* This home is located in the fire zone from the East Troublesome Fire in 2020, which took most of the homes in Sun Valley. However, this lot was not directly impacted and does still have lush vegetation surrounding the home. The area is rebuilding, but large portions of our trees are sadly gone. However, the spirit of Grand Lake is strong, and the recovery process is well under way! The vegetation is returning, and we continue to recover and tell our story of surviving the 2nd largest wildfire in history*

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I love this lake so much so it's wonderful to stay in different properties around it. This time it was my my mom and I. We knew about the stairs, but man, they are some serious stairs. No biggie, the view from the back makes up for anything inside. Plus we aren't there to be on the inside of a cabin. Unfortunately we didn't see any moose, saw a couple deer and a fox. I would recommend updating the kitchen and bath. For the price people pay, I would think they could be a little nicer. Or maybe buy dishes that match and maybe some wine glasses. Anyhoo, that's must my .02. Everything else is just gravy. Thanks for letting us stay.
very nice cabin Rustic as the add describes. Be aware that all stairs going to the upstairs area are steep. The stairs to the main bedroom are spaced far apart and the top stair is very narrow. This stair case is steep as well and the lighting above the stair case is not very good. A very old, yellow globed light fixture is it. One over the bed as well. There is a small lamp on the table but that puts out nothing for light really. Going down the stairs is not easy at any age. Pay very special attention to this and use the top of the ceiling to hold onto to get to the first step which is very narrow. Hand rails were not steady either. Getting into the main bed on the top level is also interesting. You need to kind of bend down and around to fit u der the timber roof beam. Just comes with the style of the cabin. Just be aware of these issues if you have physical challenges. View from the deck is nice. Had very noisy neighbors but that happens. Had internet service if that is important to you. Be sure to check the outside gas grill tank for gas before you need to use it. The tank was empty when I arrived so I had to disconnect it and drive back into town to the rental office to exchange it. Staff was too busy that day to bring one to me to exchange. At check in, make sure you get two keys and hang on to them. One set fell between the car seats and caused issues at check out time. There will be a $25 charge if that happens, no discussion. We did find the keys and promptly returned them to the office. We did receive our deposit back. Make sure you have room in your vehicle to haul trash back to the in town rental office dumpster which is located behind the building. No waste refuge at the cabin area. Also, be sure to bring g your own drinking water to the cabin. Cabin has well water and it is high iron and not pleasant to drink. We just picked up a flat of bottled water and two gallons of drinking water for cooking. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.
Great time thanks
What a great location, right On the edge of RMNP with a beautiful trail along the Colorado River!! Loved this trip!!
Wonderful. Very relaxing getaway. This is the place to see moose! Had two different pairs of mama and baby come right by the cabin. Cabin was well equipped and comfortable and in great location. Lots of iron in the water but that was expected. We brought bottled water so It was not a problem. Lake was perfect for paddle boarding and kayaks.
Great lakefront cabin, perfect for a family of four. Would absolutely rent again. Only feedback Would be that the stairs to the bedrooms are not kid friendly. The kayak was a nice surprise!
Unbelievable property and incredible wildlife from otters to pelicans to deer and moose. Very clean cabin Awesome kayak and fire pit were used multiple times daily. Just wish lake was stocked as was advertised. No trout anywhere from our searches and feedback from neighbors and guests.
We love Grand Lake, and Sun Valley Lake. We have stayed in this area before, in a different cabin, and this lake and neighborhood is a great vacation destination. We saw tons of wildlife, including a moose and several otters right next to the cabin. Our 11 year old twin sons loved their loft bedroom. While my husband and I also thought the master loft bedroom added to the character of the cabin, the Lincoln-log type stairs were difficult to navigate. We were disappointed by a few things. One was the poor communication by the rental company. We went in the midst of the COVID pandemic and they did not make any effort to offer us tips or updates on what was closed or open in the area. There was also no information at the cabin on this. They also told us they would be at the office until 5 the day of our arrival however when we arrived at 4:30 they were gone. They had texted directions on getting the key at least. Also we found two pairs of dirty shorts sticking out from under the back porch of the cabin. A beautiful location and experience. Just some poor impressions mixed in with that.
This is our 4th time in 14 years staying on Sun valley lake. It is our families favorite place to visit! Such a peaceful place to visit with so many adventurous activities close by. We love taking atv rides up the mountain with the close location of on the trail rentals. Pontoon rides on Lake Granby are also a favorite of ours! Our three kids who are now teenagers love fishing from the dock and kayaking on the lake! And the campfires and looking at the stars are a great way to finish the day! We will be back!!!
Perfect and quiet getaway from the city. It was our first trip since COVID-19. Plenty to do on the lake and if you’re into nature photography, it’s literally the back yard. Very close to RMNP entrance as well. The only thing to be aware of is the iron in the water, which was mentioned multiple times so we came prepared.
