Skye (Lodge No5), accredited with a Silver Green Tourism Award for sustainable practices and values, offers cosy, dog friendly accommodation for three, in the scenic Lerags Glen on the West Coast.

The rural location ensures peace and privacy but is still less than 3 miles from the vibrant harbour town of Oban, with views across open farmland and walks from the door. Within the same site there is a small children's play area and The Barn, a rustic pub with plenty of character (open allyear but restricted hours over the winter). A good place to catch up over a drink and tasty local fare following the days adventures. Due to its rural location, you can enjoy some amazing star gazing on a clear night.

Oban, known as the Seafood Capital of Scotland, has a wide range of seafood & fish restaurants and an excellent fish shop if you wish to cook your own. A visit to the Green Seafood Shack on the quayside is a must for those who love their shellfish. The town is otherwise known as the Gateway to the Isles with the Calmac ferry terminal on South Pier giving access by boat to Mull, Colonsay, Tiree, Lismore and Barra. And there's a handy water taxi across to Oban's nearest island - Kerrera - from the town's North Pier.

The town has two impressive cathedrals and an array of independent shops, including the must visit Oban Chocolate Shop and Oban Distillery. There are several supermarkets, cafes, pubs and restaurants, a cinema, golf course, swimming pool and a selection of other land and water-based sports facilities. Not forgetting safe sandy beaches for those looking for a traditional ‘seaside holiday', numerous historical sites within easy reach including Dunstaffnage and Dunollie Castles and Inveraray Jail and for the horticulturist's, visits to Inveraray Castle & Gardens and Arduaine Gardens are a must. There really is plenty for all ages to explore.

Really loved our stay. There was a huge storm and they handled it well. The Barn is great for food/drinks.

Great holiday cottage. You can also enjoy good food there, and if you're lucky, even some local live music. Everything was fine; they just need to replace the draft strip on the door. When the wind hits the door, it makes noise.

This is a marvelously idyllic location with sheep in the hills and birds soaring about. The peace and quiet were much appreciated, yet it was only a quick 10-minute drive into the heart of Oban. It was an excellent base of operations for exploring the nearby islands, and I would love to go back and just stay as a sort of retreat.

This was a perfect home base for our time in and around Oban and the islands!
