Maple City, Michigan
Dunn's Farm, a Centennial Farm owned by the same family for almost 150 years, is located on beautiful Big Glen Lake, rated by National Geographic as one of the 3 most beautiful lakes in the world! With 1,000 front feet of sandy shoreline, swimming and water sports are inviting for every member of the family. Although the property is no longer farmed, the open spaces created provide for never ending outdoor activities. Our rental months are late May, June, July, August and the first two weeks in September. We rent weekly from Saturday to Saturday.
The Leelanau Peninsula is known for its cherry orchards and vineyards, and the welcoming villages of Glen Arbor, Suttons Bay, Leeland and Northport cater to summer tourists whether shopping, dining or just meandering through these picturesque towns.
The Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore and sand dunes which are only 5 miles away provide miles of hiking and climbing, as well as stretches of Lake Michigan shoreline. Or you may never find the need to leave Dunn's Farm, as the sunrises offer the promise of another memorable day on the water, steaks or whitefish roasted on the grill and an almost never ending sunset as you watch the embers of your beach fire slowly die.
The cottage is located right on the lake shore with no obstruction of the beautiful sunsets to the west. Beyond the far shore is the famous Sleeping Bear Dunes. The water is clear, the lake bottom is sandy and the depth is shallow out to about 150 feet, or so. The cottage is located near the historic Glen Haven and the attractive village of Glen Arbor. Beyond them, just a short way is the famous and popular Dunes with many opportunities for their enjoyment. Kyakers were enjoying the lake, nearby stream and Lake Michigan. There were many trails for biking and hiking. The town of Empire is not far away, while the bustling Traverse City is only 16 miles to the east. The owner was very friendly, helpful and provided for our every need. We are going back in 2023.
My husband and I loved our stay at the New Cottage. It had everything we needed. The sunsets were absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed our nightly bonfires. Just a short drive from the Bear Dunes, Glen Arbor, Traverse City and lots of wineries! The hosts were wonderful, and the property was beautiful and well maintained.
Lovely, updated cottage with an unobstructed view of the aquamarine waters of Big Glen Lake and gorgeous sunsets every night viewed from the wrap around deck. Heavenly!! The owners are wonderful and the cottage is thoughtfully stocked to allow for an absolutely enjoyable week up north. The cottage sleeps 4 and the beds were very comfortable. We were able to have our 2 adult children join us for a couple days and a night and when they left, our parents joined us for a night. Having coffee on the deck in the mornings looking over Big Glen Lake - a lovely way to start day! We were blessed with perfect weather our entire week for a perfect getaway. Glen Arbor, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Lake Michigan, Crystal River, Little Glen Lake all close by and Big Glen Lake at your doorstep. Who could ask for anything more?
We had a great time! So glad our Florida beach vacation fell through at the last minute. Hiking, Dune climbing, kayaking, visiting all the small towns, food, sunsets and fires at night. ??
Small, but no surprise based on the online property description. Could use a through cleaning especially around the baseboards and bathroom.
We stayed in a charming, comfortable cabin just feet from the water. It was the perfect size for 3 adults. The beds were good. The property was very pretty and quiet at night. The water had a sandy bottom and no rocks. It was good for swimming. paddle boarding and kayaking. There was an excellent tennis court that we also enjoyed. There was easy access to Glen Arbor, Sleeping Bear Dunes and the bike trails. The host was welcoming and helpful. The kitchen was perfect for cooking. We also made good use of the laundry. We would stay here again!
We stayed here for a week and it was perfect. The cottage was nice and clean with a beautiful view. It was nice having a washer and dryer too. Having a deck and a fire pit by the lake was icing on the cake. We would definitely stay here again!
We really enjoyed our stay at “new cottage” on big glen lake. We used our paddle board and kayak right off the shore. We enjoyed a nice fire almost every night. The cottage was small, but had everything we needed and was very clean. We were less than 10 minutes from the town of glen arbor and all the cute restaurants and shops. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back.
Great accommodations at a perfect location on the lake. Highly recommended.
The owners are super nice and the property is beautiful. The New Cottage was just right for our family of 4. Very clean and cozy. The only negative was the shower leaked and was quite small, but nothing major. The lake views were great!
