We have been coming to Orroland for 21 years and it never fails to deliver. Even though we didn't have the best weather we still managed to have a much needed relaxing break with a few great walks in between the rain. The cottage was, as always, clean and comfortable with everything we needed provided. We can't wait to go back again

Second time at Cutlar’s Lodge and we loved it just as much as the first time around. Not the cheapest place to stay but I’m a firm believer that you get what you pay for and for us that’s the absolute tranquility you get a Orroland. A genuine feeling of relaxation with some absolutely stunning scenery and wildlife literally outside the door. Accessible for nearby villages and towns and the lodge itself is clean, well stocked, well organised with some stunning artwork to boot. Highly recommend the place and we will return in the future.

This is a lovely part of the world and a beautiful estate to stay in. Secluded gardens and great space for our dogs. Unfortunately, going in July meant that we were constantly attacked by midges and hose flies. Around the lake it was unbearable and even walking up the road of an evening was pretty dreadful. They just ruined our stay.

Had a fantastic stay at this beautiful holiday cottage. Set near the coast with fresh air, lovely gardens, and a tranquil lake, it was the perfect place to unwind. The cottage is tastefully decorated, incredibly comfortable, and extremely well equipped—everything you could possibly need was right there. The bed was super comfy, and every detail made it feel like a real home away from home. We left feeling refreshed and already planning next visit!

I can’t recommend the lodge enough. The location is perfect; quiet in lovely grounds and close to the sea. The lodge itself is like a home from home, with everything needed for a comfortable stay and immaculately clean.

We have just had a wonderful break staying in Cutlar’s Lodge. The house is in a fabulous location with stunning grounds to enjoy. There are nice walks including beaches and countryside on your door step. The Lodge is stylish, roomy and very comfortable. We hope to make a return next year. Faultless.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Orroland. The owners really have created a very special place that didn’t disappoint. The grounds are stunning with the lakes, wildflower meadows and tump. We spent a lovely evening in the boathouse with the log fire roaring, playing board games. The walk down through the woodlands to the shore was beautiful. We were so excited to discover the waterfall and, coming from Norfolk, to see a red squirrel on the shore! The house was spotlessly clean and had everything that we needed for a comfortable stay. The only improvement I could suggest is an additional toilet. We are a family of six and sometimes it was tricky with just the one bathroom. Thank you for a wonderful stay in possibly the prettiest part of Dumfries and Galloway! We hope to return soon.

We spent a week in May in Cutlar’s Lodge. The weather overall was kind which gave the estate something of an Edwardian summer feeling. Absolutely beautiful with a delicious hint of eccentricity! The cottage itself is spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The location, as indicated, is exquisite and so peaceful. We spent a lot of time sitting watching swallows, martins and even a red squirrel. It was also delightful to stroll through the estate or down to the shore. It is a fine area for walking. There are plenty of maps and guides in the house. We did the local walks from the house (in the rain but green and lovely) round the point from Balcary Bay (spectacular) and up Screel Hill and Bengairn (strenuous!) Dundrennan Abbey is well worth a visit. Kirkcudbright is picturesque and relaxed and we can recommend the Selkirk Arms for dinner! The community shop at Auchencairn is well stocked and does a good coffee. A beautiful area and a perfect holiday cottage. Highly recommended!
