45 Mary Ann Drive:
At "Little House by the Ferry" you can relax in hammocks and hear the ferry boats tooting their horns coming and going out of the harbor. Located near Silver Lake Harbor where all the restaurants and shops are located, you will find it easy to stroll or bike from this convenient location.
This charming 3 Bedroom (plus bonus bunk room) 1 Bath cottage has undergone a complete renovation and addition during the Spring of 2009. You will love the professionally decorated cottage decor. There are 2 hammocks for relaxing, a fenced-in dog yard, dishwasher and washer and dryer. While there is only one full bath, there is an exceptional outdoor shower with a star-filled sky above. You will never want to shower indoors again.
The large screened-in porch has vaulted ceilings and big views of open space which makes for a very private setting.
Bonus Items: We have bikes, sand chairs, beach umbrellas and boogie boards you are welcome to use. These items are not a part of the lease because we cannot guarantee they will all be in good working order at the time of your stay. It seems like there is always a bike or two out of commission at any given time.
Most of Ocracoke Island is owned by the National Park Service and there are no cottages located at the beach front. Little House by the Ferry is located in the village about a mile and a half from the beach. If you have a four wheel drive you can drive out on the beach. You can also drive or ride bikes to the life guarded beach and walk over the dunes to the beach.
Our cottage is now on city water which provides great water pressure and makes the our shower absolute heaven!

We really enjoyed our stay at the adorable little cottage on Ocracoke Island. The couches and beds were so comfortable! We loved your beach themed rooms. Each morning we had our coffee on the screened in porch-trips to the beach-lunch at Eduardo's-shopping in town-app crawl at night at each of the wonderful restaurants throughout the island. Thank you for providing the perfect environment for our memorable vacation.
We love the location of this cottage. So convenient but also private. The sunporch was our favorite. The fenced backyard was perfect for our dog. Having the bikes on hand was great - we biked all over the island. Only used the car to go to the beach. Owner very responsive. Highly recommend.
Great location on the island that is so close to everything you can just walk. The bed in the master we slept on was very comfortable. We used one of the bikes at the house and also the beach chairs & umbrella. Very nice to have those things available. Plenty of space in the house and all of the basics you need.
Everything was very much as expected and described. Location is super handy and within walking distance of the village. The bikes were satisfactory and took us where we wanted to go. The kitchen was fully stocked with what we needed to cook with. Beds were super comfortable. We enjoyed the porches daily as we lucked out and had a warm April week.
Quaint and cozy feeling. Great location offering privacy and convenience to town. Interior fantastic. Exterior just needs some minor maintenance. Other than that a great place to stay. This may become a yearly location.
The owner of the property was great too deal with - John
Great house with all the amenities of home. Lots of space for everyone, close to everything and the bikes were a great addition. Truly enjoyed our stay, would love to return!
We appreciated that out of every window and door in the living/dining room was a beautiful natural view. The trees provided more privacy than one would expect on Ocracoke. Comfortable furnishings, comfortable beds. We enjoyed our visit and recommend the little house by the ferry.
I just returned from a three-night stay at thr Little House by the Ferry, which is as charming as it’s name! Driving in, we found its location (near the water plant) a bit surprising. But once we settled in, the experience was all peace and comfort. My friend and I appreciated the lush couches in the living room, the cute and well-equipped kitchen, the large screened in porch with a view of trees and sky, super-comfortable beds…I could go on and on. The bonus was a shed full of bicycles! I’ve rented several houses in Ocracoke but never one that had bikes, as well as beach chairs that we were allowed to take out to the spectacular National Seashore. The weather was unusually warm for February, with sunny skies and temperatures in the 60s. We could not have asked for more, and are very thankful to Marsh for his hospitality. (He was not on site, but was very accessible by text to answer questions.) Very few restaurants were open, but the ones that were were more than satisfactory. It was great being in the village during a season that was not run over with tourists.
The home is clean and cute, especially the screened porch. I am really glad that it did not face other homes, as I was able to meditate and do yoga in the space. I think the only thing that made it feel a little odd was having family pictures throughout the home, especially in the main bedroom. I've stayed at a lot of different places and this is the first time I felt like I was actually staying in someone's personal home, which changed the atmosphere of the stay. Other than that, we appreciated the home and really enjoyed staying there.
