This was our first visit but we were thrilled with the entire experience. The cabin was spacious and clean. The owners were incredibly prompt and attentive when power went out due to a accident effecting a number of homes in the area. In short if you're looking for a great place to enjoy Onekama at a great price this is your place...unless it's the week we want it.
Very clean. The knotty pine was rustic and pretty. The first evening we had not figured out how to use the thermostat or the electric fireplace in the master bedroom so it was a little chilly, but the next morning the owners were there and winterized the cabin and showed us where the thermostat and remote control for the fireplace were, so problem solved! Bring some scented candles since it has that old cabin on the lake smell.
The cottage was great, as well as the location. Communication was easy and the owner was very accomodating. Would highly recommend!
Very smooth process. Great weekend wedding location. House was everything as promised. Owner was super helpful.
Our family enjoyed a relaxing and wonderful vacation in Onekema. We were minutes from walking to Lake Michigan and spent most of our time on the beach. It was heaven! Our cottage was perfect for our family including three adult children. Jane was very accommodating and quick to accommodate our needs and answer any questions. We will definitely be back!
Very comfortable 8 night stay with our two pocket beagles in this rustic cabin with many thoughtful touches and amenities. High quality, solid wood furniture and plenty of dishes for cooking, as well as a gas grill out back. A full container of coffee, 4 rolls of toilet paper, and six sets of towels were also provided (the guest info book said there were additional towels stored somewhere, but we didn't need them for just two people). The internet was fast and reliable. Don't forget to bring your own beach towels, chairs, and umbrella, as these are not provided. Yes, there is a musty smell in the cabin -- but all cottages of a certain age that get closed up in the winter have this exact same smell. It didn't bother me a bit, and you only smell it when you first enter the cabin. The hard water may also bother some, but again, all the cabins in this area have hard water. The only negative was that the bathroom felt too cramped and small for me and my husband, but that's par for the course for a summer cabin! A keyless entry door handle would also be a nice improvement. Overall, a fantastic rental -- I grew up on Portage Point, and this is the best location possible and the best value if you are traveling with dogs. I'm so grateful that the owner allows dogs, because there are few places in this area that are reasonably priced AND accept dogs.
View was the best. Location was perfect.
Great communication. Owner was accommodating. Comfortable and cozy
Nice open spacious cabin. Good view of the lake. Loved the tall counters! Good water pressure. Musty smell was a downside. All of our clothes needed to be washed a couple times to get the smell out when we returned home. A dehumidifier in the basement might help with the musty dampness. If it were my place I would rip out the stained carpet in the master bedroom and just have area rugs instead of carpet, especially being a dog friendly place. The vertical blinds in the living room had a couple panels broken (one kept falling off). We had a great time despite my complaints. I just wanted to give constructive criticism which is hopefully helpful to the host.
It had a beautiful view and close proximity to the resort ad home where the wedding was. It was a perfect spot for us fo our short trip! We would love to go back.
