The house itself was beautiful and large. The location wasn't too far from shopping and lovely sights, and we loved seeing the sheep and neighborhood cats daily. We had a few major issues in the first day but the owner came right away to fix everything. The issue was that there was very little effort put into making our stay special or comfortable. I was coming from America and staying for more than 2 weeks, so I expected some cozy decorations for Christmas or something welcoming and festive as I've received in other cottages. The owner let us know the place had been empty for awhile before we arrived so we thought there was time to check everything and clean thoroughly. But we found trash from previous residents, open food in the freezer, and dirty dishes in the cabinets and drawers. Also, when we arrived, the heat was off and took days to warm up enough to be livable. There was ample time to warm the place beforehand and make it a welcoming home for us to spend the holidays, but that level of care wasn't taken. We did get some sass from the owner for even bringing up issues, but he did fix them regardless, so that's grand. This beautiful house just lacked finesse and a personal touch, though it was nice and cozy once all the issues were fixed. But I would recommend it for families staying a week or less as it's still a lovely place.

Great house. Location for exploring the North Coast is perfect. Its even close enough to take a day trip to fabulous Donegal.

The house was charming and had ample room for our large family. So peaceful, with birdsong, sheep and cows heard in the distance.
