Lovely 3 bedroom holiday home (sleeps 6) in a remote valley of a mountainous area, surrounded by cultivated farmland and Mediterranean forest. All modern conveniences and décor is warm and cheerful.

Private fenced off pool.

Bedroom 1 and 2 with double beds (1,40x2.00). Third bedroom with twin beds (90x2.00). Two complete bathrooms, one en-suite with shower, the other with bath tub. Open plan kitchen, dining, living room. Modern and fully equipped.
Washing machine (placed in bathroom).

HD Television with all the Spanish channels up to date (some can be set to bilingual audio) and access to Netflix and YouTube.
Shelves full of books and guides (in Spanish, Dutch, English and French). Original prints, photos and paintings on the walls give the place a personal touch.

The Spanish/Dutch owners also live in the valley and are as self-sufficient as possible, with an organic vegetable garden, their own water well, and solar panels (with back-up of the main grid). All their surrounding land and the (low-maintenance) gardens are landscaped and maintained naturally, without the use of pesticides, and taking into account the challenging mountain climate (hot, dry summers and cold winters, as well as a significant day-night temperature difference).

They offer their holiday home to nature lovers, families, bird spotters, hikers, peace seeking couples and anyone who looks for a relaxed place to spend their holidays.

Access to the house is through paved country roads (with exception some 200 meters in the middle). At the end however there is a sharp curve and steep descending slope, which is accessible to any type of car though.

Ronda, just 8 km away, is one of the most beautiful cities of Andalusia, steeped in history. It stands on a towering plateau in the mountains of the province of Malaga. The plateau is split in two by a 90 meters deep gap, 'El Tajo', and is the natural separation between the old and the new Ronda. This gap is spanned by a stone bridge, Puente Nuevo, and offers breath-taking views.

The shopping area of Ronda, where some of the traditional shops still maintain, is located in the new part of town.
However, the most enchanting walks can be found in the old town where the Moorish and Roman atmosphere can be inhaled in every street corner.

Nearby village of Arriate provides with banks, small supermarkets and other stores that you need on a daily basis. This charming village is also known for its cheap & cheerful tapas bars and also has a few high quality restaurants.

Ronda lies very central to all the cities that are worth visiting and can easily be travelled in one day, such as Cordoba (Mezquita), Granada (Alhambra-book well in advance!), Seville (Giralda and Reales Alcazares), Malaga (Picasso Museum) and Gibraltar and Marbella/Costa del Sol.

Lovely property, very clean and comfortable, good outside space and lovely pool. Owners very friendly. Can walk to village in just over 20 minutes, good location and less than 30 minutes drive to Ronda, which is well worth a visit.

We spent 10 wonderful days in March enjoying nature, the many birds, and especially the great hosts Lies and Francis who not only gave us lots of fresh vegetables from their garden but were also very, very helpful! From the house it is a beautiful walk to Arriate and only a short drive to Ronda. We also recommend a visit of the reservatauro and had great horse back rides with Sandra from caballos y vinos. The house provides a fully equipped kitchen and many games and books in different languages as well as a much loved small tent and little chairs for children. As a previous guest stated: the place is gem. We definitely want to come again.

It's worth driving a little out of the way to find this peaceful and spacious cottage. The home is clean, with comfy bed and a nice shower, perfect for abundant bird watching or reading on the patio by the pool.. Stay out for dusk to enjoy the bats! The owners live next door and were very gracious and hospitable, available if needed but not intrusive. Plus, we were intending to spend our time in Ronda but the town where this home is located, Arriate, was a gem discovery so we split our time between both. We lucked out and stumbled upon the annual Fiesta en el Aire---truly fabulous!!

Thanks to Lies' perfect description, we found the house very easy! It's a lovely place! It's quite clean, plenty of room... We've been welcomed very friendly with a big pack of potatoes and vegetables from the garden. Our Kids loved the pool! Every day they jumped in, after our tours to Ronda and many sightseeing all around. Whenever we come back to Andalusia, it's sure we stay here again!

My wife and I stayed here for two months with our boys, ages 4 and 6, in 2010. It was one of the most wonderful vacations of our lives. The cottage is wonderful and pool perfect for our boys. Lies and her husband were just great hosts. We walked to town every day, hiked the hills, and took the bus to Ronda once a week. The organic farm is a great thing for children to see. We fed the chickens with our table scraps. If you would like a quiet getaway in a gorgeous setting, with wonderful hosts, and a short ride to Ronda, this is the perfect place! We miss our time there and hope to go back some time.

We spent a week at this lovely house which was clean and well-equipped. The owners were very helpful buying in supplies for us as we arrived on a national holiday. We also enjoyed the organic vegetables they supplied. We all loved the swimming pool and terrace. Arriate was a lovely small town in walking distance and we had some great day trips to Setenial de Las Bodegas and Cueva de la Pileta. Would thoroughly recommend this for familes. A feast of good books and games were also supplied.
