Stayed Aug 23, 2025The cottage is very rustic. The location overlooking the lake for sunrise, sunset is spectacular. Although small, the beach area water was sparkling clean. Dogs had a wonderful time.

Stayed Aug 2, 2025Talk about best kept secret. I almost hate to tell anyone how wonderful this location is. The listing, and the hosts explanation of how rustic the cottage is, was accurate. It’s an historic cottage perched on a smooth rock point that’s nestled at the end of a dead-end lane. You come to this place for the lake; to swim, tube, cruise, and fish. That is exactly what our family loved and appreciated. Our hosts met us upon arrival. Fresh bread in hand and a brief guided tour of the property and cabin. The cottage had a spacious screened muskoka room as shelter from rain and mosquitos but we were pleasantly surprised that the bugs were not bad during this time of year. The breeze through the muskoka room helped on those hot days. And the view of the lake was amazing while we sipped our morning coffee and planned our day. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked for all cooking needs. Water is not potable, so be sure to bring your own water for cooking and drinking. That said, there was plenty of hot water for showering and dishes. Great private dock and boat launch right across the lake. Free parking at boat launch plus parking for 4 vehicles and boat trailers at cabin. Some previous reviews criticize what we call “charm” about this cabin. But none of that mattered. Get outside. Enjoy the lake. Fish from the point. Swim off the rocks or the dock. Appreciate nature. Be in awe of the sunrise. Snap a pic of the sunset. Just Breath.

Stayed Sep 9, 2023My brothers, Dad, and I had a wonderful week here. The property has a fantastic northern exposure that's great for stargazing. The lake and surrounding terrain are beautiful. The cabin is classic and well cared-for. 10/10 would recommend

Stayed Aug 27, 2023The owners came by when we arrived and dropped off the homemade bread which was lovely. The road into the cottage is single lane and very rough and scary in places. Don’t arrive after dark!! The cottage is very old and in very poor shape. There are no bunk beds as described in the write up which left us without enough beds and parents bunking with kids. Only one toilet- bathroom is extremely small. There is a leak in the kitchen pipes that leaves a large pool of water on the counter. The fire stove for heating was very challenging. The list of what was expected for us to clean was lengthy including cleaning the oven. So our final day was spent cleaning instead of enjoying the fishing and swimming. We enjoyed fishing, campfires and swimming and kayaking. The kids really enjoyed playing in the woods. It is a beautiful spot and sunsets were spectacular. I would recommend serious repairs before continued rental and no more than 5 people as there isn’t enough seating at the dining table beyond that.

Stayed Jul 22, 2023If you like quiet, privacy and scenic lake views, wildlife (beavers, turtles, loons, woodpeckers, humming birds) this is the place for you. Sat has lots of noisy neighbours singing Karaoke and rocking out (til 11:30 pm) but all other nights are quiet. There is no bunk bed, a double instead. The inside is quite rustic (foundation concerns/sloping floors, wonky accordion doors, electricity not to code), the outside is ideal for swimming, fishing, kayaking, canoeing and boating. Would definitely come again. Beds are comfortable and all appliance work great.

Stayed Jul 9, 2022Some reviewers have described this cottage as rustic. This cottage is not rustic, it is dilapidated. The appliances do function, but the walls, floors, doors, minuscule bathroom, cupboards and fittings are in very poor condition due to age. The walls and floors are extremely old and have tilted in different directions and separated in places. For example, the set of doors in the the East-West interior wall has not tilted down as far as its West end has subsided. The owners have filled the resulting gap between the doors and the door frame on each side with fibre glass insulation, which remains visible and partly coated with paint. Prospective renters should ask for a picture of the bathroom. Other condition flaws are too numerous to mention.

Stayed Jun 25, 2022Great, great location - literally at the end of the road sticking out into the lake. You will need to carry everything about 30 yards over a small knoll. Not for the wheelchair or mobility challenged folks. Hosts live near by and are super responsive. Busy lake, but a very nice lake with lots of areas to explore. Need to bring your own drinking water and be prepared for a cottage your grandfather used to own in the 60's. Kitchen is very well stocked with everything you need. No wifi, but excellent cell service as there is a tower at one end of the lake.

Stayed Sep 4, 2021This is a wonderful rustic cottage; all that you need; with charm in spades and a moving history. The property is incredible...rock, trees, water and a little sand. Southern Muskoka scenery! The lake is quite interesting with arms that run off and touching the Queen Elizabeth II Wildland Provincial Park in areas. We canoed the perimeter, a leg a day, during our stay. You do overlook the lake access point across the bay and on summer weekends, it might be busy but September was glorious. The boat of choice...pontoons. The hosts, who cottage on the point of the island just across the channel, are friendly and informative...and their love for this property comes across. All in all, if you're looking for a real cottage experience and like quirks, this is a gem. We loved our time spent. B&D, Barrie, Ontario
