Stayed Jun 7, 2023James was the consummate host. While the unit could be called country cottage simple, the welcome was all one might expect in the form of warm Irish hospitality. Situated on the outskirts of Mountshannon, you do need transport, but with car in hand you will be able to visit the highlights of the region. just bare in mind local 'R' roads can be narrow with high hedges, and meeting commercial traffic might test your nerves. However, think cautiously, drive slowly and all will be well. The nearby Lough is very picturesque, and you can walk to a small port where the view is across to Holy Island. We had one mishap, while enjoying the the best of Irish hospitality, but we all caught Covid.... However, James and the neighbors could not have been kinder, supplying us with books, games and veggies from their garden to sustain and aid our recovery. Thank you. Rod Sandra & Miss Flora

Stayed Aug 27, 2022Our stay in James's cottage was pure bliss. Its located in the most idyllic spot with a 4 minute walk to the lake and a view to the mountains. The cottage itself was lovely and private but James and Anne were always on hand with a friendly hello or to answer a question. Myself and my family had a wonderful week there and would go back in a heartbeat. Thank you for everything.

Stayed Jul 17, 2021We had a great stay in the cottage and would definitely go back. The cottage itself is cosy and has everything you need to just relax. The bed was really comfortable, the shower had good pressure and the kitchen had everything you need. One word of warning though, when the grill is on the buttons for the hob get really hot but that's just knit picking. James himself is a complete gentleman and was very helpful and attentive without being in your face all the time. All in all we had a lovely week in the cottage and were very sad leaving. I would definitely recommend it as the perfect base for sightseeing in the beautiful Clare countryside. Thank you James and I hope to see you again

Stayed Dec 31, 1969My wife and I visited this cottage near Mountshannon for 3 days in June of 2012. It was a great base to visit County Clare and the West Coast. On one of the days it rained and rained, but we enjoyed a relaxing day in the cottage. The owner is a great guy, very warm and friendly. He even helped me with the rental car when one of the tires blew out. I would highly recommend staying here.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969My husband, infant son, and I just recently stayed at this lovely Mountshannon cottage for a week whilst touring Ireland. The accomodations were lovely, as were the helpfulness and hospitality. The peat fire burned upon our arrival, and the place was clean and stocked with coffee, tea, and delicious homemade apple tart. True Irish kindness at its best, for certain. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone who seeks comfort and tradition at the right price.
