Home was very shabby and sorely needed to be painted. Grass was not cut. Smelled musty. Window in large bedroom was missing a shade allowing the street light to shine in. I just had the entire interior of my home painted...walls, high ceilings, trim, doors. My home is larger than this rental and only cost me $3000 (6 rooms). The painter did an excellent job. I very much doubt I will go through Verbo again.
Had a great stay
We stayed at Norris Cottage in august 2022. It is an old Maine house that hasn’t aged well. The good - 2 people can stay well. The air conditioning worked well on the ground floor and was adequate though noisy in the main bedroom where it is a window unit. The Wi-Fi was fine. It had a dishwasher, washer, dryer though noisy also worked well. It is close to town and in a safe location. The bad- the furniture is all in bad condition including the bumpy, noisy mattress. You can’t comfortably stay in the 2nd room unless it is cool with low humidity outside. This room and the bathroom are extremely musty and stale smelling. The floor in the kitchen is deteriorating and ripping apart. There was a pile of deep dust under both beds. In our opinion, the pictures were nowhere near the reality. Think hunting cabin
Norris cottage was perfect for our needs. Comfortable bed and living room and the porch was great for morning coffee and evening drinks with a nice view of the wooded park across the street. Angel, from Vacasa, was very nice and helpful! Would stay here again.
The house was very cute and in an amazing location, walkable to town and close to everything Acadia can offer. It was also super clean and pet friendly. We will be back!
Good place to stay, 10 minute walk from downtown Bar Harbor and a minutes drive/ walk to Acadia. Good for a family but note that the staircase is very steep if you have young children. Comfortable accommodations, however mattress in master bedroom needs to be replaced.
Really cute place in a fantastic location close to town! We could and did walk every time we went into town, whether it was to get ice cream, get dinner and drinks, or do some shopping. One surprise we had was in the room with the two twin beds - it was small and set up so that the door couldn`t be opened or closed without moving one of the beds, which would obviously disturb whoever was sleeping there. In addition, they had some amenities for cleaning (e.g., dish and laundry detergent) but were missing some other amenities that would have been nice to have, like extra toilet paper and more cooking basics (they only provided salt and pepper). But overall we still really enjoyed our stay! The owners were very responsive and reasonable!
This was our second time staying at the house and we plan to come back in the future. The location is great and the overall experience couldn`t be better.
I have been to Bar Harbor many times but this was my first stay at 12 Norris Ave. It was a great place to stay! Walking distance to downtown but away from the hustle and bustle. The cottage was very clean and welcoming, with a nice backyard to sit out in. It felt like home for the week.
The cottage was perfect for my family (2 adults and a 7-year-old). We loved being just enough on the edge of town that it wasn`t crowded, but still near enough that we could walk everywhere.
