Welcome cottagers! Good news-the access road, Rustic Lane, has been repaired ensuring user-friendly, easy access from the main road to the lakeside cottage.
Read on for a fuller description of this idyllic setting.

This cottage is lovingly cared for and beautifully situated 50' from the lake atop a tree-covered hill with a breathtaking view. The cottage has a rustic feel, features lots of pine, wood floors, knotty pine interior, handcrafted cabinetry, and a small kitchen area withbrand new appliances. An attached deck runs the full length of the cottage and offers a perfect place to sit, read, converse, play cards, meditate, dote on the lake, eat at the picnic table, bird-watch (3 generations of a Great Blue Heron family flying in and out of the bay, standing in the shallows picking off fish with their long beaks has warmed our hearts for decades) not to mention our resident loons, humming birds, finches, woodpeckers, etc.. And of course you can hang out at the lakeside, sit on the dock, fish, swim, sunbathe, and observe nature in all its glory. There's 1 bathroom with a shower and 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a double bed. Of the 2 remaining bedrooms, one has 1 single bed, and the other has 2 single beds. Guests are asked to bring their own linens. The property abuts the Rideau Trail, which is a Provincial treasure and offers excellent hiking options.
Running water in bathroom and kitchen is lake water pumped up from the lake, not potable, but fine for washing dishes and yourselves. Guests need to bring drinking water -water for tea, coffee, washing vegetables, cooking, etc..

No smoking, no pets.

Very good written communication by text, all necessary details clearly explained. Cottage very nice, good kitchen and dining area, comfortably furnished living space, many basics provided, good appliances and a decent small bathroom / shower. Everything in working order. Big deck looks thru light woods to quiet bay. Stairs to dock were safe. Take an extra blanket or two if cooler weather.

On a quiet cove, the Lake Rideau water was perfect for a swim or a paddle. The pictures in the listing don’t show the lakefront at water level—there are stairs down to the water and a small dock. We rented a canoe from Perth Major Outfitters. They have kayaks too. The lake is fairly quiet in the week without the heavy motor boat traffic that can whiz around lakes in the Muskokas. As shown in the pictures, this is a lovely old-school log cabin cottage. The rustic feel reminded us so much of a family cottage we loved. Everything you’d need is at the cottage, including fans for the nights when it might get a bit warm for sleeping. The kitchen has newer appliances and was sparkling clean when we arrived. There are some great restaurants in nearby Perth, one of the most beautiful small towns in Ontario. Bistro 54 in Perth is a charming Italian place with outdoor dining space. Thinking of cooking at the cottage? Check out Foodsmiths in Perth for a great selection of local and organic offerings, or the grocery store in Westport which is a shorter drive. We had a fabulously relaxing week and would recommend this beautiful spot to anyone. As a host, Paul was very helpful and responded promptly with any questions we had.

We had a great stay at this classic cottage in Rideau Lakes district. It is off the beaten path and very quiet. It's perched up in the trees with a view of the lake. Our host, Paul, was amazing to deal with. He provided very clear instructions on how to access the cottage and where things are. The road access was a bit precarious because of impact of ran. Paul was very clear about that so we were aware before arriving. A four wheel drive vechicle is required. Another thing to be aware of is there is no air conditioning. While we were there it was really HOT. Fans are provided so that was helpful for sleeping. Also, the lake was very weedy and not great for swimming. That is not uncommon in later August of a really hot summer.

This rustic cottage is beautifully situated on a rise above the lake at the entrance of a secluded bay. The access is via a rough fire road with a steep descent and should only be attempted with either a truck or SUV. It is a very quiet getaway but close enough to Westport to be able to pop in and refresh supplies. The owner was super helpful and very communicative.

This is a perfect getaway spot. We spent a glorious time here swimming, relaxing, BBQing on the deck and taking in nature from a stunning perch atop a hill with an incredible view of the water. Paul is a generous and accommodating host. We were grateful to him for sharing this special place.

Just as advertised. Nice cottage in the woods. Lake great for early morning swims. On our particular stay dates a short stretch of the road into the cottage had suffered some rain damage which made about 30 feet of the drive a little worrisome but I am sure Paul will be fixing it up as soon as he can.
