Waianae, Hawaii
This beautiful guest house is located on Maili Point, one of Oahu's most scenic sites. Maili Point is located on the dry and sunny west side of Oahu giving days of perfect weather, full of sunshine and trade winds. The property's secluded location provides a relaxing and peaceful setting. New double paned windows have been installed to block out unwanted street noice. Once the main gate closes, the privileges of your own private beachfront home with unsurpassed views of one of Hawaii's most beautiful bays becomes apparent. Until 2003 the property was the beach home of a well known Hollywood leading actor who described Maili Point as his favorite spot on all the islands.
With its spectacular ocean and coastline views as well as unbelievably beautiful sunsets, you'll know you have found paradise! The beach is half sand and half reef which makes for lots of great surfing, bodyboarding, and snorkeling. In addition to the many tropical fish you are likely to spot sea turtles, dolphins and during the winter months whales playing in the waters just off shore. If you feel like exploring there are many beautiful sandy beaches nearby as well as numerous golf courses.
Waianae Marina just 10 minutes away offers fishing, snorkeling and dolphin expeditions as well as seasonal whale watching. The exquisite Ko'Olina resort is also just 10 minutes away and offers everything you'd expect from a first class resort.

I'd rent there again and hope to next year!!
We enjoyed staying at Maili point in the one bedroom unit. It had all we needed to prepare meals (are preference) and it was comfortable. The view is spectacular and we enjoyed watching the surfers everyday. We snorkeled right out the gate. Thank you, we will consider if in the area again.
This was a true diamond in the rough, and we only stayed in the guest house! Perfect sunsets, beautiful mountains, close amenities and great property. 11/10 would stay again!
Couldn't have asked for better accommodations or location!!
Thanks to Patty and her family for letting us stay at her cottage for a 2nd time. If you are looking for paradise look no forward. One bedroom fully furnished cottage that looks just like the pictures and every thing in the description is true. We had the whole property to ourselves for most of our stay. Watching the waves crash from the porch or the lounge benches is so relaxing no matter the time of day or night. You can't find another property as good as this one. Once you have stayed here, you will never go back to staying in Honolulu. The entire Ochi family is wonderful. Looking forward to coming back.
My husband and I rented this cottage for 9 days in March 2017and the pictures you see are exactly what you get ... we had a great time, the place was perfect ,it's a little piece of paradise, steps to the beach, at night you can hear the waves crashing, beautiful grounds, sunsets every night. looking forward to returning as often as possible .MAHALO
My husband and I rented this cottage for 9 days. We thought that the pictures were amazing on the beach so we decided to rent. I can't begin to tell you how great this place is. Though it's between beaches and is the smaller of two houses on the property, we were so happy to be able to rent this house from Patty and her family. The pictures are true and accurate. If you're looking to get away from downtown Honolulu and want privacy to relax, this is a great cottage to rent. The cottage is perfect size for 2 people. Has a nice size kitchen with everything you could need. There is a table to eat at though we mostly ate outside on the deck as the weather was perfect and the view was amazing. The living room was nice size and had two couches to sit on, plus two chairs and a nice size tv. The bedroom was on the smaller size but the bed was comfy and had ample closet for our items. Bathroom was nice with a standup shower and was clean. The whole house was clean - nothing to complain about. The other house is off to the left on the property and the family staying there as super nice. We shared the washer / dryer in the garage under the cottage as well as the snorkeling items. It was truly wonderful to stay at the property. Though the house does sit on the ocean you still hear the traffic. We would hear the scooters rip up and down the highway late at night but it was never bothersome. We did reach out to the property manager as the handle on the kitchen window came off on the 1st crank and she told me that she knew about it so we closed that window and never opened it again. All of the other windows in the house had been updated. Other than that, there were no issues at all with our stay. Would like to thank Debi, property manager, for letting us check out in the early afternoon as our flight back to the mainland wasn't until 530 pm. This is definitely a great place to stay and truly want to thank Patty, her family and Debi for letting us stay. Mr and Mrs. Shawn Gallagher
First off let me say that this one bedroom suite can not be any more adorable, clean or well appointed. It can not be beat because from moment you wake you can look out the kitchen window from your bed and see the ocean to watching surfers catch waves, or locals fish, right from your private deck. Sunsets are out of control!!! Amazing. However I didn't realize there is a large home and that if guests are staying most of the property is off limits. That means you are to use only the small deck. There is a lovely hammock and chaise loungers that are available - if the main house isn't booked. It wasn't a problem for us because we were on the go much of the time but it would have been nice to know it is a shared space situation. Overall I highly recommend the rental. The area of Wainea doesn't offer much for tourists (and there are some areas I would not venture at night) but that wasn't a real issue for us. Snorkeling right off the beach in front of the unit is fantastic too. I also would like to commend the owner and manager for their flexibility with our departure time. It was really appreciated to arrange a late check out given our flight didn't leave until 11PM. Enjoy the space - it is amazing.
Our first trip to Oahu was a whirlwind of sightseeing. This time was a more relaxed vacation and most enjoyable at this property. We did venture out to Honolulu once but traffic is horrific so we stayed put for the week and enjoyed the beach here and other beautiful beaches along this side of the islands that have so few people during the week. The view from this property is gorgeous and watching people fish, surf and snorkeling. Just outside the gate you are down in the sand. Or get a chair and sit on the grass or on the deck. You have full privacy if the big house is vacant; otherwise, you don't have alot so just go out on your beach. The interior was spacious for the two of us and had what we needed. There are a couple food stores and three restaurants that are not fast food in the general area. There is no grill that I am aware of but I don't grill anyway. The stove, oven and microwave were new and kitchen worked well for the simple meals I might cook. Never saw any bugs in this place whereas I had seen ants and some critters at the other three rental I had in the other islands. The owner is very nice to work with and very professional and hands-on. Debbie, the manager, was terrific and so efficient that i never needed to contact her. The traffic is a bit noisy but i wear ear plugs at home and anywhere I stay. My husband slept without any problems with noise. This rental has an alarm systems and is gated, always felt secure. The WiFi worked perfectly. The locals that we met when we were out and in food stores and restaurants were very friendly. If you want a relaxing vacay away from the maddening crowds of Honolulu you can come here and sit outside with your coffee or cocktails and enjoy the beautiful sights right around you.
I have delayed writing a review because I wanted to keep this place a secret. I want to be able to come back when ever we want and not compete with others. We were steps away from the private beach (world class puplic beaches on either side), best sunsets (the deck faces west). We watched whales swim past and the surfers were right off shore if the surf was up. We enjoyed the local restaurants. The Spicy House was just a block away and had great Thia food and the waiter was helpful and very welcoming. The Coquitco is a Puerto Rican restaurant just north on Farrinton Highway. The west side of the island has more of a local atmosphere. If you want to get away from tourist traps, this is the place for you. There are some great areas for snorkeling and surfing. Take a walk at the end of Farrington highway to see the seals. The only reasons I did not give it 5 stars is because it is hard to find in the dark (if you get in late like we did), the Internet was sketchy unless you bring a laptop to plug in. I had to go down to the main patio to use my IPad. The first Friday we were there, the next door neighbors were having a found raiser and the music and partying was going on till very late. There was a lot of early traffic noise but ocean waves cancelled that out. The owners were there for most of our stay and were very helpful and kind. We spent a lot of time traveling around the island and it always felt like home when we got back to our place. We just loved it. We will be back! Thank you Patty and Mary
