This is a great cottage to get away from the daily grind. Clean and well equipped. Close to everything you need to unwind. Went to the Warren Dunes State park everyday and you can’t beat the sunsets, just breathtaking!

Great little house in a quiet neighborhood- everything you could need and a 15 minute walk to the lake if you don’t want to pay the 11 per day park fee. Be aware that wireless service is pretty miserable in the area, but luckily there is great Wi-Fi at the home. Dunes are fabulous and the parks in the area are kept spotless.

The house is cute and has good potential but could use some TLC. Check in was delayed bc owner forgot to send code. Upon entering the home with groceries the fridge and freezer were warm and food was not kept cold. There was sand on the floors and dishes/silverwear were not well cleaned (had food on them). I did a whole house clean including kitchen and dishes upon entering. The deck is a nice space however there are some rotten floorboards that could be replaced. Inside the house there are some large gaps in the floorboards as well. There is a firepit space out back but the chairs are so filthy and covered with dirt that we did not use. The beach supplies are stored in a small closet in the house and were stacked to the ceiling. Upon opening the door to the closet a huge cooler fell on me and 3 chairs spilled out. Prob not an ideal space to cram in beach supplies. In a house that can sleep 4 people only 3 beach towels were provided. Overall the beds were comfy and AC worked, but we will not return to this rental. It was a stressful start to our vacation.

The house itself was just fine clean and neat. The grounds need attention, over grown by 3 -4 feet around retire property, dead tree next to the driveway, branches and bark falling a storm came through luckily nothing big fell. The handicapped ramp is block off needing repair, fire pit chairs need power washed along with the deck and gutters this property needs taken back to how it was a few years back. We were there for the house and beach so on this particular stay the yard wasn't an issue for just but if the kids and grandkids would have came a nicer exterior property would have been great. All in all i am pleased a would book there again i hope this review has a positive impact on the owner to take it back a few years to make the outside more appealing and comfortable

The Blue Door Cottage was just the right fit for what we were looking for. It was very clean and comfortable. The backyard was lovely and you could even enjoy it in the rain, as there is a cover on some of the deck. It is situated close to all that area has to offer…great restaurants, ice cream, swimming at the Warren Dunes, etc. And it is a very dog friendly area.

The location was great, the house was very well appointed, the bicycles in the shed made it fun & easy to get to the dunes, and the back deck is exactly what cityfolk need with our coffee in the morning. Justin was exceptionally responsive and Merlin told me about almost two dozen different birds on the property!

My husband knew I needed a break from caregiving and mothering, so I booked this cabin close to my favorite Michigan park, Warren Dunes. The cabin had everything I needed for a very relaxing retreat including a Kuerig for my morning coffee, a fireplace for my chilly return from watching the sunset, a clean and comfortable bed, and all the delightful touches that make staying at a vrbo so fun , such as cute decor, a warm throw, or vintage novels to read. Thanks to the host for providing this choice spot just a short walk from Warren Dunes. Mission accomplished!

We needed a late March getaway from the city and this was perfect. Justin has thought of everything. The house is very comfortable--both living room and beds. Nice decorated. Great water pressure. All the conveniences of home. Very quiet, close to the park and to restaurants. We'll definitely go again.

Great location, great home, GREAT HOST!! Our 2 boys loved everything about our trip. Quick drive to beautiful beaches or take the scenic route and walk the path and over the gorgeous dunes! House was very clean and well equipped with everything we needed and more. Justin was extremely responsive to any questions we had and went above and beyond. Highly recommend Blue Door Cottage, we will be returning!

We enjoyed our short stay at the property. Our only concern is the intermittent wifi signal strength. The property had an amazing number of DVDs, CDs, games and books for entertainment that does not involve a TV!

I grew up coming to the Michigan shores from Chicago, and have watched the area change a lot over the years. Change is of course inevitable, and often welcome, but it's also a little sad to see things getting very gentrified, so this charming and unfussy cottage is a delight to find, it still feels like the Michigan of my youth. We love the old-school feel, easy comfort, and charming care taken to make it appealing. It has everything you could need to cook and hang out, and its location cannot be beat--to be able to walk into the Dunes state park is amazing, the beach goes on forever and is stunning, and and the hosts have also provided everything you need to enjoy being out and about, there are beach chairs and bikes and buckets and an umbrella. Sawyer and the area have nice shops and restaurants... and communicating with the hosts is brilliant. It's bliss, we'll be back!! (ok one caveat: people comment on the beds. They have thick foam toppers, so they are undeniably very soft, but happily we like softer beds, so they suited us okay, if they don't suit you maybe you can just remove the toppers)

This house was in a great location and close to multiple area attractions. Overall, the house was delightful however needed a few spots deep cleaned. Bed and towels were nice and clean. Bed was comfortable and lots of great dvds and games were available. The outside of the house and landscaping appeared to need some TLC but didn’t affect our stay overall. Covered table on the back deck was nice, and we relaxed there at times. Thanks for sharing your house with us.

House is in great location right next to Warren Dunes State Park. Turkeys and deer walking around. Had everything as advertised. House was clean. Could use a little maintenance such as slow bathtub drain and dusty air vent or two. Deck was a nice place to eat meals. Back yard around fire pit was messed up didn’t use it.

Here’s what we loved about the cottage – the location. When we opened the door, we were met with a loud beeping noise every 15-30 seconds, and we could not easily find the source. We tried calling the host. He did not pick up, and his VM was full. We checked the welcome guide/binder and could not find any helpful information. After about 30 minutes, we found the carbon monoxide detector plugged into an outlet near the baseboards behind two dining room chairs. We hit the reset button, and the CO detector went blissfully quiet. At 1:30 a.m., we were woken up to the CO detector beeping again. We reset the CO again and messaged the host to ask him to replace the decade old advice. Later that morning, the host responded, apologizing, but saying that he would not replace the CO detector or send someone to replace it. Luckily, we were able to find a store that first full day where we purchased a CO detector. After reaching out to VRBO support, the host again apologized but claimed that the smoke detector was also a CO detector. It is not. The home just needs some care. Both beds need new mattresses. The use of memory foam toppers cannot correct for a mattress so soft that your body forms a V when you lay down. We also hosed down the lawn furniture on our first day to remove a heavy layer of dirt. VRBO Support has told the host that he needs to compensate us for not having a safety feature that he listed. He has stopped responding to them and to us.

My husband and I and our two girls enjoyed everything about this cottage and our stay in Sawyer. We come yearly and this was our favorite house yet. It is super quiet, watching deer and turkey in the yard, easy access to the park, plenty of comfortable living space and conveniences in the home. We never needed to contact Justin, but he was responsive before and after. This area is wonderful for a classic family lake trip. We enjoyed his collection of DVDs for the one night we didn't go climb Old Baldy. Highly recommend and will book for next year soon!
