Our daughter worked at the ice cream shop and we used this place as our launching pad to visit friends and family all over the coast of Maine.
The place was exactly as advertised. Check in was a breeze. Skip and Cindy did everything they could to make our stay comfortable. It seemed they thought of everything that we could want/need in the place. The neighbors were also very friendly and helpful. While we spent most of our time away from the house sightseeing and such, I can easily see how comfortable the house and property could be if we decided to stay there all week. Downtown Boothbay Harbor was only a 10 minute walk which was great to do after dinner or during the day without worrying about parking.
This family friendly cottage was comfortable, clean and very well equipped, especially with things to do on rainy days -- books, movies, puzzles, and board games for guests of all ages. The location was perfect -- a short walk to town but located in a quiet, residential setting. The hosts provided lots of information about local things to do, see, and eat.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house has everything you could need. It is beautifully kept and the hosts are lovely. They are friendly, helpful and respond quickly to any need. A great opportunity to enjoy Boothbay.
My husband and I spent the month of July here in Boothbay Harbor and despite cold and rainy weather we had a great time. I chose this location as it was nearly equally distant from my extended family to the north and south. This worked out wonderfully as each visited us several times. The cottage had a kitchen complete with everything, including a salad spinner and lobster cooker! The lobsterman across the road was happy to supply us with his catch which he cheerfully delivered for his cost. The house had many games, books and puzzles which I was thankful for as the weather was so rainy. I set up a spare table and spent many happy hours doing jigsaw puzzles. My grandchildren loved the many games as well as the croquet set that was in the shed. The many DVDs were an added bonus and I watched many movies while there. The cottage is within walking distance to the busy harbor and although the walk is up and down steep hills, this was a boon as the parking near the harbor is a bit daunting at the peak of the summer. The Maine Botanical Gardens are just a few minutes from the cottage and are such fun to visit. The huge Trolls, by a Danish artist, were a delightful addition to the fantastic flowers and attractions there. There are also many hiking trails nearby, with descriptions and directions in the basket at the cottage, along with literature on other attractions in the area. An added bonus to the wonderful vacation was the friendship we made with our knowledgeable hosts, Skip and Cyndy. Cyndy loves to tell stories and she has many! If you want to spend a week at a quiet cottage in Maine, this is the place for you! You can do as much or as little as you want with peace and quiet on a dead end road or the hustle and bustle of the town just a walk away.
Cyndy and Skip were very friendly, and gave us many insights and information about Boothbay Harbor. I really enjoyed reading on the deck and playing games out in the yard. We were happy to have the option to walk to the center of town to visit the shops. Even though the neighbors are fairly close, and two of them were doing construction, it felt very private.
Wonderful location close to downtown Boothbay Harbor. Very helpful and communicative hosts. Other than a minor cleaning issue when we arrived, we had a wonderful visit, and I can highly recommend.
Had a great stay at this lovely cottage. Nice dead end street. Great wrap around porch. Private in rear. Quiet neighborhood only a short walk to downtown harbor with all the shopping and restaurants. Owners were prompt, friendly and answered all questions about the area.
This is the second time we have stayed at Skippers Cottage, and we would definitely recommend it! There is plenty of room, our son took over the upstairs and we had the downstairs. There is a great deck to just hang out on or enjoy a meal after a day of exploring the area. The harbor is just a short walk down the hill where you can grab a bite to eat, take a boat ride, shop, have ice cream or just sit and take in the beautiful harbor views. The neighbors are friendly and the hosts are the best! Thank you Cyndy and Skip for another great week in Boothbay Bay Harbor!
A great, nostalgic cottage on a quiet edge of town. Perfect for our family of four. Easy walking distance to town and quick drives to so many of Maine’s beautiful landscapes. Cyndy and Skip were great communicators and accommodated any request we had. We will visit again and recommend to friends and family!
