Having stayed at Melfort Village previously (but always in November), this stay in the spacious Beechwood House had the added benefit of longer days and better weather which added to the memories. The staff were great as usual, always helpful and informative. We used the swimming pool and Gunpowder Room facilities when we weren't out walking and exploring the glorious surrounding scenery. The views from the house were outstanding. Also, the fact that our dog was welcome made the stay more relaxing

The cottage sits above the village with its own private sloped garden - the view is fabulous. The cottage has a good size kitchen with good cookware, utensils etc. The lounge felt smaller but cozy, all in a slightly dated cottage style - but clean and well presented. The downstairs shower room and cloakroom has clearly been refurbished and was simple, clean and modern. Ithink the upstairs bathroom must be due for a refurb as it was very dated. The toilet was clearly fitted for a child’s height. The bedrooms are as expected, with the main bedroom feeling larger despite having a travel cot in. The swimming pool complex was excellent - unfortunately the hours of opening were not very helpful if you want to swim after putting children to bed, nor does it open early - i am sure that a range of different hours on different days might help to cater for different needs. The children’s playroom whilst unassuming was loved by our toddler and is open 24 hours a day - great for early risers. The laundry room - 2 washers and 2 dryers. Operated by tokens that give 1 hour of electricity meaning that machines stop mid cycle and on 2 occasions meant that machines were out of action when I visited. But staff assure me that they are looking into this as the system is new. The staff at reception were pleasant and helpful, I got the impression there was staff shortages but they still seemed to cope well. We had a lovely stay, the weather could have been better - but the scenery as always was gorgeous.

The property was rented to use on a bed and breakfast basis as we were spending most of our time with friends in another Melfort property. The accommodation was excellent: a spacious kitchen/dining area which could be divided from the living room with sliding doors; a reasonably sized living room; 2 generous bedrooms; an upstairs bathroom and a downstairs shower room. Altogether, a very comfortably sized and equipped 2 bedroom unit. The only criticism concerns the usage/cost of electricity. As we were only spending limited periods of time in the house and were only using 1 bedroom, significant efforts were made to set each of the electric radiators and underfloor heaters appropriately. Despite this, the charge for the week was well above the average indicated by Melfort administration and certainly higher than had been anticipated. Given the highly adjustable nature of the heating units, I suggest that much more information and guidance should be given, over and above the basic operation manuals.

We enjoyed 2 full days staying at Melfort Village and on the whole, we really enjoyed our stay. The house was beautiful, clean and comfortable and in a beautiful location. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and took every effort to make us feel welcome. Our children had the wonderful opportunity to get swimming lessons which were brilliant and reasonably priced, Olwynn could not have been nicer or better for our children. Unfortunately at the time we were there, the pool was cold as there was a problem with the heating and the jacuzzi was only usable on our last day. The play room and games room had potential to be great but there was limited access to the play room both days and the facilities in the games room were only half working. We were extremely disappointed by the extra costs incurred from having used the logs and kindling provided in the house when we arrived and then to have to pay a bill of £40 extra for two days electricity!! We knew there would be extra cost for electricity as this was made clear to me after my original booking but we felt this was rather steep.

We discovered this charming place in the summer of 2018 and so we returned late Jan 2019. Everything about this place is perfect from the homely log burner; immaculate house; perfect views; the peace and quiet; the birds and red squirrells - it’s heaven. Did not want to leave

We had a wonderful stay at Melfort and really appreciated the friendliness and help offered by staff, especially Olwyn, who was truly an angel, with a voice to match. The highlight of Melfort's contribution was the ceilidh we attended on the Monday night.

Very dog friendly; a special large fenced field for owners to play with their dogs. Comfy beds. Well equipped house. Staff very helpful & friendly. Worth going to morning meeting as masses of information about the area. Beautiful drive around bay to main road. Setting scenic. Only gripe was house needed more wet weather mats inside front door as lots of leaves and fresh grass cuttings treading through house. I put one of my dog towels down to protect carpet. Couldnt use back door as stuck but we should have informed reception as they would have arranged for it to be fixed immediately. Didnt expect to be asked to strip beds. First time we've been asked to do that! All grounds well kept. Very nice place. Could do with selling the basics on site but not far to local shop where you can get a nice lunch. Lovely peaceful spot

This was a return visit to Melfort as we enjoyed the higjh standards and friendliness the first time. We were not disappointed. It is a great place to holiday with lovely views and plenty to keep us busy around the area. We enjoyed the restaurant - they even have a stairlift - and the prompt attention we received when we messed up the TV controls!. Staff were friendly and efficient and the grounds were well kept with all the facilities offered. We had a restful holiday with no problems sleeping in the quiet and comfortable bedrooms.
