Stayed Oct 24, 2025We loved the location on the water with beautiful sunsets! The kitchen is upgraded and well-stocked, the main living/dining area is cute and homey with personal touches and games. The deck has ample seating with magnificent views and stairs to the beach below! Bonus, the outdoor shower and hammock were really nice additions to a beach house! For a stay for 6 adults it is worth mentioning that the Loft was reportedly not maintained (no linens etc provided by the rental company) and all 3 first floor bedrooms are interconnected (with doors) so that anyone staying in the twin room needs to walk through one of the other two bedrooms. Also, we were asked to sign a rental agreement with very unhospitable language/stipulations by the rental company that were not specified on the website when we booked the property (e.g. there is room for 3 cars but having any more than 2 cars parked on the property is cause for eviction with no street parking is allowed and having any more than 6 people at the house at any time is cause for eviction.) We also needed to plan to have the dishes washed, dried and returned to the cupboards before leaving, not just left in the dishwasher (or face fines). That being said, I otherwise found the people at the rental company to be very kind and responsive (e.g. they brought us extra toilet paper during our stay). PS the outdoor trash can was on the side of the house where the shed is. Overall a lovely stay.

Stayed Oct 6, 2025We had a great experience here. Got to see the gamut of weather conditions right there. A lovely experience all around.Pros--Waterfront location Comfortable bedsAuthentic beach houseViews and especially sunsetsVery quiet and private, walk right down the stairs to the bayKitchen was well equipped with everything Comprehensive guest guide Wraparound deck had shade and sun options through the day.Lovely landscaping of plants including a mature fig tree in the front yardCons--Lovely mature fig tree had ripe figs fruit flies. They were everywhere by the thousands when we arrived. Good news is a) probably seasonal b) we knocked them down in the first day with red wine traps (red wine, drop of dish soap, saran with holes on top). Pro tips: Cheap wine works great, buy the 5 stuff don't waste your drinking wine. If there are many on flat surfaces like the bathroom mirror Windex will take them out en masse without waiting for them to wander into the wine traps. Keep the traps active throughout your stay to avoid an uptake. I see others have complained about the bug infestation but there was nothing there except the fruit flies. They were an infestation this time of year. Annoying but don't bite or contaminate anything. I would not avoid this lovely location for that reason unless this is just something you are not into dealing with this. Suggestions--Do bring bottled water for drinking, coffee, etc. The mineral well water is strong on taste and smell.

Stayed Sep 6, 2025Avoid at all costs. Filthy, bug-infested dump. Worse, it took the property management company 18 hours to get us into another property.

Stayed Aug 29, 2025The cottage was nice, quiet and well equipped. We would actually love to stay there again. The only issues we had were the horrible infestation with fruit flies that the owner let us know about on the way there so we really could not prepare for, they did say they would send someone out on the second day but no one ever came and then the pictures were a little deceiving about how updated the outside furniture appeared to be. Our son actually got splinters from the chairs and hurt his foot on the deck out side when the wood was patched.

Stayed Jul 21, 2025The cottage is super cute and we loved the quiet road and waterfront. Easy to get to Cape Charles and quiet! However the cottage wasn’t super clean upon arrival and we felt like we were staying at a relative’s home. Personal effects were all about- hats on hooks, photos, collections, lots of clutter if I’m honest. The cottage was cleaned up but not clean, I almost busted out the vacuum and went to work but I really wanted to simply enjoy time with my kids and mom. We made it work by moving things out of the way to make space for light cooking and use of the tabletops in each room. There were quite a few broken deck boards and nails to look out for in and around the deck and outdoor shower. I don’t think I’d recommend this place based on our stay but it has loads of potential! I really loved the spot but for the price I’d rather stay somewhere clean and not full of the owner’s personal items. The sunsets are amazing and the area is lovely. We really loved the sitting area and large table.
