Dorsey Cottage - On a quiet cove

Comfortable, lovely house in an amazing location!

Great location. BUT. House was not clean. Dust balls on ceiling over our heads. Dust under couch. Food bits in drawers. All drains very very slow. Two small towels, one thin washcloth, one small hand towel that was it. No lamps in living room.Every drawer and shelf filled with owner food and stuff. No place to put any of our things. Closet crammed with bedding and stuff. No room to hang clothes. (Had to use coat closet), also pretty full. On last day a ‘tenant’ arrived, had gone into the house, standing outside angrily when we pulled up, said they had rented the house. Very awkward, a bit scary. All in all the house was really pretty bad. But the location was really nice and we had great weather. It’s just about respect. Take some time and fix the plumbing. Move some of the piles of things that are everywhere. Make it more like a nice hotel. Give us a bunch of clean white towels!

This home is listed at 864 sq ft but felt much larger due to the open floor plan and huge windows and sliders. It had everything we needed for cooking, sleeping and relaxing. Great decor, too, with nice antiques and photos. Beautiful views and privacy were exactly as described. I wish that the cleaners took their time to look the home over--cobwebs in the bedroom, dirty windows to look at the ocean through, and the door and walls in the bathroom had runs of brown down them. We are early in the season, so obviously a spring cleaning wasn't done.Finally, the footer holding up the sliding doors is rotting out at both corners, and from the inside you can see that if work isn't done soon, they'll lose the door and both huge windows. there's a similar issue with the upstairs bedroom window--rot eating away the frame. Also, wasp/hornets are nesting under the eaves just above the outside deck... We loved the charm of the home, and the location, and would absolutely return--we're just hoping things are taken care of so that we can go back.

We enjoyed a cozy and serene Thanksgiving weekend at Dorsey cottage.

Location is fabulous and the house has potential to be charming but issues need to be dealt with: - strong mold/mildew odor in house - moldy and torn curtains in bedroom - windows that have screens need new screens so gnats don't take over - windows that don't have screens need screens so there is airflow in the house - sliding screen door needs new screen (current one is torn and therefore unusable) - provide satellite/cable TV as represented in the listing. Currently only subscription service by the renter is available and if you don't have a subscription service (we did not) then the TV is unusable for standard 'free' channels such as ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS. This needs to be resolved. - home could use refreshed or new linens as the current ones are threadbare. - home needs a thorough cleaning, shows signs of neglect right now.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful natural setting. Visitors included foxes, deer and a pair of blue herons. Beautiful view...very private and relaxing spot.

My husband and I stayed for a week and it was so nice! Beautiful views from just about every room. The place had everything we needed and was very comfortable. We would definitely return.

A charming cottage on a tidal cove. Quiet, cozy, and relaxing. A great place to stay and explore Deer Isle, and environs, or just hang out and enjoy the view.

Lovely location. House has everything you need though could use a plastic wash basin for dishes, grate for fireplace. and some attention to both bathtubs. These are minor. Would be eager to come back, as would my dogs who loved every minute.

This was our second time visiting this property. What a wonderful place to stay for a few days! Such a peaceful setting to just read and laze around..No need to venture out much, since lots closed this time of year. All the more reason to just enjoy the surroundings!
