This apartment cottage is named after Prince Rupert of the Rhine, a nephew of King Charles I, who commanded the Royalist cavalry during the English Civil War and made Sudeley his headquarters.
The entrance to the apartment is via one of two outdoor staircases (at each end of the Old Forge) and the shared decking area, which faces a pretty lawn and the footpath to Sudeley Castle.
The first floor has a bright and light open plan living area, dining area and fully equipped kitchen overlooking the main courtyard. A pretty, divided staircase leads up to the double bedroom and family bathroom to the left and the single bedroom (with under-eaves space for a ‘folding' bed) to the right.

Note: the three Old Forge apartment cottages have restricted headroom in parts of the bedrooms and landing areas due to the original oak beams and A-frame structure.

Ground Floor
The living/Dining/Kitchen area is open-plan.
Stepping into the dining area from the decking and outside seating area, you'll immediately be struck by the light and airy feel of this apartment cottage.

Dining Area:
The dining area is furnished with a round, oak dining table and chairs to comfortably accommodate 4 guests.

Kitchen:
The fully equipped kitchen, overlooking the main courtyard, has a country-cottage feel, with fresh off-white coloured and wooden work surfaces. The kitchen has all the appliances, cookware, crockery and glassware you need for a self-catering holiday, including a, oven/hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, Nespresso coffee machine and a washer-dryer. (See ‘Facilities' above for further details.) A welcome pack of teabags, Nespresso coffee pods, hot chocolate, milk, biscuits, jam/honey mini pots, boiled sweets are provided for your first day at the Cottage.

Sitting Room:
A comfortable sofa, sink-in armchair with a footstool provide plenty of seating for 4 in the carpeted living area. In addition, the living area is furnished with an oak coffee table, occasional tables, a Freeview TV and DVD player. An understair cupboard in the living room houses a travel cot, stair gate, highchair, iron, ironing board, airer, as well as the Welcome Dog Basket (with stainless steel bowl and blanket).

First Floor
There is a divided staircase to reach the first floor.

Bedroom One:
The master bedroom is furnished with an oak frame standard double bed, small chest of drawers, bedside tables and individual overbed lights with reading and room lighting. This dual aspect bedroom, with windows to the front and back, has a small hanging cupboard and hooks to store guests' clothing.

Bedroom Two:
Furnished with an oak frame single bed, bedside table and individual overbed light with reading and room lighting, this is a cosy bedroom with views to the rear over the garden and decking area. Hooks in the main bedroom area are provided for hanging clothes, while an under-the-eaves extension off the main sleeping area houses a chest of drawers and hanging hooks.

Family Bathroom:
Adjacent to Bedroom 2 is the family bathroom, with a large walk-in shower (with a fixed over-head rain shower and detachable handheld showerhead) toilet, sink with shaver unit and heated towel rail.

Outside
Guests of Prince Rupert share a lovely wooden decking area (with the George III and Prince Rupert apartments) that looks out over a communal garden lawn and a footpath that leads to Sudeley Castle. Each apartment has its own private seating area with a table and chairs for 4 guests.

This is the second time we have stayed at the Cottages, and we love them! The location within the village and on the grounds of the Castle make it a memorable stay.

Lack of supervision on standard gave rise to a number of minor faults. Contact to resolve issues to Owners (castle) or letting agent was not our responsibility).

I was a volunteer for a couple of days on an archaeological dig at Sudeley Castle so needed somewhere convenient to stay. The Prince Rupert was ideal! It was spacious, well-appointed, quiet and comfortable and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. It was only a short walk over the fields to Sudeley Castle and also extremely close to the amenities on offer in the delightful town of Winchcombe. The cottage was only a stone's throw from a network of footpaths including the Cotswold Way, so I enjoyed a wander up to the atmospheric Belas Knap Long Barrow on the Monday. A relaxing stay at Prince Rupert is highly recommended!

The accommodation was adequate for the short stay I was there. The kitchen is well equipped. Overall it was clean but there were cobwebs around the beams and windows. It did feel a bit shabby and ready for a lick of paint and a furniture upgrade. The bathroom has seen better days. The wi-Fi was terrible and I could barely get emails. There was no chance of working or streaming any films. The location is very good - quiet and peaceful but within walking distance to Winchcombe.

Lovely cottage, well laid out with well equipped kitchen. Footpath to Sudely Castle was ideal - a visit to the castle was the purpose of our visit and it did not disappoint.

Winchcombe itself is just a short walk away from the cottage, so it made a perfect base for our short break, especially with easy parking available. Many 'day out' destinations were close by, but Sudeley Castle (entry included in the cost), GWSR steam railway and Winchcombe's lovely walks were all accessible on foot. The cottage's kitchen was excellent and very well equipped and the bed comfortable, but the bathroom and shower, paint finishes and table tops were a little worn and in need of some TLC. Overall, an enjoyable stay in an excellent location.

We spent 2 nights in Prince Rupert, had a very nice stay. It was well equipped and the information pack was useful. Able to look round the grounds and house as part of the package.

Great location, kitchen, dining area. Needs higher back settee and chair that are supportive. Sofa had lost any support. Shower hose and end needs replacing. Rail for stairs up to property needs to be continuous. Great to be close to good places to eat in Winchcombe and to many footpaths and to have access to Sudeley Castle. Would be interesting to have more history re building.

Excellent accommodation in a perfect location, within easy walking distance of the fascinating and historic Sudeley Castle and the town of Winchcombe with great character, good pubs and a fine selection of eating. Walkers are welcome in Winchcombe and there are many excellent, scenic walks directly from the accommodation. The staff were easy to contact, courteous and very helpful. There was ample, safe parking.

We loved the location, how clean the place was and equipment in the kitchen. Free access to Sudeley Castle was definitely a bonus. Very slow Internet connection was bit of a surprise. I suspect that it might be a simple configuration issue and easy to fix.

This was our 3rd visit to sudeley castle cottages and it didn't disappoint. The cottage was furnished with everything needed super clean and comfortable. On arrival there is tea, coffee, milk and biscuits just perfect after a long journey. The area with its beautiful green fields for great walks on the doorstep and only a 5 minute walk into the town with local shops and boutique's, cafes and restaurants and local pubs make for a excellent break away. Can not wait to book again for next year.

Quaint little accommodation within easy walking distance from both the village and Sudeley Castle. We also found that when showing the key fob, we got free access around Sudeley Castle which saved quite a few pounds. Such an excellent place to visit - it took us 3 different days and we are sure there will still be more to see!!

Before booking i knew castle was shut day before but was assured we would have access to some of the gardens around the castle but while staying we weren’t allowed. Building looked very nice on arrival with nice tea, biscuits coffee machine etc. Upstairs two bedrooms unfortunately my wife found a dozen dead flies under pillow and whiskers in shower. Ceiling were very low upstairs but only got scalped once in the bedroom. Kitchen well fitted out with washing machine and dishwasher. The area around Sudeley outstanding.

An ideal property for a couple or a small family. It was very clean and had all amenities especially in the kitchen. It is an old building and that constrains the layout. So people need to be aware that the bedrooms are both small, with little headroom and little storage space. But that is also part of the charm. It is very close to shops and pubs etc. but far enough away to be quiet. Parking was easy. Sudeley castle is a must see, but there are plenty of other things to do in the area. We did some lovely walks straight from the front door.

Just a couple of points, not criticisms but it would have been useful to know: To access the cottage there are quite a few steps and I'm not sure that we were made aware of this? Unfortunately every area of the country has different rules regarding household waste and recyling. It would have been useful to have had some guidance in the cottage itself so that we could comply.
