Manzanita, Oregon
Twenty years ago we gutted a 1930s 650 square foot fishing shack and expanded the footprint to create a three bedroom, two bath beach house. A labor of love, Sunbursts boasts three beautiful cedar sunbursts, three decks and a porch, a propane stove, and is nestled among heavy foliage just 4 blocks from the ocean.
Sunbursts' three bedrooms are cozy, one with a queen sized bed and two with full sized beds. A study just off the large, airy kitchen holds a sleeping bench. Two full baths, and a large living room area with DVD/video player complete the 1050 sq. ft. layout. The cabin is complete with linens, dishes, etc. with a drawer full of family games and puzzles, and a great collection of books and films. Wifi is available 24/7.
Manzanita's Hoffman Cultural Center programs events and just up the highway is Astoria with its Victorian houses and amazing maritime center, and Canon Beach with its art galleries. Between these two towns is an outlet mall and a hospital in Seaside. We now have an Urgent Care Center just to the south of Manzanita!

Property is in a great location to downtown and the ocean. Plus it is secured and also private. Owners you can tell have done a really good job with maintaining. The only issue I had was they could use new mattresses and we are pretty sure the sheets had not been washed prior.
We enjoyed our stay at this house. The location is excellent, a short walk to town and the beach. The house was clean and had everything we needed.
Such a cute place! Kitchen is well stocked, beds are comfy. We very much enjoyed our stay. Thank you, Susan!
Our 3 week stay was wonderful. It’s a beautiful artsy house with great comfort features- location is perfect. Our 4th time back to Manzanita from NJ our first time renting this house we love it here. Hope to return Steve and Bonnie
We loved our stay at this cozy cabin-like home and enjoyed all of the personal touches, including the cute reading book with daybed just off the kitchen. It’s a fantastic location. If you like sleek and modern this isn’t the place for you! But we enjoyed the charm and character and had a great stay!
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Every day we tried out a different place to sit - so many nooks inside and out. The whole place felt like our favorite jeans and favorite shirt, it felt good to o be there.
Charming cottage near the center of town. Surrounded by mature trees and foliage, this locale is perfect for a relaxing getaway. The open concept kitchen and dining area were perfect for cooking, socializing, and game nights. The multiple outdoor decks lent themselves to hosting morning coffee, an afternoon siesta, or simply watching the chipmuks and birds.
Susan’s space was welcoming and comfortable to be in. The walls are filled with art and Knick knacks that reflect her, which was so nice in contrast to the IKEA filled rentals. There are several seating areas, inside and out. The rooms are small but who spends their time in Manzanita sleeping?! The town and beach are both just a short walk away. We also enjoyed the vibrant Friday afternoon farmers market. I hope to make this an annual visit!
We really enjoyed our stay in Manzanita at Sunburst Cottage. There are many nearby places to visit and it is just a beautiful area in general. The house is situated in a nice quiet neighborhood and worked out perfectly for our grown family of four. We would like to come back!
This was our first time staying in Manzanita, and we love the walkability of this home to the beach and town. This home was absolutely perfect! Great location, right size, right price… very comfortable home. The pilot light had been turned off by a previous renter, and the owner was very prompt with getting it turned on so we could stay toasty warm. Could not have asked for better service! We look forward to returning here.
Super cute, comfortable house for our Oregon trip. Felt like home. Great location. We will definitely be renting this property again!
Perfect house for a few days in lovely Manzanita
Lovely cottage, nice quiet neighborhood, walking distance to beach & shops
This is our 3rd or 4th stay here and we absolutely love it. We will be back!
Charming cottage in a woodsy setting. Convenient location.
Some rentals feel like hotels; this one actually had personality, and staying there felt like staying in someone's actual home (but stocked for guests). The outdoor lounging areas are lovely, there's a huge drawer of games, and you can indeed walk to town and the beach.
My husband and I enjoyed this comfortable home and its proximity to Short Sand, Indian and Manzanita beaches. We liked cooking in the lovely kitchen and sipping coffee on the little deck. A very pleasant stay.
What a wonderful place to relax and enjoy all that Manzanita has to offer. The location couldn’t be better with an easy walk to the beach, shops & restaurants. We loved the wooded setting with multiple outdoor decks and porches to sip a beer, wine or simply watch the birds. The house was filled with wonderful art and everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Truly a sanctuary for us and we plan to return again next year!
Very nice house. Plenty of room for five. Will return for sure!
We had so much fun at this property. The house is a great size and in a great location. A short walk to town and the beach. Definitely will be coming back. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay.
It’s incredible to be surrounded my trees, hearing the sounds of the ocean, and watching the friendly blue jays, hummingbirds and robins drop by for a visit. The home is clean and cozy with just enough of everything you need. Our group had a lovely time—studying/reading and relaxing in the nooks here and there. Loved this home.
