We are Premier Hosts and very experienced in owning and managing a vacation rental and have a proven track record in providing our renters with a wonderful vacation experience. See our other VRBO property in Florida - #339008. We go the extra mile to ensure people that rent from us have no surprises and leave with great memories. We have lived in the Upper Peninsula off and on for close to 30 years and are excited to share the best of what makes this area an amazing four seasons vacation destination.
ABOUT THE AREA: Au Train is located in Alger County, one of the most scenic areas in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This increasingly popular vacation destination has adventure awaiting in many directions. In nearby Munising visit the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, beautiful waterfalls, Grand Island National Recreation Area, and the Hiawatha National Forest. The hiking, biking, snowshoeing and snowmobiling opportunities are endless. Au Train Lake and Lake Superior have beautiful sandy beaches. Au Train Lake is famous for great fishing and great waterskiing. The Au Train River is one of the safest and most scenic and enjoyable streams in the state for canoes and kayaks. This is the perfect place to get away from it all. Fall Fishing is great in both the many inland lakes of the area and in Lake Superior. Deer and Bear as well as Ruffed Grouse and Woodcock hunting are excellent. In the winter, enjoy miles of groomed snowmobile trails, ice fishing on Au Train Lake and Lake Superior, or perhaps enjoy snowshoeing or cross country skiing through vast wooded areas. In the spring, Woodlands are carpeted with wildflowers and mushrooms peak through the ground. Trout fishing is excellent in the river and numerous streams as well as Lake Superior.
TYPES OF RENTERS WE CATER TO: We love renting to families or groups of friends who love nature and who enjoy experiencing the best of what the outdoors has to offer. We don't rent to groups under 25 years of age. We respect our wonderful neighbors and their right to enjoy their own privacy and expect our renters to comply with Au Train's noise ordinances posted in the cottage (quiet hours 11pm to 7am). If you are looking for a place to hold loud parties, this is not your place. But if you are looking for an amazing cottage with tons of charm to have a fantastic and memorable vacation, look no further!
Great location for exploring the Marquette area. The cabin is spacious and comfortable. The kids loved the loft area. The spot by the river is beautiful. We liked it so much that we are hoping to come up this winter to explore some of the cross country ski trails in the area.
Cabin was spotless, welcoming, great floor plan, well stocked with essentials, easy access to Au Train River, and so close to Lake Superior! All beds met our standards (we can be picky about beds). Clean, comfortable & nice linens. Fans & extra blankets for when the weather fluctuates. We enjoyed our family games at the “game table” and our fires at the fire pit! An overall great UP experience!
Excellent communicators. The home is beautiful. Everything was great.
Very nice close to trails
We were there to enjoy the winter sites and snowmobile. Great location, close to Picture Rocks and the snowmobile trail just a mile or so away. Mike and Colleen are great hosts. Respond quickly to any questions.
Nice place
We had a relaxing and enjoyable week. The Riverfront Cottage is beautiful and was fully equipped for our stay. Located on the gentle flowing Au Train River, allowed for kayak trips up and down stream. Close enough to easily visit Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and Hiawatha National Forest along with Munising and Marquette but set off the main roads for a quiet stay. We will return on our next stay to the north central UP area.
This was a great experience renting with Mike and Colleen, their home is clean, cozy, serene, quiet and full of many beautiful and fun places to explore in the area. I'm sure you will enjoy!
We had two families of three stay and had plenty of room! The kitchen is full of anything you may need, including a Keurig and a regular coffee maker. It was great to be able to sit and look at the water every morning (but don't go in....lots of leeches!) It was close to everything we wanted to do while there. Thanks for the great stay!
We loved our stay. Highly recommended.
