Commune with the great outdoors from this Idyllwild vacation rental! With a lovely deck, woodland views, and plenty of rustic cabin-in-the-woods charm, this one-bedroom, one-bathroom home is perfect for a quiet getaway with a loved one or a few friends!
Built nearly 100 years ago, with wood accents, log beam ceilings, a stone hearth, and forest-themed decor, this home exudes plenty of cabin character. While this home is definitely for more adventurous travelers (there are a few bugs and spiders here and there), you need not go without modern conveniences while you’re here - despite its remote woodland location, it does have a compact but functional kitchenette, a television and DVD player, and a microwave. Please note there is currently no Internet access or cable at this home. But take advantage of the time here to unplug and unwind!
A cozy space, the living area offers seating on a comfy couch, a wood-burning fireplace in a stone hearth, and a small dining table with seating for two. Through a doorway, the home’s single bedroom is a quiet and peaceful space containing a queen bed, nightstands with lamps, and beautiful views out of French doors and picture windows. There's also a futon, so up to four guests will sleep here and up to 2 dogs. Perhaps the best part of this home is its spacious outdoor deck with seating and great views of the creek that meanders by and through the woods. Dine al fresco and enjoy views of the undisturbed flora and fauna.
Idyllwild's seasonal strawberry creek is right outside the door and can be heard and seen from the bedroom window! Just cross the strawberry creek Idyllwild brewpub and the town of Idyllwild- 5-minute walk! Local activities include hiking the Mt. San Jacinto Summit Trail, which begins 10 miles north, learning about the area’s natural history at the Idyllwild Nature Center a mile and a half north, and watching a concert, a recent Hollywood release, or a stand-up comedy show at the Rustic Theater in the Idyllwild town center. You could also take guided mountain biking trip with a group at The Hub Cyclery to explore the mountain canyons, forested terrain, and other beautiful outdoor areas around Idyllwild.
Ready for a relaxing getaway in the gorgeous high country wilderness of Idyllwild with your friends or family Guests can book the Twin Tree Lodge, which sits right next door, and start planning your fun-filled mountain getaway!

Clean and great location near creek
This was the perfect place for me to have a weekend away! The bedroom is directly next to a creek which is so lovely. I painted there in the mornings before going into town. It was a super quiet neighborhood and gave me the getaway I needed.
Basic charming cabin/ cottage. Lovely view of the creek from the bedroom. Short walk to town, grocery and restaurants. We enjoyed our stay. Old charm. Nothing fancy but it is the looks and charm of this rental. We would come back again.
Corner by fireplace dirty & mouse poop. Both white bed coverlets have fecal or sexual marks. TV does not have cable. This is a standard basic amenity at any hotel. The owners should at least provide cable. There are plenty of bookings on this property. They are making LOTS of money SO DONT BE CHEAP. Wicker bedroom night stands need to find a new home at the landfill. Extra blankets have holes in them - they need to be replaced. The cushion on the futon couch needs to be replaced - its flat & uncomfortable to sit or sleep on. Signage on how to find the property is EXTREMELY POOR. CARPETS ARE WORN OUT AND FILTHY (STAINS, CIGARETTE BURNS & THREAD BARE-ESPECIALLY IN THE LIVINGROOM). Wall heater in bed room did not work & no broom or dustpan - these 2 items were taken care of by the property manager. This property has great potential but THE OWNERS NEED TO PUT SOME MONEY BACK INTO IT INSTEAD OF JUST TAKING THE $$$$.
The cabin is lovely, sitting right along Strawberry Creek.
The cabin was neat clean hidden off the road and next to a beautiful running creek that made every morning perfect listening to the flowing warts just outside the window. Everything was as suggested in the add unfortunately the stove stoped working the maintenance lady was there in only 30 minutes however it was Sunday afternoon and there wasn’t much we could do about it. I will return possibly in the fall sometime.
We enjoyed our stay ay Twin Tree Cottage. However, there were a few unfortunate issues I will list below. 1) The cable did not work on the television. 2) The entire cabins power went out in the middle of us making breakfast in the morning and we had to throw away all of our food in the fridge and the entire half cooked breakfast. 3)I believe there may be a mouse problem. My typically calm dog was frantically sniffing, barking and searching the cabin the entire night looking for something. We never found it but did hear little scurrying sounds. 4) We walked through thick cobwebs quite a few times. Other than that, our stay was pleasant.
First time in Idyllwild for a one night stay and this place was perfect! Very cozy and relaxing with great surroundings. There’s a little bridge made of stones and rocks right behind the cabin that takes you the back way into town, 3 minute walk to the brewpub and another few minutes to be in the town square. Mountain Mike’s in town sells high quality firewood bundles for $10 which lasted us 4 hours hanging out by the fireplace. Our little dog loved it here too…would definitely recommend and will almost certainly be back for another getaway weekend!
It is a very minimalistic cabin. If you are looking to get away from busy-ness, this is it. And it is very close walking distance to town. Only two issues, fireplace screen is unwieldy if you want to add more logs to a fire. Second, front porch was not swept, very dusty, and no broom available. That's why the 4 for cleanliness.
This cabin is magical. My husband and I spend a week here every year and have never been disappointed. Perfect walking distance to town, quiet and peaceful. A wonderful view of Strawberry Creek. We are visited daily by chipmunks, squirrels, and beautiful birds. The neighbors are kind and friendly. Highly recommend for a breather from the rat race.
We had a great stay at Twin Tree Cottage. I would not recommend arriving at night as it is difficult to find in the dark…but we made it! It was such a great location….easy to walk to town! It was cozy and had all the amenities we needed! We would definitely book again!
We were not able to stay at the cabin we were o excited to stay at due to safety issue.. When we arrived there was a half naked man circling the property with a machete knife and a few other suspicious activities were tak9ng place behind the cabin by the creek. As a mother I did not feel safe to stay. I locked up the door and headed to the town and found a room at the inn as I did not feel safe driving back down the mountain that evening again. The vacation rental agency was very helpful and kind and refunded me We loved the town but that experience was for sure very scary and took away our magical cabin dtayy as mother and son. I would appreciate a full refund from Vrbo. Thank you
The code to do the lock given was incorrect --- took forever to get someone on the 800# AND very hard to understand. Not sure if I was calling another country. Took several hours to check in which was unsafe considering I was alone in the dark in the woods. Also - I was told there was a TV -- not true - there is a screen for DVDs.
Comfy ,cozy. Little cabin in the woods , right next to a creek. Great location to town. Enjoyed the fireplace. Our beagle puppy enjoyed the space and squirrels. Couldn’t have asked for more!!
Hiking so close by and very cute cabin!! We will be back to stay !!
