At the water’s edge a lounge deck with table and chairs and a small sandy beach area for children awaits you, your family & friends. Each cottage has it's own tandem kayak & camp fire pit to enjoy.

Our family had a wonderful stay at The Family Cottage on Walloon Lake. The place had a great location, private but close to everything with three busy boys! We will definitely be back! Marty the owner was awesome and very responsive!
We very much enjoyed our stay at the cottage.
Welcoming mid-century cottage with everything one needs for a comfortable stay. Throughly enjoyed the setting overlooking the lake. Sitting on the patio with a morning cup of coffee was divine as were the times lounging in the Adirondack chairs on the dock. The hosts Marty and Frank could not have been nicer.
We love staying at Marty's cottage. This was our fourth visit to the cottage and it was as wonderful as always. It is comfortable, clean, well stocked and provides a true Up North experience. The dock is amazing. Kayaks are available. There are multiple dining areas (inside and out). We also really enjoy the fire pits and fireplace. The only downside to the property is that we don't own it!
Cottage was just as described. Very clean, comfortable and tidy. All outdoor areas were beautifully landscaped and great for gatherings and campfires. Had everything you need for a lovely stay on beautiful Walloon lake. Marty ,the owner, was easy to communicate with and available. All went without a hitch.
We traveled to this property with two young families. The dock is fabulous and the water was great for our family. We rented a pontoon boat for one day and really enjoyed Walloon Lake. The campfires at night and the woods around you, really make it feel like you have gotten away from it all. Of note, there is no internet. This adds to the feeling of getting away from it all, but just should be noted in case you need to get some work done while you are on vacation. Overall, we highly recommend this property. Thank you to the Moyer's for sharing their property with us.
We were able to take our first family vacation on a whim, and ended up finding our way to The Moyers Family Cottage on beautiful Walloon Lake. This place is around 2 hours north of where we live, yet it felt like we were in a completely different world. The Caribbean Blue water is as clean and beautiful as it gets. Truly a little paradise in the woods. The owners were quick to respond and helpful in guiding us on where to rent a boat. We never even had to contact them during our stay. The cottage has a rustic/modern vibe. It was clean and stocked with necessities upon our arrival. It also has a ton of board games and a piano. A TV with a few stations. Having the laundry on site was a huge help. There are a lot of pine needles that get drug in on shoes, but I found that sweeping the floor on vacation is much more enjoyable than sweeping at home. They are soft pine needles too, not the pokey ones. There is plenty of room for a family and they even let us bring our dog, Abbie, who swam and swam until we would literally have to make her stop. There are cottages around the property, but still so much privacy. The dock out front worked well for the Pontoon we rented. We had rainy weather the majority of the week, but we were still able to get some fishing and cruising in. Caught quite a few bluegill in the millpond area north of the cottage. Having the Kayak to use was cool too. We’d never been on one before. The houses around the lake are phenomenal. We came home inspired with ideas to do to our own house and yard. This cottage is pretty much centrally located between Boyne City, Petoskey, and Charlevoix. We were able to check out all three and visit the shops and eat local food. Some of our favorite stops were the Lavender Hill Farm, the farmers market in Boyne City, Kilwins Chocolate Factory, Sturgeon River Pottery, and all the unique little shops. A week didn’t seem long enough and we miss it already. Even though our goal is to go to a different lake for a week each summer, we’ve decided to also make it a tradition to go back to The Moyers Family Cottage once a year too! We loved it THAT much. We left feeling refreshed. Looking forward to next year already!
This was our third time at the Family Cottage. We truly wish it were OUR family cottage. It perfectly captures the magic of Walloon Lake and Northern Michigan. It is clearly well-loved and well-maintained. It has everything a family could possibly need. The dock is fantastic, as are all of the outdoor areas. The house itself is perfect with lots of areas to gather and relax. Marty is a superb hostess. We cannot recommend it enough! Please just don’t take “our” weeks!
This is year number 3 for me and each year gets better as I enjoy Walloon Lake and the family cottage. The house has everything I need and the dock provides a nice place to relax and swim. The deck is my place to enjoy reading and other hobbies.
I had a wonderful week on Walloon Lake staying in the Moyer Family Cottage. I love the woods as much as I love the lake so this is the perfect place to hide away from the world. Sitting on the deck looking up at trees and the clouds, then seeing the lake and hearing the waves is what I am trying now to remember as I return to work and the city. The cottage had everything I need - great kitchen, deck, big windows - everything on one floor. The dock is spacious and has the best steps to get in and out of the lake. I stayed in the Moyer Guest Cottage last summer and loved it as well.
