Perfect quiet getaway with family.
The Gem was a very nice cabin and would highly recommend
My book club wanted a peaceful place to read together for a few days and this location was perfect. The beds were comfortable, the cabin was clean, and the air conditioning worked very well. The WiFi wasn’t great (it would work one minute the cut out the next) but luckily we were able to use our hotspots. So the only warning I have is that if you absolutely need internet this may not be for you.
The Forest Gem is a super cute, and well-maintained cabin surrounded by natural forest. It is just minutes from the entrance to Beaver’s Bend State Park and Hochatown.
We could never get the TV to work, even after calling for help more than once. For us that was a deal breaker. There were no instructions for the TV. The property was smaller than we expected. There needs to be some type of window shade over the sink that could be closed during the evening and night. The property was very clean. There were plenty of linens, paper products and dishes. The property is pretty dated, the linoleum was curling up in the bathroom. The bed was a little to soft for our liking. The location is good, but it is not a place where we would return. Just as in my star rating, it was okay but not a repeater.
We stayed here for a quick weekend getaway, & it was great. My boys have deemed it their new home in the woods.
Our family stayed here over Easter weekend and really enjoyed our time. It is absolutely a tiny house, but perfect for our family of four (two young kids). The only thing I will say is you may want to bring a baby gate as stairs are steep and our 18-mo old was very interested in climbing...ha. Excellent location, great outdoor space (we even did our little Easter egg hunt here), and it was nice and clean. Warning... there was no shampoo/conditioner... be sure to pack that. We would definitely stay here again.
This cabin is so cute, comfortable and very well maintained. The loft area is perfect for kids, teens, and young adults. While the cabin is small, the way it is laid out provided plenty of room for our group of 5. The area is quiet and just a few minutes outside Beavers Bend state park, as well as, the conveniences of Hochatown.
We stayed at this small cottage. It is nicely decorated. It is in a very quiet area, yet not far from the main road. We plan to stay there again!
We came up for a short weekend, & this property was great. The boys have deemed it our new home in the woods.

Even though there were other cabins nearby, it still felt like we had privacy in a serene, wooded setting with the conveniences of local restaurants and interesting attractions not far away...the most well known, of course, was the state park just up the road. We enjoyed gourmet pizza, tasty seafood and scrumptious corn dogs. The house itself felt like it was freshly painted with the extra touches of crown molding that made it feel cozy but almost rustic chic. The beds were very comfy and and space for all. Thank you for a terrific getaway!
We enjoyed our stay
We enjoyed our stay! It was so nice, clean and quiet! We hope to stay there again! Thank you so much!
This place has a good location close to the fishing dam and Beavers Bend park. It also has a great price compared to other cabins in town. Everything was very clean and beds very comfortable. You are pretty close to two other properties but they have created a great outdoor space. Everything we needed was included for cooking. I would recommend and go back. We had 6 people staying and it was full but not impossible. Great for a weekend. The parking is long and skinny on one side of the house. It was plenty of room for our two vehicles and trailers. No good places to ride ATV from the house but close. You will want drivers that are good at backing up to get into the smaller space.
Was what I expected for the price. Good location for lake trip.
We had a great time at the cabin and in Hochatown. Went kayaking and hiking during the day and sat out by the fire pit making s’mores. Thank you for sharing your cute cabin!!
I booked this rental as a surprise Friday - Sunday pre-Father's Day get-a-way for my husband and 4 of our grandchildren, ages 1, 5, 6, and 12. They were so VERY surprised at our out-of-state road-trip and was even more surprised at the location (in the woods). My husband could only sigh (in disappointment) and roll his eyes.....until I unlocked and opened the front door! IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!!!! The online pictures look JUST LIKE the real thing. The kids were instantly all smiles about the loft and my husband repeated, Baby, this is so, so nice! throughout our entire stay. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, especially the outdoor fire as we roasted marshmallows. By check-out day, my husband insisted that I re-book. Lol! We had a memorable time and took lots of pictures that will be reflected on and talked about for years. (Since we know nothing is perfect, here are the two tiny imperfections: (1) The coffee maker didn't work for us, so, we had to make the 8 mile drive to purchase coffee. (2) A piece of cosmetic stripping in the downstairs bedroom came off, but it didn't interrupt our time. I contacted Chelsea about these issues and she was extremely receptive. (Thanks, Chelsea!) We'll be back.
