The property is lovely. Secluded, quiet, very well maintained. Tom was on top of everything; the guest house was clean and fully stocked with anything that would be needed. We had a two-year-old with us, and he had a great time exploring the large green spaces. Highly recommend staying here.

Pet friendly. Location and the stay overall was phenomenal. Tom was amazing, he showed us around a bit. My significant other was mesmerized by the history. Will definitely be back and next time, we are making time to hear more about the history. Also got to see some turkeys roaming around in the morning.

My wife and I and our dog stay here several times each summer as it fits our needs pefectly -- peaceful and spacious grounds, comfortable accomodations, and good access to the dog friendly beaches in Cayucos. Tom is a great host.

The property is a wonderful retreat. The grounds are a nature lovers paradise. I enjoyed strolling thru the gardens, enjoyed sampling the fruit and berries. The quietude was just what I needed. Our host gave us a tour which included the history of the inn and the surrounding area. I highly recommend.

Enjoyed my stay at the guest house in the back of the Portola Inn property. The owner was very nice and the grounds and gardens were beautiful and peaceful. Not far from town or the freeway so convenient as a home base. Property is surrounded by large trees and is shady and perfect for strolls. Plan on returning soon.

Deer, the fruit and flowers in full bloom in June make this place spectacular. We plucked different kinds of apricots plums cherries fully ripe and enjoyed them for the next few days. Our stay was only two nites though.

Tom's guest house was a wonderful place to stay while we explored Atascadero, Paso Robles, Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo. We enjoyed the privacy, quiet and great condition of the comfortable one bedroom house. The kitchen is well-equipped and a washer and dryer are available. The rest of the property includes a beautiful event/wedding venue but all was quiet during our 4-night stay. Tom is a very considerate host and can provide ideas for local restaurants and other things to do.

The accommodation is very basic. The place is dated. There is no dishwasher. The shower is very tiny. But for the cost it’s decent. The main bed is very lumpy. The extra bed is better. The property is very pretty outdoors. And very green and the buildings are very rustic and interesting.

The guest house was exactly as described. Very clean and had everything we needed for a weekend stay. The property is very peaceful and surrounded by beautiful oak trees. We enjoyed having breakfast on the porch and watching the birds and squirrels. Tom is a wonderful host. We would love to come back and stay again.

The cottage was clean and had everything we needed. While not super fancy, it doesn’t have to be. It sits on a hilltop with beautiful views. Oak trees surround you as you sip coffee in the morning and watch the sunset on the porch in the evening. Cute little fountain in the front. We loved it!

Do not be satisfied with the stories that come before you. Unfold your own myth and fall ardently for this enchanting inn that poetically speaks to your heart and soul simply to remind you that magic still exists in this world. Once you have stayed, you will never look at the world in the same way, having been reminded that the whole universe is actually in love with you! The care and beauty of this place wraps you in comfort, peace and belonging. It's as if you fell down a rabbit hole in time and discovered fairytales do exist when you allow yourself to become the story. Abandon your phone and linger in the grass, eyes skyward in awe under 300 year oak trees. Walk through the coveted garden and taste the sweetest of apricots or blackberries (or whatever else is growing). Nestle on the porch in the evening and be caressed by the late afternoon ocean breeze. There's really no need to rest, it's truly a dream of dreams. I did not want to leave any review as I don't want the place to be found at all, but I owe Mr. O'Malley the truth and elegance of his efforts and work. He is simply the kindest of souls on top of this remarkable inn. Please don't book in September (I will be back for my birthday!!!).

We had a great stay at Portola Inn last weekend. Tom is an excellent host and he is very helpful and responsive. The location is so beautiful and serene with the views of the mountains and the garden. I was traveling with my dad and it was the perfect place to relax and recharge. Thanks Tom.
