Stayed Nov 6, 2025Very welcoming, easy check in and out procesa. Very quaint place that's got a vibe better than most places I've stayed at. I'd stay there again without hesitation.

Stayed Aug 28, 2025We loved this property and would stay here again! It was just as described. It's in a quiet residential area and is a perfect getaway spot with good privacy. It has lots of windows (especially the large ones in the bedroom), that look out on the lush rainforest. We loved hearing the frogs at night! The bed was extremely comfortable. The towels were fluffy, and shampoo & body wash smelled heavenly, and the kitchen was well stocked, although we did limited cooking. (Don't forgot to check out the tiki glass collection on the top shelf.) Mark was great about communicating about directions, what's available in town, etc. We had a slight problem with water temperature/pressure, but Mark ultimately got that resolved. The cottage was a little further outside of Volcano & the Natl Park than we expected (about 5 miles), and we would recommend arriving when there's still some light, because the cottage is set back a little, and it's easy to miss the driveway. But once we found it, it wasn't an issue.

Stayed Aug 17, 2025This little cabin is a hidden gem! It’s very close to Volcanoes National Park, enabling us to take a break from the midday heat and return after dinner. The cabin is nicely decorated, comfortable, and very private. The owners have put a lot of care into ensuring a cozy, memorable stay. We 100% recommend this unique retreat!

Stayed Jul 7, 2025We had a wonderful time staying at Mark's place and visiting the NP. Mark is a great host and was invaluable in alerting us to the latest eruptions. Thanks to him, we were able to witness the eruption on July 9th, which was an amazing 1,200 foot tall fountain of lava. You can really tell that Mark put some thought into the cottage and its amenities. We had everything we needed for our visit. Highly recommended!

Stayed May 15, 2025We absolutely loved our stay! The place felt super private with all the lush greenery—like our own little hideaway. The house was stocked with everything we could need, from coffee, creamer, and tea to cooking essentials, which made it feel extra welcoming. The bed heaters on each side were such a great touch—my wife runs cold and I run hot, so we both slept perfectly. The headlamps provided were awesome for exploring, and the location couldn’t have been better. It was just a quick 10-minute drive to Volcano House, which made it easy to take advantage of the lava activity. We actually woke our daughter up around midnight to see the lava gurgling, went back to bed, and then caught the real show in the morning when the lava really started flowing. We even managed to get parking in the morning—total win!The bed was super comfy, the hot shower had amazing pressure, and the towel warmer was such a nice bonus. We honestly loved everything about this place and would definitely stay again.Definitely grab a bite at Tuk Tuk Thai nearby—so good!

Stayed Jan 31, 2025The owners did a wonderful job of communicating with us. Check in instructions and directions to the house were very clear and accurate. The house was warm and welcoming. It was also very clean, well stocked and charming. There were very thoughtful welcoming touches. We were so comfortable and impressed. We would definitely stay there again. The owners have put a lot of thought into wha twill make their guests feel the most welcome and comfortable. There has been a lot of consideration put into thinking about what a guest might possibly need while staying with them.

Stayed Oct 6, 2024A beautiful small cottage surrounded by lush tropical foliage, just a few miles from the gate of Volcanoes Nat’l Park. Great communication from the host, who encouraged us to call about anything we might need. But the property was so well stocked that there was nothing we lacked. We had a great stay.

Stayed Jul 18, 2024A very small property that won’t work for everyone but was fine for the three adults in our family. All was as advertised, including cleanliness and clear warning about apparently inevitable power outages in the Hawaiian rain forest, for which backup lighting sources are provided and recovery procedures are clearly documented. A picture of the building from the driveway will stop viewers wondering why only the front door is provided as an outside view.
