Stayed Jan 1, 1Generally well equipped kitchen although some of the saucepans are a little tired, We had difficulty finding the users manual for the hob as various manuals put in different places instead of just in one box file. The house was very comfortable and the heating kept us very cosy during our stay in late October. The setting is lovely despite the very narrow roads within the village. One warning, we have an ordinary estate car but the turn to get to the parking space at the rear is very tight.

Stayed Jun 29, 2025Absolutely delightful cottage. Well maintained. Cosy but not cramped. There wasn't a river view from the rear garden as the bushes had been allowed to grow too high, though, and this was disappointing. However, i would recommed this cottage and would stay there again.

Stayed Jan 1, 1The Nook provided a cosy, welcoming base for our short break in Dittisham. While other reviews have complained about the cleanliness of the cottage and lack of hot water, we found everything was spotless on arrival and the shower worked efficiently. It would have been helpful to have received some more detailed instructions on how to reach the cottage as there is a turning area at the top of the village which you have to use to access Lower Street. Similarly, the parking area behind the house is quite large and we were not sure if specific bays belonged to The Nook. There is an area by the bins which a neighbour informed us is used as a turning circle, so we had chosen the correct area, at the top of the parking area. The entrance to the car park is narrow but wide enough for a family-sized car. We had brought some supplies from home but were delighted to find a generous welcome pack in the cottage which included fresh coffee, tea, olive oil, milk and biscuits. Inside, we found the cottage comfortable and well equipped for our stay. The location was perfect and we hardly used our car, preferring to walk down to catch the ferry to Dartmouth or Greenway or walking our dog on The Ham. There are beautiful views across the Creek from the bottom of the garden and we really enjoyed our time here. Overall, a lovely, peaceful stay in a beautiful South Hams village.

Stayed Jan 1, 1Once we parked the car we didn’t use it again. We used the ferry boats to go to Dartmouth. Excellent.

Stayed Aug 30, 2024Gorgeous cottage. Very well equipped. Beds comfy. Very clean. Steep staircase to the upstairs with just a rope to hold onto, incredibly narrow driveway entrance…scratched my car badly and a dodgy tv which took a long time to figure out! Great pizza at the FBI, great coffee and cake at the Anchor cafe and also had a lovely meal of fish n chips at the Red Lion. A wonderful stay and would recommend.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We loved our stay at The Nook. Perfectly situated in the quieter part of Dittisham at the top of the village within the sound of the church bells. So handy to have a parking space and the garden is lovely with a view over the river. We were lucky enough to eat out most days and it was incredibly peaceful with friendly neighbours. The cottage was very clean and well equipped. The stairs are very steep so may be difficult for those with limited mobility. A great location to tour around South Devon. Would definitely recommend.

Stayed Jun 14, 2024Great cottage with everything we needed. The parking is tight, but we managed to get our Discovery in. The property is lovely, but I imagine it would be a bit of a challenge for less physically able people. Quite steep stairs and lots of steps and slopes to get to the village. All in all we had a great time and enjoyed the location. Dittisham is a tiny village and the roads to get to it are narrow. Dartmouth is a must see and the dog friendly ferry from the Ferry Boat Inn is a great day trip.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We had a very enjoyable stay in the The Nook cottage, which had the added benefit of off road parking and a very sunny garden. Only negatives to stop us gaving a 5 star rating was the extractor fan in bathroom did not work, also huge build of dust on bathroom lights. The internet was always droping out even when close to router. We arrived with the washing up liquid empty. We would still recommend the cottage and will book again. Martyn

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The Nook is a comfortable cottage in a lovely location but attention to detail was sadly lacking. Bedding had not been changed, with dirty sheets and a previous occupant's belongings in one of the beds. This was rectified the next day. We also found dirty crockery, cups, cutlery and equipment in drawers, there were missing essential kitchen items (baking tray), and a broken bath tap. Parking and recycling instructions were unclear and / or contradictory. When you're paying hotel prices for self-catering I think you shoudn't expect these issues to arise and it was disappointing they did. Having said that, we enjoyed our stay. The village was quiet, picturesque and friendly (the Red Lion being a notable outlier here) with the whole of the lovely Dart estuary on your doorstep. My recommendation comes on the proviso that cleaning and housekeeping are improved.
