The Pier Houses are ideally located only a stone’s throw from the edge of Fearnach Bay and with a fantastic view south east across Loch Melfort and Melfort Pier. Built of locally quarried stone, these two cottages are semi-detached with their own large shared gardens and gravelled seating area (with outdoor seating). There is plenty of car parking on the opposite side of the road.

Both cottages are mirror images of each other but are otherwise identical with a large kitchen and dining room (with oven, hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher & washing machine) with views over the gardens and door to rear garden. From the kitchen is a short corridor to a downstairs shower room (with shower, w.c. & basin) and drying area. The spacious sitting room at the front of the building (equipped with a double sofa bed for occasional guests, CTV, DVD) has an open fire and fantastic views of Loch Melfort, with a staircase leading upstairs.

Leading from the first floor landing are three bedrooms and a bathroom (with bath, over-bath shower, w.c. & basin). The spacious Double bedroom (with CTV) and Twin bedroom both enjoy elevated views over Loch Melfort. The 4-bed bunk room is at the rear of the building with views to the craggy peaks of Creag an Sturra.

Although I filled in a questionnaire and handed it in at Melfort Village reception when I left I have completed this one as well because I really enjoyed my week there. The weather was lovely and the views to die for. My friends and I had a day on Luing with lunch at the Atlantic Islands Centre which was excellent. Disappointing that the Shower of Herring was closed from Monday. My only complaint was that when I arrived on Saturday Sept.14th in torrential rain and gales there was no heating on in Powerhouse 2.

Been an owner and visitor to Melfort for many years, but have always looked longingly at these beautiful cottages simply for their isolation and the superb views they have over the huge sea loch of Melfort. We were also very lucky that we had a mostly dry week and the sun shone for us (albeit rather chilly). The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed with 2 new beautiful bathrooms ( one on each level, perfect) A fantastic farmhouse kitchen And 3 big bedrooms. ( the third of which had two full size set of bunk beds) A huge back and side garden was ideal for dogs and young children. Such a shame we didn’t venture out too much via the car into the beautiful area surrounding the village But We wrapped up nice and snug every day and walked along the beach with my faithful border collie Gleann. The restaurant on site The Shower of Herring has a great welcoming atmosphere, serving lovely well presented food. It also hosted its usual informal music night . Would love to stay here again anytime.

What an excellent location and great facilities for the grandchildren especially if the weather wasn’t so good

Another fantastic week at Melfort. Enjoyed kayaking on the loch, fishing and crabbing. Super time in swimming pool and great trips out and about. Hope to return next year

The views from the cottage were beautiful, just like the whole area. The facilities at Melfort we’re excellent. Ate at the Shower of Herring twice, extensive menu and Kat was absolutely lovely - food was great. The music night was excellent. Enough to do in the area for a week. Parts of the house could do with a lick of paint but otherwise everything we needed was provided, comfortable beds, lovely towels, freeview TV etc. Wifi was fast enough to stream so bring your Apple TV box etc. £25 odd quid for electricity for a week in August should just be incorporated into the overall price, just found it irksome. Overall had a lovely relaxing break in an idyllic location with great local facilities in a comfortable cottage.

This is our third stay at the village. We stayed the New Year week and despite the weather had a great time. Great facilities for the kids, lovely walks and an outstanding view. We will be back. Only downside was that the Shower of Herring restaurant wasn't open.

We would like to come again! it is a very silent and calm place in a very fine area of Scotland. The landscape is fascinating.

Very nice property in perfect location with absolutely stunning views. The property was clean and comfortable and very well equipped. Loved the fact that dogs are welcome. Reception staff very helpful and informative. Would definitely recommend and looking forward to booking again.

Pier 2 was in an amazing location right on the loch. Wonderful to wake up to! We bought our paddle board, so it was an effortless 10 second trip from front door to water. Kids loved searching for crabs, mussels and other shellfish delights in the shoreline. We made use of the indoor pool, putting green and occasionally the games room, when the weather was bad; but spent most of the time exploring this very scenic area. Would love to return, but during spring or autumn - just feel we'd like to see the sun shine more on our summer holiday! Still we made good use of the open fire.
