Lake Michigan Cottage / Silver Lake Sand Dunes.
Freshly remodeled, The Tree Tops cottage is ready for the 2023 summer. Located among the tree tops overlooking Lake Michigan and the Little Point Sable Light House. This is a very private and peaceful location on the quiet side of the Silver Lake Sand Dunes, yet it’s only 2 miles from all the action in Silver Lake. The living room and huge deck offer seasonal views of Lake Michigan that are very relaxing. The sunsets are spectacular. The cottage is part of a private association and only 400 feet to the deeded/shared access beach for residents/guests only.
The cottage is centered in a beautiful hillside setting.
The cottage is 2 bedrooms and one bathroom. Bedroom 1 has a queen size bed. Bedroom 2 has a “full size” bunk bed. The living room has a sofa sleeper (queen size) with 2 comfortable sitting chairs. Nice size dining table with seating for 6.

Overall, a nice place to stay. Some well done refreshing has given the place a coastal feel...except the bathroom which feels a bit dingy and dark. Deck and outdoor space are nice, and the place is perched atop the hill, offering breezes and great afternoon sun through the trees. However, the advertised sunset views are non-existent, unless you take the short walk to the beach. That's an easy enough walk if you can manage the hill, but you certainly won't be enjoying an evening cocktail watching the sun dip below the lake Michigan horizon from the deck.
We had a great time staying at the cottage! The property owners were great to communicate with through the whole process. Gave us a great recommendation for a pizza place “Hart Pizza”! The location was great it was an easy walk to the beach and the lighthouse. A couple of not so great things were the oder in the bathroom and the ants. I will say they were ant stations around but they were having a hard time keeping up. Overall, we had a great time at the cottage.
This cabin is great for a small group to enjoy Lake Michigan and silver lake. Super close to most local attractions. Kitchen is small but can handle basic meals. Don't expect much in the way of pantry items. Porch is lovely and neighborhood is quiet and friendly. Suited our group of 2 adults and 3 kids under 8.
When you fifteen year old granddaughter asks you to take her to Lake Michigan, you find a way. Due to timing of the request, there weren't many suitable options near Silver Lake. This cozy cottage did not disappoint. Short walk to the beach and quick drive to ice cream, the arcade, and dune buggies. Would stay there again.
Cottage was very clean and in a nice quiet location just a short walk away from the beach. Beds were comfy and the bunk beds were large enough to accommodate adults. The cottage is small and cozy. The ventilation system worked well and the home stayed comfortable during the day, and cool at night with the windows open. We had a great stay! It is worth mentioning the driveway up to the house is a bit steep, and the main shower is tiny and may not be great for those on the taller side. There were some minor things that should be addressed but overall the property was very nice. I’d stay there again!
This was an affordable, clean and perfectly situated cottage for our family. The cottage is nestled on the top of a hill across the road from Lake Michigan and Little Sable Lighthouse. Everyone in town and in the neighborhood was welcoming and friendly. The cottage was comfortable. The two heaters were all that was needed to keep us comfortable when the temps dropped to low 40s at night (mid-June!). The mattresses were comfortable. The host provides pillows which wasn't stated in the listing. No linens either but we knew that. No issues with hot water even with 4 adults showering. Water tasted great too which isn't always the case. Stove and oven were tested and worked great. I messaged the host with a few items that would help the kitchen be more fully stocked and he was happy to have the feedback. Communication with the host was great and very quick. It may be helpful to have a print out of directions to private beach access. Note that there aren't any good grocery stores in town just more convenient stores so bring your own groceries. We enjoyed dune buggies, farm tours, fresh produce stands, museum visit in Muskegon and a cooking class in Whitehall. Lots to do even when the weather doesn't cooperate.
This property was wonderful! It was perfectly secluded, yet still close to all activities. The deck was spectacular with nice views of the lighthouse and Lake Michigan. The remodeled cottage was very clean and comfortable. We will definitely return to the area and this cottage will be our first choice!
Overall good experience
Nice summer cottage. Accommodations were as advertised. Bring your own linens (and towels/washcloths) is a bit cumbersome, particularly for those who had to fly. Check the weather as we could not find a furnace when it rained cats and dogs and we got wet and the temperature dropped. Pack accordingly. The area is great. Loved the beach. We were politely told exactly where our stretch of beach was if we wanted to sit and not meander along the shore. The townsfolk were great with lots of quaint shops. Although we didn’t get a chance to ride the dunes (rain) some had done it before and enjoyed it. Sledding down the dunes and into Silver Lake is a blast and the lake is great.
The house was very nice. Kind of surprised there wasn’t air conditioning but the ventilation fan kept it cool. No stopper for the sinks, so kind of hard to do dishes. “Smart” TV didn’t have Netflix. My kids were disappointed by that. Overall, very nice place to stay.
The house was perfect for friends who were in town for our wedding. One family of four fit in there perfectly, more would have been a squeeze. It was a little bit of a hassle to bring our own blankets, linens and towels, but not too bad.
We had a wonderful time! Cute and clean little cottage.
Great stay, as described
Perfect location for a lake michigan and silver lake sand dunes vacation.
This was my first experience renting a vacation house and would do it again
Great getaway. Exceeded expectations! Great location in relation to the Silver Lake Dunes and downtown, but secluded enough to enjoy the area. If back that direction, would try to reserve it again.
Very nice and quiet.
We rented this property last year and it did t disappoint. The property was updated and it was really fantastic. We enjoyed ourselves
