Welcome! This charming 1920's 2 bedroom 1 bath Craftsman style home is located on one acre and less than 2 miles from the heart of Atascadero.
You can travel in any direction and explore some great places in SLO County. There is Paso Robles Wine country, Paso Robles Event Center with the Mid-State Fair and Lake Nacimiento to the north, to the east there is the Carizzo Plains National Monument, to the west there is Morro Bay, Cayucos and the Pacific Ocean, to the North West there isCambria, San Simeon including scenic Hwy 1, and to the south there is quaint Santa Margarita and Santa Margarita Lake, San Luis Obispo, Grover and Pismo Beach. San Luis Obispo County also boasts the Los Padres National Forest with plenty of hiking trails that can be accessed near Atascadero.
The Cottage was simply built in the 1920's and updated with function in mind. It is one of the original Colony homes in Atascadero. It is well suited for four people. It has a front porch with rockers that you can enjoy the evenings on...even take your meal there. There are two bedrooms; one with a queen size bed and the other with a double bed. Both have a dresser and a closet in their rooms. A full size oven and stove, microwave, dishwasher and full size refrigerator are provided in the kitchen. The bathroom is equipped with a shower/tub combination and a heater for your comfort. There is a BBQ in the back yard that is stored in the shed near the house, and a table and chairs for outdoor use. There are a number of oak trees on the property which gives the front yard a park like setting. Deer meander through the yard each evening and you might even see a turkey every now and then. Walk the 'San Clemente loop' and enjoy the diverse architecture of homes and landscaping along the route.
Interesting points of Atascadero: There is fabulous weather. The average high in the summer is 90 degrees, low is 56. The winter highs are 62 and lows are 37. The summers can be gorgeous with warm days and evenings. There is a great park and lake where you can rent paddle boats, canoes, feed the ducks or have a family gathering and rent BBQ pits. Located near the park is the Charles Paddock Zoo. Atascadero hosts many events such as wine tasting, Christmas in the Park and other holiday events each weekend in December, and a summer concert series. A great place to find out more information on Atascadero is the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce at www.atascaderochamber.org
We hope you enjoy your stay here.

The Colony Cottage never disappoints--that's why I go back. The house is charming and the location spectacular, The hosts, Donna and Charles, are phenomenal--highly responsive and helpful for anything you need.

WE enjoyed the well stocked kitchen and beds, and lovely views out of every window into the oaks and green hills.

Comfortable, good location (quick trip to Vons, Trader Joes, Templeton, Paddock Zoo), good neighbors (they had two adorable kittens and several dogs who loved to visit) and interesting scenery.

Beds were comfortable. Quiet area. Kitchen fairly well equipped. I would have loved at least one sharp knife to use. Also the living room furniture looks and feels like from the 80’s but it was okay. Loved how cute it was from the outside and the big old oak trees. Only other negative was that the smoke sectors went off for no reason and of course it was close to bedtime. Donna was so helpful in helping us fix the situation. Really great people.

The ad was very frank about age of cottage and surroundings but really sold themselves short a little! I thought it was a great backyard—big garden and beautiful topography. House was big with beautiful wood floors and a huge kitchen! We were there in November so we didn’t need air. Heater was a little noisy now and then,as stated, but worked just fine. Location is a little out in the boonies but was extremely quiet. We liked it a lot!

Three sisters traveling to area for family and County Fair. Wonderful and relaxing cottage. Quiet and clean. Fans available to stifle the heat. Close to our destinations. Enjoyed the concert at the Zoo park. Enjoyed the Fair also. Look forward to visiting again.

Great, clean, affordable cottage with a wonderful front porch. Warm afternoons, cool evenings, easy access to the coast. If you require central A/C you may want to explore elsewhere. But if you’re the type who loves an old craftsman home in a country neighborhood this is the place for you. We loved opening up all the windows to receive the cool morning and evening air. A real delight.
