Clean house ,friendly accommodating host, and enjoyed our stay.
We very much enjoyed our stay at The Grove guest house. The house itself was beautiful, and had all the necessary amenities. It was also very convenient to downtown Frederick, Harpers' Ferry and Antietam, all of which we enjoyed visiting. Would definitely recommend it to others!
Our Cuzin's trip was great this year. We stayed at the Grove and couldn't have asked for better accommodations, amenities or hospitality. Deb, the owner stayed in the house in front and we were at the quest house though I would say that our quarters were not meager. One more day and another bathroom would have made this feel like paradise. Thanks to the internet, we had pre-planned our entire 4 day stay. I would recommend this to a group of friends who wanted to get away and have some group fun. The pictures were true to real life. I would certainly return should the need arise.
Very clean very nice Backhouse
We stayed at the Grove guest house for our youngest son's graduation from Mount St. Mary's and it was absolutely perfect! My husband and I flew in from Chicago, our older son from Portland OR, and our daughter from SC. After getting stuck in DC traffic on the way to the house, we were a tired, slightly grumpy family. Then we stepped inside the Grove house and immediately felt so much better. This home is incredible! Better than a luxury hotel - Deb really has an eye for detail and made sure that everything you could possibly need is ready and waiting. We were welcomed with a beautiful arrangement of fruit, cheese and wine, plus danish, bagels, juice and more in the refrigerator. Also, the coffee selection was great and we used the Keurig often. Bathroom had lots of towels, soap, shampoo, etc., and more importantly, lots of hot water! The TV in the living room is huge and has every channel imaginable. The furniture is very comfortable and we enjoyed watching movies and reconnecting as a family in the evening. As others have commented, the bedrooms are beautiful and really comfortable, with high-end linens and soft pillows (or medium or firm pillows if that's your preference). You really won't want to get out of bed in the morning. The upstairs bedroom was a real bonus, the kids could stay up late watching TV and we could relax and read - and more importantly sleep! - without being disturbed. Two of the beds are rather tall and we did have a chuckle watching our daughter (5' 2) climb in. We also enjoyed the property - beautifully landscaped and peaceful. Perfect to sit outside or wander around with a cup of coffee in the morning. It was rainy and cool when we were there so we didn't use the pool or jacuzzi, but we did relax in the very comfortable lounge chairs poolside. Finally, the location is great. Easy access to the expressway to get to Emmitsburg/Gettysburg and only minutes to downtown Frederick. Also, the drive back to DCA was a breeze. Deb is a great hostess and we highly recommend her property. We enjoyed it so much, we didn't want to leave. Glad our son is attending grad school in the area so we can stay here again. See you soon Deb!
Impressive drive up the tree lined driveway, beautiful mansion, pool , and then the very private Grove. When I walked in and saw the 72 inch TV on the wall I was pumped! Very well appointed with all the newest comforts of a luxurious home. At one point this was an business office and has been converted into a comfortable living space. It was very nice to have breakfast foods, fruit, coffee, and wine all complimentary. I would definitely stay again if I was coming back to the area.
Quick backstory; I was throwing a surprise party for my boyfriend that included bringing all his friends from PA (we live in DC) to Frederick for the weekend and going on a chartered brewery tour. We decided to go with Deb's house because of the 4 bedrooms and the great reviews. I am so happy to add another review to this list. First; the house is incredible. We all thought that at one point it used to be an home office because of the layout, but you'd never know. There is a lot of beautiful pieces (Crystal, China, a cabinet full of breakables, etc) but we moved those to the office just in case (I also went for the $59 property damage as a back up - I said there would be brewery tours, and I wasn't taking chances) Second; My friend arrived first before I did and went nuts about how Deb had set everything up. She laid out snacks and wine, fresh fruit and a (delicious) danish. It was way above what we expected. Third; Everyone complimented how comfortable the beds were and Deb did not cut corners on those. So thank you for that! Fourth: I am always nervous about renting houses from the owners because I am worried about them being helicopter-moms and checking in on us, or showing up unexpected. Never once did Deb stop by, but anytime I reached out to her she responded within minutes. She was the most welcoming and kind host I've ever stayed with. The house that we rented looks like their guest house and sits right behind their home. It's close, but we never felt watched over. Deb thinks of everything. A never ending amount of towels, soaps, shampoo, the ironing board with starch spray (seriously, right?) washer and dryer tabs, all the kitchen utensils, paper towels, toilet paper, but it's in the office, so you have to hunt for it, but you are literally walking in without having to stop at a grocery store. It was wonderful. I can't say enough great things about Deb and her house. We had an incredible weekend and I was so lucky to find this rental. Thank you again for everything.
This was my second stay at the Grove House and it was just as perfect this time around. I will be recommending it to all my friends. Beautifully appointed, an easy to get to location, a charming town a few miles away, and a gracious host all make for an ideal visit.
Absolutely top notch location. Really appreciate the personal touches.
We are delighted to be able to rate the Grove Guest House, an exceptionally lovely property. We stayed there for a girlfriend’s weekend and everything was just as pictured or better. We were provided the finest amenities. Everything we could possibly have needed was there for us with many luxurious extras that were unexpected treats. It was such a bonus to be welcomed with wine, cheese, fruit, breakfast items and unlimited coffee. The beds were wonderfully comfortable, the towels were sumptuous and it's clear that the attention to detail and a designer's eye are meant to make guests feel at home. Nothing was left out. It was quiet and private and a much needed respite from our busy schedule. We were delighted to meet Deb on our final night and upon meeting her were so impressed with her genuine affection for this property and her guests. She was in contact before and during our stay just to make sure we had everything we needed. If you need accommodations in the Frederick area or D.C. (we found it relatively easy to get to the Shady Grove Metro Station), don’t hesitate to rent this remarkable house. It truly is amazing in every way!
