Stayed Jul 4, 2025PROPERTY NOT AS DISCRIBED. NOT QUIET, NOT IN PAYSON, NOT A COTTAGE. This property is 30 min south of Payson and about 16 degrees hotter. So if you are coming from Phoenix to get out of the heat, it’s nowhere near the rim. . This is an old and dated double wide. Not the cottage as described. It was 91 degrees inside (102 outside) when we got there. It didn’t cool down for 6 hours. We had to leave and go into Payson instead of cooking the food we brought. It’s located In the town of Gisela, you pass a lot of junk yard/run down properties to get to this place. This is a low rent neighborhood with nosey neighbors. Nice big porch is in poor repair with older but functional furniture. Inside is about the same, Broken and worn down furniture inside with a sticky note that says don’t lean here. Bathroom shower and toilet was dirty. Shower faucet doesn’t work properly and the sink faucet is installed incorrectly. Old food in fridge that is left by the owner. Hand written sticky notes everywhere stating “please excuse” the fridge, porch, blinds, and more. Not quiet. At all. 6am awakening to a multitude of dogs barking and howling, the neighbor has 10 dogs in their fence. They bark a lot! Dogs barking and running loose on the road. Side by sides and quads up and down the road starting about 6am until dark. Someone grinding, hammering, etc, sounds like shop work. The neighbors have horses and pigs. And you have to take your trash with you.

Stayed Oct 4, 2025The cooler weather made this stay quite beautiful. The night sky away from the city.Pollution is a sight to see and the cabin is very cozy. The host was responsive and very kind. The mornings are filled with the sound of farmwork and the neighborhood dogs. Everyone waves as they pass each other and I really enjoy this place. Definitely will return.

Stayed Jun 26, 2025We feel like we were bamboozled. The reviews from 2024 questioned if this was a trailer and owner stated it was not, referring to it as a cottage. It is a double wide mobile home. We had neighbors stalking us immediately upon pulling in drive and continued entire time there. The mobile home was very clean but air was set on 90 on entry and it took 7 hours to get it to 72 so we literally died in the heat. The main bedroom bed is a queen and was way to small for two adults so we had to sleep seperately. Also, this bed ran downhill so it rolled you to fhe corner. It had seen netter days. The bathroom shower hot is cold and cold is hot and the handles are striped so my husband burned himself trying to get it regulated and warned me moving forward. The toilet had to be jiggled regularly to prevent water running. We also found it weird that the owner stored their food in fridge / freezer and you had to work your supplies around it. Town was 20- 25 mins away and about 16 miles to nearest restaurant and services. The add said de- stress but the road in front of house was constant side hy sides, traffic and 4 wheelers from early am till evening. The entire surroundings are trailers- many run down although a few around were nicer double wides. Nothing against farming and trailers but i do not feel owner was up front about the area you're staying in. We did not feel welcomed here and were sadly disappointed as it did not meet expectations.

Stayed Oct 9, 2024We enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and wide open space (no neighbors breathing down your neck). You can tell Jill takes pride in ownership. We loved spending mornings and evening on the large, open porch which had a propane fire pit/place. We went for walks through the 'neighborhood' in the mornings and evenings. Lots of dogs, some unleashed, which has nothing to do with Jill, but just a consideration for anyone afraid of dogs. Hiking was close by, which is why we stayed near Payson. Jill emailed me after I booked the property to ensure that I was aware that this was not in the city of Payson. That was nice. She stated it was about 10 miles from Payson. We did not know it was winding roads with switch backs and that 10 miles takes about 15-20 minutes to drive. It IS beautiful country, not complaining, but planning was a must so that we didn't have to take that drive multiple times. I did not know that the listing was a mobile home either. I just think that might be something to add to the listing instead of cottage. Overall, it was quiet as advertised, and you could certainly destress. Jill was quick to respond to any questions. Check-in and check-out were easy. If your vibe is to escape and and chill at the property for your vacation, this is a great spot.

Stayed Oct 13, 2024The property is not in Payson, it's 30 minutes from Payson false advertising. The neighbor works from home Welder, so a generator and banging all day long. Not peaceful at all

Stayed Aug 29, 2024The house is a very nice property in a very quite location. Even though Vrbo has it in Payson, the property owner reached out to make sure we knew it was 15 miles south of Payson. We highly recommend this property.

Stayed Aug 16, 2024This is the worst advertised property I’ve ever seen, the address says Payson but it isn’t in Payson. Wouldn’t recommend if wanting to stay in Payson, also won’t be using Vrbo anymore as they allow this kind of misdirection and false advertisement of location.

Stayed Aug 8, 2024Finding this place for me to DE-stress & get some much needed respite was a great mistake of sorts. I waited too long to find something really close to Christopher Creek as my husband attending Camp Brain close by. As it turns out, I was close enough. On top of that my experience with the host and stay at this cottage was one of the best I've had in a long time. Detailed directions to get to the property, full kitchen, comfortable bed, charming tiny community, watching the horses play from the couch, binge watching some Netflix, gorgeous morning on the patio, perfect writing table the kitchen table made, & I could go on. Sadly, I didn't make it down to the river but I'm pretty sure my husband & I will be back for some additional quiet time. If you want to relax but still desire to be relatively close (Payson/Pine is maybe 20/30 minutes one way & Roosevelt Lake is about 25 minutes the other way) & have all the home comforts & technology of being in a city- this is your place.

Stayed Jul 28, 2024The home was very clean and very well equipped. There was not one thing we needed that wasn't there. The property was lovely and we enjoyed the cooler weather. Only downside was website says it is half mile from Payson. It is more like 16 miles from downtown (5 miles of curvy road) which prevented trips to town in the dark. We did have a very relaxing week.

Stayed Jul 3, 2024We try to get away from our home over the 4th, due to excessive fireworks and a dog that does not like them. We thought we were headed to Payson, but as it turned out our get away was in Gisela. A small community 13 miles south of Payson. The home is welcoming and comfortable and has everything you need. Roosters crowing every morning when we stepped outside; bull frogs every evening. It was so peaceful I was ready to move. Fenced yard for our small dogs and seating available when outside. There was nothing you could ask for if you are looking for relaxing place from your hectic life.
