Cottage is so cool and unique in every way! The host left us a neat gift and note along with the most delicious fresh fruit and eggs! It truly felt like Liz and Lee put a lot of love and care in everything. The kitchen is well stocked with good quality utensils, and they even had my favorite brand of paper towels and toilet paper:)We enjoyed some quiet time on two very comfortable porches.Location is great also, we were able to go into the town and enjoyed exploring cafes and little shops!

Arrived in the evening, and lights were on, which was very welcoming and indeed helpful. We loved the place. Our daughter joined us for a few days in the middle of our stay, and she loved it too. It’s well located to get into Mount Dora, but also to get out of Mount Dora. It’s a great location. Parking is good next to the house. Nice covered porch way entrance, that can be helpful during Florida weather. Rooms were all clean and tidy, and some very unique, cute decor. We felt very comfortable, and even got a nice welcome note from the owner/s on arrival. It should be noted that I can’t fault the communication with the owner in any way. It was excellent throughout.I would highly recommend the place.

The kitchen was fully stocked, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and we loved the sheets and pillows. Peaceful outdoor space — perfect for morning coffee or evening wine. The location was ideal, close to downtown Mount Dora and all the great shops and restaurants. Communication with the Liz and Lee was smooth and prompt, and check-in was super easy.We truly felt like we were at a home away from home. We were amazed how lovely the cottage was and so clean and stocked with everything you can imagine. Liz is over the top friendly and makes sure your stay will be wonderful making sure we had all we needed. We went to Leesburgh bike fest, which was only 15 minutes away. Everything else in town was walking distance. We happen to be there at the same time as the blueberry festival and that was very charming as well. We would definitely return to this cottage as the hospitality, the Cleanliness and most of all the artsy decor, especially finding some hidden gems! Loved it !

It’s not often that you get to go somewhere that is highly rated, that exceeds your expectations, but this was it. First of all the host was top notch with communication, not too much but just the right amount. The property is located a couple of minutes away from downtown and the antique market. Every detail of the cottage is well thought out and it makes it hard to want to leave. So much thought and love went into the care of the Fisherman's cottage and our experience was so great that I would only consider staying at the host property if I return to Mount Dora.

We’re two couples fortunate to find this dream cottage available for two weeks in February! I remember seeing the listing for this rental when searching in past years, but because of the fisherman name and the low price for a two bed/2 bath, I didn’t click on it as I wrongly assumed it was an average place for guys who came to Mount Dora to fish the many lakes. Boy was I wrong! I mean, yes, it would be great for that, and my husband definitely loved the house as much if not more than I did, but when searching this year, I was desperately clicking on everything available because I had waited so long to book. Turned out it was just what I look for when visiting Florida… Nautical theme, historic yet feels new, quaint and quiet neighborhood, washer/dryer, CLEAN, very comfortable beds, high-quality bedding, and towels, large closets, one walk-in shower, one shower/tub… And then to push it over the top.. Large screened in porches to sit and read or watch the people walking downtown & back, a house stocked with everything you could possibly need, birdfeeder to watch the birds out the kitchen window every morning, and OH MY the high-end decor that kept us all saying “can you believe this?” You don’t have to be an art aficionado to enjoy and appreciate the love care and expense that has gone into this lovely rental by the nicest host you could ask for. Liz has a talent for decorating and a passion for hosting. Her goal is truly for her guests to have a joyous stay!!

The Fisherman’s Cottage in Mount Dora, Florida is the kind of place that’s easy to drift into — clean, quiet, and swimming with thoughtful details and artful aquatic-themed touches that made our stay both comfortable and visually inspiring. From the moment we walked in, it was clear this wasn’t just another drop in the sea of short-term rentals. The cottage was spotless — like, freshly reeled-in kind of clean — and so well stocked we barely had to unpack. From makeup remover to farm-fresh eggs straight from the hosts’ own chickens, it felt the hosts had thought of everything before we knew we needed it.The ocean-inspired décor goes way beyond a few decorative fish. This place is a mini gallery of sculptural sea creatures — octopuses, fish, and more — from artists with some serious global flair. It’s creative, quirky, and full of personality — like staying in the guest house of an art-loving, well-traveled mermaid.Speaking of thoughtfulness, Liz and Lee were wonderful hosts. They were there when needed, never hovering, and always making sure things were going swimmingly. Their attention to detail and the care they put into the space stood out.The location is peaceful, with Mount Dora’s downtown charm just a short drive or walk away. Mornings were best spent sipping coffee on the porch, with birds visiting the feeder just outside the kitchen window and fresh eggs waiting in the fridge. In short, we'd drop anchor here again in a heartbeat — this place reeled us in.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this beautiful fisherman’s cottage! From the moment we arrived, we were enchanted by the charming coastal decor, a variety of artful creatures from the sea , and peaceful atmosphere. Every detail of the home was thoughtfully designed, from the cozy, sea-inspired furnishings to the well-stocked kitchen—perfect for cooking the amazing organic eggs we were welcomed with when we arrived. The location was ideal—just steps from historic downtown Mount Dora, with easy access to local quaint shops, and delicious restaurants. We especially loved sipping coffee on the deck each morning listening to the birds chirp. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and provided everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay.If you're looking for a serene retreat with all the charm of a classic cottage steps from downtown Mount Dora, this is the place! This cottage is one of the best places which we have had the pleasure to stay! The hosts, Liz and Lee, create an atmosphere of fun, comfort, and delight! They are conscientious communicators and very clear and thorough with their communications about check in, etc. It is exceptionally clean, beautifully and uniquely decorated, and it offers anything a traveler might need while there. It is within easy walking distance to downtown Mt. Dora (with its fun shopping and restaurant areas), in a quiet neighborhood, and within easy driving distance the public library and to Publix if one is inclined to eat in. There are two screened in porches - front and back - both with chairs and side tables. I believe you will not be disappointed if you decide to book this place! It’s an experience in itself!

We are from South Florida and have always used Mount Dora as a local staycation getaway. Having not been back in 20 years, I was so pleased to find the Historic District not only maintained, but the quaint downtown protected from large big box retail and restaurants. Complimenting that are the 3 homes owned by Liz and Lee. We stayed at The Fisherman's Cottage, an easy 1/2 mile walk to the downtown. Liz was not only easily reachable leading up to the stay and during, but she also helped us plan locations for romantic dinners and local things a tourist would not otherwise know to ask for. Thanks again Liz. You made our anniversary weekend magical, romantic, and felt like we were staying in our own private getaway cottage. We will definitely be staying at their properties again.

As usual, Liz and Lee have provided another 5-star experience!!! They have 3 houses, that I know of, and ALL are excellent. If you haven't experienced one of their properties before, get ready to relax and enjoy the totally perfect, small-town Florida stay...in style. Absolutely immaculate, yet homey. Modern, comfy furniture, incredible beds, spa towels, everything you need in the kitchen...just every amenity you might need, period. Short walk to town on quiet, oak-lined streets. It's like being in yesteryear. Including a welcome note and fresh eggs. Unheard of!!! This artistic immersion, which is sea life themed, is a delight. The artwork and decorations are simply amazing. How wonderful to be able to experience artists from around the world while lounging in a rental. Par for the course for these hosts. To think that for the cost of a hotel room you get an entire home filled with delightful artwork. This place even boasts large front & back porches. This place is definitely a prize catch! Thanks Liz and Lee for always making everything so smooth and easy. You always provide an unmatched stay.

This is the most amazing rental I have ever had the pleasure of staying. There was nothing we could have wanted in the house that was not available. The artwork throughout the house was over the top! Fish of all kinds were the focal point: almost too many to take in. The owner, Liz, was incredible. My only disappointment was not meeting her in person!
