A lovingly restored cottage set in a peaceful and tranquil location surrounded by olive groves and vineyards with fabulous views of the Gran Sasso and Maijella mountains. The only sound to be heard from the cottage are the gentle bells in the distance of the shepherd taking his sheep to pastures new.

The cottage consists of a large open plan living/bedroom with wood burner, TV with DVD player, a fully equipped modern kitchen and bathroom. The sofa doubles up as a bed for a smallchild or alternatively we can provide a cot and high chair for younger children.

Outside there is a garden with private decked terrace with patio furniture, BBQ area and your very own private pool. Why not enjoy a glass of wine whilst marvelling at the stunning sunsets over the majestic mountains. Access FREE Wi-fi either inside the cottage or around the pool and garden. There is ample parking adjacent to the cottage right outside the front door!

The local village is just a short walk away or a 2 minute drive which boasts a large well stocked supermarket and butcher, florist, gift shop and friendly bar. The cottage has many restaurants only a short distance away where you can enjoy local Italian cuisine.

Abruzzo is one of the relatively undiscovered regions of Italy - which is why the food and wine are inexpensive and the landscape completely unspoilt. This beautiful area has alot to offer with many interesting places to visit nearby including the historic medieval towns of Atri, Citta St Angelo with large modern shopping mall, the medieval City of Penne (the City of Art) and numerous activities such as visiting caves, winery tours and museums only a short distance away.

The blue flag beach of Pineto is just a 20 minute drive away. Pineto itself is a good size town with many shops selling souvenirs and fancy goods, coffee shops and really good restaurants. How about spending the morning on the beach and perhaps have a late lunch in one of the seafront restaurants If you fancy a train journey to Pescara, there is a regular rail service from Pineto which runs along the Adriatic coast. The eternal city of Rome is just a two hour drive away or catch a comfortable coach to Rome from Pescara or Penne for just €20 return.

Arriving at Casa Tramonto Cottage we will welcome you personally and show you around the cottage. In the kitchen you will find a hamper giving you all the necessities you will need to start off your stay without having to source local supermarkets on your arrival. You will also find a helpful welcome pack with information about local attractions and beautiful places to visit, local restaurants and shops. Of course we will be happy to further this information in person should you require it. If you would like to book the cottage, please email us direct to avoid paying any additional costs HomeAway charge to travellers.

Driving to the cottage through the mountains was amazing! The scenery was unbelievable. We have been holidaying in Italy for the last 20 years and the scenery is up there with the best I’ve see. The cottage itself is very isolated in terms of location and a lot of the little villages surrounding are a 30 min drive, at least. The nearest restaurant is a 20 min drive so not within any walking distance to any decent one’s. The cottage was, in my opinion, very poorly equiped. There was no oven or microwave just a gas hob and with the restaurants being a 30 min drive away this wasn’t ideal, for us anyway. We don’t like to go and eat out every night, its nice to stay at the accomadation, eat in and relax but without an oven its very limiting to what you can cook. As the cottage was very basic there was no A/C, there was a ceiling fan that served no purpose whatsoever. There were no fans in the cottage either, at night the temps hit the high 20’s and it was impossible to sleep, we just lay in the bed sweating and uncomfortable. Now, I appreciate fully that air conditioning is expensive to fit and expensive to run so a couple of fans would have been appreciated. Also, the bed itself was was a little bigger than a single, think its called a queen size? It just wasn’t big enough. My wife and I are not over weight by any stretch and the bed needed to be a double so you can stretch out, it was a little cramped. This wouldn’t have helped with the heat either. The pool area was really nice with some magnificent veiws of the mountains and we saw the wild boars at night to. The pool was small but that’s fine, I don’t swim anyway so was perfect for me. The only critisim is it would have been nice to have an umbrella so we could sheild from the sun and not have to lie in it. Would I go back? No, there needs to be some sort of way to cool down at night. It go that bad we decided to leave a week early, we just wasn’t sleeping at night and it was unbearable.

There are many reasons for staying in Casa Tramonto: 1. Location (general) - Abruzzo region, a few km from Atri. A rural and quiet area. The nearest village is 2km from the house, you can get there the best cornettos in Abruzzo. 2. Location ( particular) : The house is on a hillside, with a view to Gran Sasso , next to owners house, however secluded so you can enjoy full privacy. 3. The house itself: a spacious living room/bedroom with a kitchen corner, equipped with everything you need. The interior is cosy, tastefully arranged, with some vibe of a chalet in Swiss Alps. A bathroom comfortable and laaarrrgee. 4. The pool : it is for guests own use and it offers, beside the pleasure of cooling down and swimming, the magnificent view of Gran Sasso mountains. 5. The hosts: Tom and Linzi are very helpful, kind and charming persons. Meeting them was a great pleasure.

We hoped for a truly special holiday to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and that is just what we got and more! Casa Tramonto provided super accommodation in the most beautiful location between the sea and mountains. Pat and Tom are great hosts and were keen to ensure we had an exceptional holiday. They sensitively balanced respecting our holiday privacy and being available if and when needed. The cottage was spotlessly clean and equipped for all our needs. The pool is a special added luxury. Pat’s file provided a range of information- places to visit with directions, picturesque towns, restaurants and beaches etc. The Abruzzo region is unspoilt and the local people are friendly- and were very patient with our broken Italian! Pat and Tom- it was a real pleasure to meet you. Thank you for everything and we look forward to seeing you again. P & Z

We spent two weeks here in August, and hardly met any other non-Italian tourists. Except for the seaside you don't get the usual high summer crowds in this region, which makes for a very relaxing, authentic experience of this beautiful part of Italy. The views from Tom and Pat's lovely cottage are so magnificent, it's hard to tear yourself away from them. We spent the first days just taking in the sight of the delightful hills, the majestic Gran Sasso and the Maiella and the calming sound of the crickets from the very pretty patio by the pool. The pool is set beautifully into the plot, is regularly cleaned and felt like pure luxury to us. It is absolutely private, and a perfect spot to hang out and daydream for days on end. It's also quite a good spot for birdwatching - we spotted and heard some Golden Orioles, Bee-Eaters, Falcons, Buzzards, Hoopoes and others we don't even know. But there are also many fascinating places to see: we especially liked Sulmona, Castel del Monte, Atri with its Monday market, Elice and Pescocostanzo in the Maiella. The walks in the Gran Sasso are a real treat if you like solitary and slightly adventurous hikes - a fantastic experience and not nearly as crowded with walkers as the Alps (if you don't stay too close to the Rifugio del Campo Imperatore). Mostly, you don't meet a single person all day, except for shepherds. Even in August, there were lots of beautiful wild flowers and dozens of butterflies. The Campo itself and the walks around it are an experience not to be missed in our view. You get there from the cottage in only over an hour by car. Tom and Pat are lovely hosts who made us feel very welcome in every possible way. We were always delighted to have a little chat with them and were very grateful for their tips, for example a remarkable medieval festival at Elice.

We spend 8 days at Casa Tramonto in the end of June and it was a pleasure. On arrival a basket with some basics (pasta etc.), sweets and more was waiting for us. And the feeling of our hosts caring about us having a good time never went away throughout the week. They were very polity, gave us useful tips and respected our privacy. The view from the pool is nice during the days and breathtaking at night. The house tends to be pretty warm, but in case you want to spend time inside there is a nice selection of dvds. The wifi is as good as it probably gets in that remote area, which means shaky. The surrounding area is nice and pretty cheap. All in all we can only recommend spending your vacation here!

The beautiful holiday cottage has it's own pool and decking area overlooking snow covered mountains in the distance. The welcome pack Was most welcome and just what we needed after the drive from Rome. Tom & Patricia are great hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Eating out at nearby restaurants is extremely well priced, 5 euro's for a stunning pizza. We also went to Mario's for a ten course authentic Italian meal with wine, we had to roll home. This costs about 20 euro's per person. The cottage itself is well equipped, beautifully decorated and very homely. If you want a relaxing break, lounging by the pool, letting the stresses of work evaporate away while looking at the beautiful Italian countryside, this is a must. Thanks Tom & Patricia, we'll definitely be back.
