Summary:

Tucked away in a peaceful spot and just a few minutes walk from Port Isaac harbour is this stunning, newly renovated cottage for three. Inside, the restored period features have been perfectly complimented with tasteful bohemian interiors. Old cobbled stones contrast beautifully against the crisp white walls, whilst the navy velvet sofa and burnt orange furnishings create a warm and inviting space.

The Space:

A log burner and projector are on hand for cosy nights in, plus there are books and board games to borrow freely during your stay. Leading on from the open plan living and dining space is the kitchen, which has been kitted out with wooden cladded walls that resemble a stylish surf shack. There's everything you need to cook up hearty meals, from a brand new Smeg oven and hob to good quality knives and Kitchen Aid kettle and toaster.

Exposed wooden floorboards continue up the cottage stairs to the first floor where there are two bedrooms. The master room features a clever clothes rail that has been hand made using a foraged branch and leather straps, as well as an antique rattan bed and chest of drawers. Enjoy slow mornings with idyllic countryside views straight from the bed! The second bedroom is warm and welcoming with a comfortable single bed, high-quality linens and chest of drawers for storage. The two rooms share a bathroom that is equipped with a well-pressured antique shower, a gorgeous upcycled vanity unit and brass fixtures - it's the sort of bathroom you'd dream of having at home!

Outside in the garden, enjoy reading on the grass in the sun or relaxing on the benches with a glass of wine and the fire pit crackling in the background. It's a place of tranquillity and peace, where you can wander to the harbour and beach at low tide or take a long walk through the hills right from the door. Polzeath is just a 15-minute drive whilst Padstow is a little further: both are great spots for surfers and beach-goers.

Dogs are welcome with a fee of £20/dog (max 2). It is on the condition they are not allowed on the soft furnishings or in the bedrooms.

Guest Access:

Guests will have exclusive access to the entire property.

The Neighborhood:

Port Isaac is an idyllic fishing village located on the North coast of Cornwall. Much of the village has kept its charm by remaining relatively unchanged from its days of fishing and slate export in the previous century. Traditional fisherman's cottages line the streets, as well as a handful of small independent shops, cafes and restaurants.

There are plenty of dining options in the village. Enjoy good pub grub and a local pint with a view at Stargazy Inn, impressive seafood at chef Nathan Outlaw's two restaurants and delicious stone-baked pizzas at The Angry Anchovy. Polzeath is just a fifteen minute drive away, with plenty of good dining options. Padstow is a little further at around 30 minutes drive. The area is well known as one of Cornwall's main foodie spots, boasting restaurants from Rick Stein as well as a handful of independently owned pubs, cafes and takeaways.

Polzeath is a popular surfing spot for swimmers and surfers, and there are plenty of places to hire surfboards and wetsuits. Avid walkers can follow the Cornish Coastal Path from Port Isaac around the Pentire Headland and down towards Polzeath Beach. This is a 3-4 hour hike one way, but there are regular buses should your legs get too tired to walk back! East of Port Isaac you will find Tintagel, a quaint seaside village well-known for its historic castle. There is a lovely walk from here up to Boscastle, which follows the clifftops and provides sensational coastal views.

Getting Around:

Due to the remote nature of Cornwall we would highly recommend bringing a car to make the most of your time here. Port Isaac is a very old fishing village built before cars were even a consideration, so as a result very few properties - including the cottage - have parking. However, a carpark is located just one minute walk away and costs £10 per day.

Other Things to Note:

Dogs are welcome with a fee of £20/dog (max 2). It is on the condition they are not allowed on the soft furnishings or in the bedrooms.

Interaction with Guests:

We will be available via message, email and phone during your stay. Any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch!

Quaint cottage in a lovely village. Cottage was nicely decorated but the interior needs some tlc. The bathroom was very damp, with large areas of black mold. The kitchen was not cleaned properly and there were areas of mold on the work surfaces and washbasin. There was also mold on some of the equipment. Contacted the owners who cleaned the bathroom, but it was still very damp. Heating in the cottage was not capable of warming the interior to a reasonable temperature, outside was 7c. Beamer was a pain. The picture quality was less then a HD tv, screen size wasn't much bigger, as you couldn't move the beamer back far enough, and it took 5 mins to set up or you had to walk around it the whole week.

Cosy and well equipped cottage which retained warmth from radiators and log fire . Excellent Wi-Fi connection., loved the cinema style television screen with Prime and Netflix. Great Centre for visiting Padstow and Tintagel or for just walking in the local area.. Delicious meals in both the Gaverne Hotel and The Mote. Sleepless first night because of banging appearing to come from attic.Daylight identified a tile On the front wall of the cottage which had come loose during the storm. Used masking tape to secure it temporarily, needs fixing before the next storm. Top row second from left from bedroom window. Would have been helpful to be provided with a hairdryer and some egg cups.

Enjoyed our 4 day stay at Beacon Cottage, the location is good and the decor very pleasant. It was disappointing that the toilet seat was broken on our arrival and couldn’t be fixed while we were there. It would have been appreciated if there had been a good reading light available, nowhere to sit and read or see with a good light, perhaps a portable LED would be a good addition. One small tea towel ( more like a hand towel) not adequate for 4 days..no sponge or dish cloth available either, how were we supposed to wipe the dining table ( we had to buy some!) In spite of these little nighles we had a happy time snd we’re blessed with good weather. Thank you

We loved staying at the cottage. It's in a central location but is quiet with stunning views. The space is cosy, welcoming and has everything you need for a short stay. My only suggestion would be to improve the drainage of the shower. Even a quick wash can cause some flooding in the bathroom that took a while too clear. Having said that I would stay here again and would recommend to friends. Thank you!

Central location easy to walk to the heart of the village. Character cottage but needs a deep clean. Drains smell in the bathroom, draws in bedroom were filthy. seat cushions covered in hair and dirt. For a premium price expect better standards than this. Lastly no drop off point for luggage so travel light and then not a problem. Finding a car park space was a lottery, even in October.

The cottage is in a great location near the top of Fore Street so was easy to stroll everywhere. It’s very cute and the décor is simple and stylish – and very comfy beds! We lucked out with the weather and had a scorcher of a week and it was lovely to be able to use the garden all week and also have respite from the heat with the cool flagstones inside the cottage.
