Pine Knot is the perfect retreat, where you can take advantage of all that the Grand Traverse Area offers or just recline by the shore.
Lake Skegemog is excellent for boating and fishing with direct access into Elk Lake and up Torch River to Torch Lake. It is on the Elk - Skegemog - Torch - Clam - Belaire Chain of Lakes - the largest Michigan inland waterway covering over 60 square miles.
At Pine Knot, you'll have a private beach, dock (we live next door and share the dock), and boat hoist that will accommodate a 3600#, 8ft. wide boat. Bringing a boat is made easier with the circular driveway, spacious yard, and DNR ramp just down the road. Skegemog is well known for Small Mouth Bass, Northern Pike, and Muskie. The colder waters of Elk and Torch Lakes hold Atlantic Salmon, Lake Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Whitefish.
Pine knot is a comfortable cottage, conveniently located, and on a truly spectacular lake. Many people have made special memories here, and you can as well.

My husband, our two young boys and I loved our stay. We went on Labor Day weekend, but were able to enjoy the peace and quiet of this lake, while still having easy access to the fun and exciting Torch and Elk lakes. The hosts were wonderful and helpful. They were available when needed but also gave us our space. The boys spent hours fishing off the dock and swimming in the clean lake (rocky near the shore, but sandy further out). We don't have a boat, but the hosts recommended many places for a daily rental. Easy access to the boat launch or to rental places through the chain of lakes. We loved playing in the large yard and s'mores by the campfire at night. Our family also enjoyed the quick access to Belaire and Traverse City for pizza night and brewery visits. There were some bugs in the house, but that is expected at a northern Michigan lakeside retreat. Overall, I would recommend this property to all of my family and friends!
We stayed a week at the Skegamog cottage. Very clean and comfortable. Had a great time.
We had a great time on the lake and enjoyed the surrounding activities. Owners are wonderful people. Would stay again.
Another wonderful stay at this lovely cottage on beautiful Lake Skegamog ! Cottage is CLEAN. Owners are the nicest hosts you’ll find ! The boat hoist is an excellent option if you have a boat ! Had a wonderful time. So wonderful we’ll be back again in July !!!
Our family had an amazing time at this cabin on the lake. We used the boat ramp down the street and the driveway accommodated the truck and trailer. The cabin is so clean and has everything you need. The water behind the cabin is clear and you can see all kinds of wildlife. Loved watching the Eagle fish in the mornings. My son forgot something and the host mail him a package. Such a wonderful stay.
Great access to the chain of lakes and we loved meeting Jan and Karyl
Jan & Karyl are top notch property owners! We enjoyed our stay at Pine Knot and will likely stay again! Location, amenities and overall welcoming atmosphere are 100%!! Thank you for sharing your wonderful property!
The cottage is a very cozy, comfortable and clean cottage with all the essentials. The boat lift was a great amenity to the property as it allowed our boat to be steady just out of the water and made it much easier for my parents to be able to get on and off the boat during our stay. Karyl and Jan are very nice people and helpful with any questions we had and even helpful with returning stuff we forgot at at the collage.
Beautiful
Owners are very accommodating in answering any questions we had.
