Absolutely wonderful. Serene settings, Great hosts, just a fun relaxing adventurous experience and intro to the area. The cottage is a collector's dream, should be listed under the LBJ as a major San Marcos museum. I'd most highly recommend this VRBO to any and all.
This cottage was exactly what we needed for our daughters graduation. Pam was a wonderful host and the accommodations were exceptional. Very clean, very private and relaxing. The location is perfect for privacy yet close to town for any necessities. You cannot go wrong this this humble home.
My husband and I, along with our brother and sister in-law, stayed in this lovely cottage for Texas State's graduation weekend. It was a perfect spot. The cottage is well equipt and very comfortable on a lovely hill with a field behind it. It felt far away from the apartment complexes and traffic for the graduation yet was just around the corner. We particularly loved having morning coffee on the front porch watching the birds and deer and dinner on the back deck as the sun set. Perfection. It's all set up for BBQ and celebration with plenty of seating in a great large gas grill. Great spot, thanks so much
We were delighted and completely satisfied with the accommodations at the Hilltop Sunset Cottage. Our family of four adults traveled on Christmas Day to visit other family members in the San Marcos area, and the home was convenient and close to the people we wanted to be near. We arrived late on Christmas night, and we felt an especially warm welcome because the house had been decorated with festive lights and a lovely tree, and there were various items of Christmas decor sprinkled throughout the house. Everything about the furnishings was perfect - the bedrooms are spacious and clean, and the beds had nice electric blankets, which were warm and cozy on chilly winter nights. We enjoyed watching football in the TV Room and shared several large, happy family meals around the big dining room table. I was able to rock our little grandbaby to sleep in the comfy rocker in the master bedroom. The kitchen was well-appointed with every kind of dish, utensil, seasoning, condiment you could want, and Pam thoughtfully left us coffee to brew and snacks to enjoy. This home also boasts a lovely screened porch and cooking area outside (and even a children's playground set) which we were unable to enjoy because of the weather - but they would be huge assets to visitors at other times of year. Pam and the owners were accommodating and easy to work with. We highly recommend this home!
This house was so convenient for family weekend at Texas State! We could lounge at the house til the last minute and didn't have the dread of driving home after each outing. The private neighborhood gave us a secluded escape nestled right in the middle of town. When at the cottage we never felt like we were actualy in town. Everyone mentions the deer. Eight paraded by on Saturday morning like they were paid to be there! Again in town! Coffee on the front porch or back deck, horseshoes in the backyard, or playing cards on the sun porch while it rained were all part of our experience. The cottage is extremely relaxing. The hats and vintage decor were fun. What's that Dad?, says my 13 year old daughter. A radio, I replied. Really?!! Such fun! This is our home in San Marcos. Pam was an amazing host!
My girlfriend and I along with a couple we are friends with stayed here the second weekend in September for a short mini vacation weekend. I had the most fun I have had in a while staying at this house, its clean and there was lots of room especially for 4 people and the deck and back yard are amazing and we had coffee and watched the baby deer walk by. We will most definitely be staying here again the place is great and I highly recommend it.
This was great place for my girlfriends and I to get away for the weekend. The antique furnishings make this cottage retreat special. There is a unique antique hat collection that we could not help but try on! Unlike previous reviewer we found the distant whistle of the trains comforting and reminiscent of a by gown era and small town life. Texas summers can be extremely hot, duh. Despite this both the front porch and back deck were comfortable and shaded with a mild breeze. The kitchen, while not extravagant was well stocked and more than adequately suited our needs. The owners of the property are friendly and attentive to their guests. We felt welcomed into the family!
Me and 5 of my girlfriends stayed here from 6/14/2013 to 6/16/2012. We went for my friends bachelorette party! This cabin is so cute! Everything was as it was described online AND EVEN BETTER! It truly was like being home away from home. Pam was so nice, very accommodating, and helpful with ideas of things to do in san marcos! The cabin feels like you are secluded from the rest of town, but in fact you are only a matter of minutes away from the square! I would recommend this property to anyone of any age group! Its close to campus for families visiting, close to downtown for a group of younger people who want to go out, and its secluded for a nice get away if you just want a quiet place to go! Everything was very clean. The tv and internet worked great. I had read a previous review about how the train sounds were awful and that this place wasn't as secluded as it says, but that is not true at all! You don't even hear the train unless you're looking to hear it! There are a few homes close by, but no one bothers you... it is gated so you feel safe...This place is like a tiny heaven on earth! It's fantastic! I will for sure be staying here again if I'm ever in the area! LOVED IT!
Thank you so much for your hospitality. We loved every minute of our stay and the descriptions on your vrbo site were very accurate. We would not change a thing and would recommend this to everyone. Our family loved the river, and it was such a surprise because we never expected so great a swimming hole in a public park. Thanks again.Dave
