Camarillo, California
This is truly Country Living at its best. You will see Red Tailed Hawk flying overhead.
At night you will hear owls hooting. There are the occassional coyote that may walk by. Our home is called "Eagle's Nest" for a good reason. We sit high above the rest of the world with a 360 degree bird's eye view of beautiful landscaped agricultural fields down below. It is on a private road with properties all 20 or 40 acres. Although it is very private with little noise or traffic it is still close to the #101 freeway. The home is completely furnished with beautiful wood floors throughout! Eat in kitchen! Be close to nature yet close to the city! Golfing & Beaches nearby! Popular Camarillo Premium Outlet Center just a few minutes away! Close to many wedding venues! 20 minutes to the Beach! Santa Barbara 40 minutes! Malibu 30 minutes! Hollywood 45 minutes! So much to see and do or kick back and relax! Best climate year round! It is a perfect get away to relax, renew and rejuvenate!!
Quite, fantastic views, long private road you wouldn't want to drive 30 foot RV to but otherwise great place. Not to friendly as place to walk dogs but my dogs like exploring the bushes so it was fine. Would stay again if they would have me just won't bring motorhome!
I had so many issues at this house. I wonder if the owners have too many properties to maintain. I haven’t had a single issue in any other VRBO property. I had ants in the house, no detergent to run dishwasher, curtain rod hanger came out of the wall, and the cover for the electrical socket broke. So much for relaxing.
I want to start this review with saying it's an absolutely stunning location/view. EXACTLY what I was looking for! Peaceful, quiet and filled with a country charm. The house itself was obviously lovingly built and has lots of personality with a huge wrap around deck. I have no issues with the parking arrangements as did a previous reviewer...nor with the sail boats being worked on...none of that is within eye shot unless you are looking down into the yard of the property manager. Yes, the property has some age on it, but felt safe to walk around deck, etc... So, I was very satisfied with our stay!! However, there were a few things that should be noted: There is no Air Conditioning as noted in essential amenities description of property. This was not a big deal as the breeze and temperature up the mountain kept the house cool as long as the windows and doors were open. But should update the description as for some folks this would be a deal breaker... Also, the yard is not fenced as said in Amenities (safety section)...only the balcony around the house. Washer/Dryer is not located in the rental, but in the downstairs apartment of the property manager. Luckily I had another option for those needs as I was not going to do my laundry in someone elses's home... Minor issues at check-in were handled promptly by the property owner and the guy downstairs, but will have to join a previous reviewer that the Guest Book is outdated with incorrect information on the person who lives below the house. Also, an important detail to share with perspective renters as I anticipated a woman but turned out it was a young man coming an going.
Overall I was very disappointed when I rolled up to the property. There were 2 sailboats in the lower drive, one on a trailer with 4 flat tires, and one on the ground. There was an old white van parked off the driveway that I was supposed to park in. Shutters falling down, the screen door had been repaired but was still broken and the front porch stairs did not seem solid to walk on. I have a feeling that the owner does not know the situation of how the property manager is managing the property. We had been driving for a couple of days when we arrived and were staying for my son's wedding. We chose this property for the seclusion and the quiet and the view that the online add professed. In that, we were not disappointed! It was a beautiful view and a good choice not to be in hotel with the stress of family stuff right next door. It was relaxing to come home to... except for the 2nd night when the mouse started darting around the kitchen. Then it wasn't so relaxing. Reviews of the property suggested there have been mice in the past and it is such a gorgeous remote area, I can see why the wildlife would come around looking for free food. I did not see any traps in any of the cupboards but we bought some and caught 1 mouse the next day. Now I need to also say, the house did not smell like there was a mouse problem and the lady who was finishing cleaning when I arrived did a great job. So maybe that mouse just ran in when we were unloading the car or sometime during our visit. We were under the impression there were laundry facilities available on site. When I went to investigate that to do laundry, I woke up the guy living downstairs who told me the laundry was in his kitchen and I was welcome to come in and use it. I did not feel comfortable with that so I said no thank you. We found a laundromat in town to use. Not a huge deal, but definitely not what I was expecting. There was no soap to run the dishwasher, so we washed dishes by hand. The book of information on the table was not up to date ... listing Paul as the manager, referencing the manager as She in a number of places and it was Jake that we met downstairs. We felt like overall the place was livable, and we didn't want to look for alternative options with my son's wedding as the reason we were there. I think the place could be absolutely wonderful if it was maintained and the listing was updated and truthful. Overall disappointed with stay
I fell in love with Eagles nest! It had all you would ever need. The surrounding the property was a bit rustic with its jaw dropping views. The inside was charming and had all that I needed. I was traveling by myself and really felt the comforts of a home away from home. Though you feel like you are a million miles away from anywhere, you are a quick 10-15 min away from town. I can’t wait to bring my wife back to this special humbly abode. Thanks Kathryn and Captain John!
Very pleasant stay in a comfortable environment. We stayed for 3 weeks and found the house more than adequate. Check in process was easy. On site manager was helpful and courteous.
We really enjoyed our stay at this house in Camarillo. For us, it was close to our family in CA, and the 3 sided deck afforded awesome views of the Channel Islands and ocean, mountains, and diverse countryside.
Great location. Quiet. Would definitely stay there again.
Mornings are cool and foggy adding to the power of the mountain views. Comfortable and cute. Thanks for a nice visit to a beautiful area.
Eagle's Nest is even better than the VRBO description. It's way up on top of the mountain where the views are spectacular, and very little traffic going by. The bed was very comfy with wonderful cotton sheets.
