Quaint lake cottage in a small association with shared lake frontage. Being a holiday weekend owners of the other cottages were present. Owners were very friendly with shared evening camp fires allowing good conversation. Nice to hear their very diverse stories.
Stay was nice. Perfect spot, the neighbors happen to be from same area as us. Love the beach area and sunsets.
We were let down by the facility. The musty odor of a very old home and its belongings greets you as soon as you enter. The smell persists for the rest of the week. I sat down on the couch and placed my coffee on the table after we had unpacked a few items, only to discover a dozen decaying blueberries between the couch and the table. The house need thorough cleaning, although it is clear from scrolling about that only a little amount of effort is spent on this. The windows facing a walkway used by the other cottages do not have any form of window coverings, so everyone strolling by looks into the living and kitchen. We were without parking for two nights until we could convince the patrons of the local pub to move their cars from the cottage parking lot. The bar is very busy and doesn't have enough parking Overall, it is an old cottage with all the characteristics of an old cottage, including things that don't work correctly; nonetheless, it has a modern vacation rental price as you see when you check out on VRBO. I'd like to thank the property manager for being very wonderful to work with; she answered a few questions we had when we reserved our vacation and on our first day.
I loved the location of this cute little cottage! My partner and I stayed here middle of July to visit neighboring cities and the cottage was the perfect in between stay! Could've used more cleaning as there were lots of dead bugs around, but it was an easy cleanup. Beautiful lake access, a bit rocky but perfect to find fossils!
The lake views and access were to die for. The property itself is a charming traditional northern michigan mini-resort, with much of the original charm left intact including lovely vintage doors (including old-school cottage panel doors), a beautifully trimmed stone fireplace, and cottage-style landscaping. Upgrades like a large shower, dual flush toilet, and good-size freezer/fridge were appreciated! It was clean and tidy when we arrived and easy to tidy up before checking out. The location is fantastic. As an FYI, it appears to be undergoing renovations with some work not yet finished— for example, much of the trim has been replaced/repaired, but there was rotted wood and an open (empty) electrical box by the front door. I’d recommend it! Cell service is great, btw.
