Croft Cottage is a lovely stone cottage located in the pretty village of Wrelton, just a few miles outside of Pickering. The village has a nice pub, the Buck Inn, but no other shops or services so a car is necessary to get around. The cottage is nicely furnished and very comfortable. The kitchen is small but well equipped and we cooked most of our meals at home. We loved the log burner, especially in the morning to take the chill out of the air. Croft Cottage is the perfect place for a couple. I know families have stayed at Croft Cottage but as the living, kitchen and eating area are all one room it seemed to us that any more than 2 (possibly 3) might really be crowding it. Our biggest issue was with the bathroom. There are no pictures of the bathroom on the Vrbo site so we were dismayed to find a bathtub but no shower. At our ages (72&75) climbing in and out of tubs is something we usually avoid. There was a handheld shower head but no curtain. Every time I tried to shower I ended up with water all over the floor so I ended up sitting or kneeling (ouch). My husband, who is over 6 ft. couldn’t stand without hitting his head. So for us the bathroom was marginal at best. Did we enjoy our stay? Yes. Would we recommend it? Only with the caveat that the bathroom could be a problem.
